  1. I currently use pure gym but would like to start swimming regularly so looking for somewhere with a pool. Virgin Active looks amazing but is very expensive. Living Well at Hilton looks good and is £35 a month which seems reasonable (one option at £35 has no contract the other has 12 month contract but you get a 60 min massage/facial every month which would be nice!) I don’t want to spend a huge amount so although I’d love to, I think I’ll avoid virgin active. I do want a decent pool (enough to do lengths) and just somewhere decent I guess. Would rather avoid ponds forge etc and those likely to be busy with kids and families... Any advice much appreciated! I am in nether edge but drive so happy for anywhere as long as it’s not over 30 mins drive
  2. Hey, I'm moving to Sheffield next year with my dog who will then be around 14 months (a labrador) and I probably won't be taking my car as the insurance is a lot more expensive in Sheffield than here in Cornwall at my parents house.. So I need some advice on good dog walks around Sheffield, where I can let her off the lead. I'm not sure where I'll be living yet, as I have a dog and will be renting I won't be able to be too fussy with that but hopefully not too far out of the city (but definitely not central) - areas like Crookes, Walkley, Sharrow Vale, Ecclesall Road, Nether Edge, Endcliffe or near to Norfolk Park. I've read that Norfolk Park is good, are you allowed to take dogs off leash there and if so is it a good place for a dog to have a really good run around and burn off her energy? I'd rather have places I can walk to, as coming back from a walk on the bus with a muddy dog might not please too many people.... Any advice would be awesome, thanks!
  3. I'm moving to Sheffield sometime in the next year and before then am hoping to adopt a dog. Just doing my research on how dog friendly the city is.. Do buses allow dogs? I won't have a car when I move, but will try and find somewhere near a good park and hopefully in walking distance to a vet. Or are there some dog friendly taxis? Are there many dog friendly rental properties around? Do people generally walk around the city centre with their dogs? Are any pubs/cafes happy for you to bring your dog in while you eat? Any info would be great.. I love Sheffield and can't wait to move but don't want to get a dog and then find it's going to have a terrible life once I move!
  4. I will be moving to Sheffield in the next year and am looking for a house share that will allow a dog. I'm in my twenties and not in the position to rent a whole property or buy anywhere at this point so a house share is my only option! I know it's going to be difficult with a dog, especially as all the other housemates will need to be happy with it, but I am hopeful.. I've been browsing on Spareroom.com for a while and have seen a few places that have a dog already or say they would accept one for a higher deposit. Can anyone give me advice on how difficult it is to find a place with a landlord/lady who will allow dogs? Another option is for me to find a place that's available for house share and try and find other people to buddy up and move in together. Or possibly being a lodger although being new to Sheffield I'd ideally like to live with other people my age for the social side..
