Sheffield's New Lord Mayor - Magid Magid
slh73 replied to Halibut's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Me neither, and I met the one before him on 2 occasions. Still no idea what her name is -
As a sparky, and looking at the state of the job in that photo, I wouldn't take that on for 250 quid. Nothing worse than sorting something where someone's mate 'had a go at it' and ballsed it up

Nice bit of copy and paste journalism from the star The Star: Fury over ‘drunk Barnsley fans who abused passengers and threatening to take over train’. https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/latest/fury-over-drunk-barnsley-fans-who-abused-passengers-and-threatening-to-take-over-train-1-9670703

Not yet, but got my hop hideout voucher from their crowd funder last week

Only gig I've ever got my money back for was the sweet and mud at the city Hall. Can't remember the year, late 80s/early 90s. Mud didn't even bother turning up, and were replaced by kenny, who played their 1 hit and a load of covers, then the sweet came on, or rather Brian connolly and some session musicians. Connolly was so drunk he couldn't stand up without holding on to the mic stand, and the rest of the band had to keep reminding him which song he was supposed to be singing.

Candytown - closed. When did it shut up shop?

It was only a matter of time, been trading on reputation for years now -
Emergency Services with a dinghy?
slh73 replied to K1Machine's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The only time I've seen an emergency dinghy in Sheffield, it was floating along the bottom of jenkin Road during the 2007 floods -
Wherever its going to be, judging by the untappd checkins for the one in Hillsborough, they need to seriously up their beer game if they're claiming to be Sheffields biggest craft beer bar.
-
Announcement made this morning, they're going to be part of the new kommune project in the old brightside and carbrook building
-
I would hope as well as. There's been nothing from the usual sources about them giving up the rutty that I've heard, anyway
-
So why bring it up?
-
What and where is it?
-
Bradfield? Are they doing a farmers Brett?

The fact they've kept the guy who ran it into the ground twice before makes me suspicious. There's no shortage of brewers in Sheffield, I'm sure they could have cut ties with him and started over properly. As it is, I'd put money on it going the same way again. I've no problem paying what some may see as over the odds for good beer. Sentinels wasn't worth the asking price.
-
If it's been phoenixed, as suspected, then they won't be firing him. He had a couple of lads working for him before who had some really good ideas, but he wouldnt let them do anything with them, as he thought his way was the only way. I'd put money on it going the same way this time.

Comparing the cheapest and most expensive 'pint' isn't really a fair comparison without specifying what's in that pint. . Cheapest is going to be some mass produced tasteless bilge, and most expensive will more than likely be something with a double digit abv, that's spent a year or 2 aging in bourbon/sherry/rum/cognac casks, and travelled thousands of miles to get here, hence the high price tag. Comparing apples and oranges
-
Low abv farmhouse/saison style beer, usually brewed with wheat. Originally brewed for Belgian miners
-
Had mine done at the Hallamshire, no complaints here

I've heard a rumour the old costa coffee/fopp/warp unit on division Street has been taken on to be turned into something beer related. Not saying its jules and will moving into it, but the new location hasn't been announced yet

City Road is shut from the top of Granville to the post office. Might have something to do with it
-
It can't be that difficult a test, I've never been in a taxi that hasn't needed directing

What is the solution for fuel drive offs from garages?
slh73 replied to Janus's topic in General Discussions
No, I usually pay at the pump where possible, but I'm not every biker in the country ---------- Post added 06-11-2018 at 06:26 ---------- Thars not an easy answer though, is it? Go in booth, queue, pay, fill up, go back in, queue again, obtain refund, leave, taking double the time it currently does. I generally pay by card and use pay at pump where possible to save taking my helmet off, but that doesn't go for everyone else -

Not practical for everyone - you ever filled a motorbike up? I always brim my tank, don't know what it's going to cost until its full
