The Sheffield A-Z - How Many Can You Name?
slh73 replied to SheffieldForum's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
E - exposed magazine -
Forest on Rutland road. Landlord used to disappear to bed about 2am and leave the punters to it, last man out locked the door and stuck they keys through the letterbox

It was the same for me, city was showing a couple of quid more than uber, but no drivers were accepting jobs via city. Can only assume that city takes a bigger cut of the fare than uber.
-
Most of the drivers for other firms also drive for uber. I dropped my motorbike in for a service a couple of weeks back, tried booking a cab home through the city taxis app, it showed there were 5 or 6 on the area, but didnt assign a driver. After 15 minutes waiting I cancelled that, booked one with uber, it turned up within 5 minutes and the car had both uber and city logos on the door. My wife had the same experience coming home from a night out last week. Can only think the drivers make more money from uber bookings so turn down the city ones in the hope an uber one comes up.

Do it. I'll open a book on how long it takes him to get himself booted again.

My mate went to Sheffield university and now lives in Swindon. Not sure how which uni he went to is relevant to where he lives now -
Arctic Monkeys Concerts In Hillsborough Park
slh73 replied to ShotoKarate's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Exactly this. From the first time I saw them at the boardwalk, and several times after that, getting bigger every gig, there's never been much in the way of audience interaction. In the early days they didn't even do encores. -
It was the bombay. The owners also had khans on West Street. Used to go to the bombay all the time, it changed into a more upmarket Indian (cafe guru, I think it was called) but wasn't as good. Now a Chinese place I think, I don't venture that way very often nowadays

I went to prince Edwards school from 78 to 85 with a Jason Savage, lived just off queen Mary road on a road who's name I can't remember, and has since gone with the new estate build

I've lived in Sheffield for all 49 years of my life, my accent is as strong as anyone's, but I've never had any problem making myself understood by staff in overseas call centers, or non UK customers in my job. Maybe its not your accent that's your problem?

Should Regular Eye Tests Be Compulsory For Drivers?

For the sake of 20 quid (which I can get back through Westfield that work pay for) it's a no brainer really -
Should Regular Eye Tests Be Compulsory For Drivers?

I don't drive, but I have a full motorcycle licence and ride at least 200 miles a week getting to work and back, sometimes more. I currently only need glasses for really close up work, but have my eyes tested every 12 months regardless. I don't know why anyone wouldn't, tbh. I'd hate to think I was in control of something capable of doing 180mph that could throw me off at the slightest mistake if I couldn't see properly. It's bad enough being blinded by oncoming car headlights without being half blind on top of that. -
It's changed name, called Chinatown now. No idea if it's any different to candy Town, we go to oisoi if we want chinese

Watch Strap Repair/Replacement For Fitbit 3 In S6?
slh73 replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Watch the video posted above. If he's capable of putting the strap around his wrist and fastening it, he can take it off and fit a new one. It's as easy as pushing a button, pulling the old strap off the watch body, and pushing the new one in place. No need to pay a jeweller for that, who'd probably charge their minimum of 1 hours labour for 30 seconds work -
Watch Strap Repair/Replacement For Fitbit 3 In S6?
slh73 replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Like you were told on the last thread you started about this, it takes less than a minute to fit one yourself. There are instructions on the fitbit website, with pictures. Ask a grownup to help. -
Coming from someone who takes every available opportunity to tell the world how much you hate 'Sony zealots' (I saw your twitter before it went), that's a pretty rich statement
