  1. It's Paul Ryder, and he played bass.
  2. My 3 Chestermans (150mm, 300mm and a folding 600mm) have been in my toolbox since I was an apprentice 30 years ago, and still look as good as new. Wouldn't have a clue where to get one new from nowadays, but stuff like that turns up second hand on ebay quite often.
  3. If I had to work for Tim Martin, I'd be miserable as well
  4. Depends where you're coming from and going to. I needed to get from hope to meadowhead, Instead of going via Abbey Lane I went over owler bar, through Holmesfield to bradway, then to meadowhead, and barely saw any traffic at all
  5. I hit the traffic queue at whirlowDale road/Abbey Lane last night, and went home down abbeydale Road instead to avoid it. Went to work this morning through Dronfield Woodhouse and Holmesfield because I didn't know if it was sorted yet. Looks like I'm coming home that way as well then
  6. I'd imagine in the time between 2017 and now, they've either sorted it or binned it
  7. Vehicle excise duty, or VED. Nothing at all to do with roads. Road tax was abolished in 1937
  8. I am, used to do club nights and gigs regularly, but then I got old and hangovers started to last a weekend instead of being cured by a coffee and a bacon buttie.
  9. November 2003, according to my profile
  10. Ive used these for repairs in the past, but it's been a while, can't promise they're still as good as they were then. They're on the shops near the Asda junction of the Parkway https://www.fonefunshop.com
  11. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/willy-collins-sheffield-widow-threatens-23512076
  12. It's also got lights and a jukebox, apparently, so it must have got power from somewhere. Probably wired off the nearest lamp post
  13. Reading this topic through you'd think this was a daily occurrence, but for the last 8 years I've gone through that junction twice a day, 5 days a week, at rush hour, and never seen any evidence of an accident.
  14. Nope, still there. I haven't been in for about 15 years now, but I pass it every day on my way home from work. Used to go in 3 times a week - general knowledge quiz on Tuesdays, music quiz on Wednesdays, then they'd usually have a singer on on a Saturday night. Still had the main room with the stage, lounge and games room with snooker and pool tables and a dart board back then. I think now they've turned the lounge part into a dining area.
  15. Going on recent untappd checkins, your options are shipyard, maxim or San Miguel. So no, you won't.
  16. Because there was already a food market on there, and the hedgerow market had run without any bother on division Street for the past 2 months.
  17. Id have thought Maggie Mays would be exactly what youre after http://www.maggiemayssheffield.com/
  18. Depends what you want from a pub. I went into town last week, went in the Rutland arms industry tap, beer engine, Bath hotel, and red deer, and enjoyed my time in all of them. But if your wanting to go out and drink fancy cocktails in a place where the music's so loud you can't have a conversation, you wouldn't like any of them
  19. Quoted from the pubs facebook As alot of you have heard already, the Yorkshireman will not be reopening after the lockdown is over. This is not due to the management or staff or money issues, it is because the council are doing major building work next door and demolishing then rebuilding the old co-op. Unfortunately this involves a scaffold through our dancefloor and dj booth, and may compromise the structural integrity of the Yorkshireman We are on the lookout for a new venue, so please keep this page if you are interested in seeing where we land! Personally, until we find something I will be at the Dove and Rainbow with Dawn for the time being, much thanks to her for that and I may be moving certain nights of ours down there, depending on compatibility. Its a sad day, and this is probably the actual end of the Yorkshiremen rock bar, but best wishes to you all, and I will see you soon. Thank you so much to the team who have worked there, everyone whos been there over the years has made it an amazing experience and worked really hard, and thank you to all our loyal customers, much love! John x
  20. Closed down because the coop next door was extended into half the pub. More than likely won't be coming back.
  21. Went past this morning and there were lights on inside. Doesn't mean it's open, but it's usually a good sign
