  1. Hi, I'm looking to buy a new laptop and would like it to meet these requirements OS: 64 Bit Windows 7,8, or 8.1 PROCESSOR: Intel core i5 or faster AMD Athlon X4 MEMORY: 4GB RAM HARD DRIVE: At least 9 GB of free space with at least 1 GB additional space for custom content and saved games DVD-ROM: DVD ROM drive required for installation only VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 650 or better SOUND CARD: DirectX 9.0c Compatible DIRECTX: DirectX 9.0c compatible INPUT: Keyboard and Mouse My budget is around £500. Can anyone recommend a laptop that would meet this within budget?
  2. How do I get a copy of windows? It was Windows 7 And how do I boot from the USB? Sorry for all the questions!
  3. So you would suggest I run it? The process on the videos say to go into a folder called DOS_Flash (I only have one called DOS or one called Windows) and then there will be a file called 115.fd (the version number of BIOS file) which I should rename too another specified file name. There is no such file in the DOS folder. Do you think there could be hidden files?
  4. That's what I'm trying to avoid. If I can get the right file I can get it going again
  5. The only file in the zip file I downloaded from Acer is called ZE6_115.exe I dont think this is the file I need
  6. Looks like exactly what I want but when I download the BIOS file from Acer Website there doesnt seem to be the file that the video says I need. On his video there are about 12 files and on my download there are 2 folder with 1 .exe in each (same file) which I daren't run in case it buggers this laptop up
  7. None of those worked. Any other ideas? Is there a file I could put on a USB stick that could boot it do you know?
  8. Nothing been plugged into USB sockets. Will give the F buttons a try, thanks
  9. Hi, I've got an Acer Aspire One D257 and it won't boot up. When switching on after a couple of seconds I get a grey fuzzy screen with a message giving me two options A) launch system repair B) Start windows normally Neither option works! The screen goes black afterwards and doesnt progress. I have left it for as long as 24 hours. I dont get the Acer screen at all so not able to do Alt + F10 as I have read. It doesnt have a CD/DVD drive in it so no recovery discs came with it. Does anyone else have any other ideas I can try? I read somewhere that I could do something with a BIOS file but not sure which I should do it with and what exactly I should do. Thanks in advance Zoey
  10. Thanks, I've had a quote from Wood Lane but to be honest, not sure it's worth £2k just for a room on a Friday night!
  11. Is this Whirlow Hall Farm? Can't find a Willow
  12. Hi, I'm looking for ideas for a wedding reception venue. We're getting married in Italy but having a do when we get back. Ideally, we'd love a barn type place where we can have our own bar and caterers etc. Or even a marquee I guess. Anywhere in Sheffield area would work and needs to be for approx 100-120 people Anyone got any ideas?
  13. Ok, this is really weird and people will probably tell me that it can't be true but it is! So, a couple of months ago the mouse pointer on my laptop started going crazy, would only move up and down and the movement was very jerky. I also noticed that when I plugged in the headphones there was a really loud buzzing. I quickly came to realise that these problems only happened when the AC adapter is plugged in. Running on battery mode these things work fine. Next, over the last few weeks, the internet has stopped working when the AC adapter is plugged in. I try to load a webpage and it won't load, unless I am already on one. If I am already on one it runs slow but it does run. Tonight (here's where the weird bit comes) I discovered that whilst playing on my OHs work laptop that the same happens to the internet when the other laptop is plugged in. So... a completely different laptop is affected by an AC adapter being plugged in to my original laptop..... WTF?!? I then, out of curiosity, tried the headphones in the new computer whilst the AC adapter is plugged into the old computer and I can hear interference. Any ideas what on earth this could be? I feel like there is electicity bouncing round my room and that I am lucky not to have electrocuted myself by now! Please help
  14. Anyone know what's happening in North Anston? The police are blocking the road off near the Little Mester pub and appear to be searching the wooded area there.
