  1. I always pass with care but some do not. I never mentioned anything about tax and insurance anyway. Why ride on the road when the council has spent significant amount of money just for cyclists. Don't go crying if you are involved in an accident on the road, even if it wasn't your fault.
  2. Ours goes up on the 1st Dec. I know of one house where the tree has been up over a week already.
  3. Blocking box junctions and the like impedes the flow of traffic through the box. I say get on with it. Regarding cyclists it annoys me when they drive on the road when there is a purpose made cyclist lane to use, in particular on Penistone road city bound. They avoid any confrontation with motorised vehicles from the cycle lane.
  4. I was once on the ship Discovery in Dundee. Having gone downstairs to the dining room area I happened to look up at a window and there was someone with his/her head fully through the window. Once on deck I looked at the window and it was bolted shut. Make of this what you will.
  5. For me my Jag XF's were the best I owned. Everyone who sat in the passenger seat said this was the most comfortable car they have ever sat in. Good looking too. It could shift a bit as well when asked to.
  6. Lived there for years without any problems. Shops and schools are close by as are the bus routes should you need them
  7. Only I know how large and heavy it is and that it took three males nearly an hour to get it into the specified space.
  8. These people should get a life. I defy any two people of the female variety to deliver our three piece suite into our living room.
  9. Has anyone on this thread mentioned the cost to SCC of pensions? Government employees in general have some of the best pension schemes around. NHS, Police, Public servants etc
  10. I'm not against progress but I do not need a meter to tell me when the kettle is on or the light is on. We turn all switches off at night and leave nothing on standby. To take accurate readings from the meters on the outside wall and provide them to the supplier takes about five minutes per month. At least I know the reading is correct.
  11. I know of someone who built a conservatory over a manhole without contacting YW. Years later when we had a lot of rain it flooded the conservatory and ruined everything.
  12. If you expect it then it will happen. Why not look on the bright side. There are more jobs vacancies than unemployed. As to we being a service provider rather than manufacturer, what a load of tosh. We have some of the most cutting edge factories in the world. Just yesterday a company is to build a factory to build air ships and will provide 1800 jobs. I know this post will create some responses but I'm prepared for them.
  13. I thought there was a shortage of shipping containers to move goods around the world. Obviously not
  14. Could it be the staff have found other jobs and or do not intend to return to the industry after the height of the pandemic.
  15. I'm fairly sure it's illegal have a tube fitted but I may be wrong.
  16. Grew up on Hawksley Road. Played footie and cricket just inside the park and always being chased off by the park keepers. No longer possible now as there are trees all over the place. Great time were had by all.
  17. I bet every driver breaks the speed limit rules every day at some point. Yes she did wrong but I don't think she will/should resign but I do think she should repay all her salary from the time she was suspended up to the day until she returns back to work.
  18. Mine rose over 100% a couple of months ago.
  19. I believe Riley's sold out a few years ago. It is now Sheffield Tolling company Ltd. Tel 0114 2434703. Good luck
  20. My uncle worked there as a cabinet maker although not sure of the years, probably 1950's. Sadly no longer with us and no photographs either.
  21. There are some folks who are genuinely skint and them who say they are but have 50" tv's and new phones.
