  1. No they can’t. As MJ01 already mentioned it is in breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act and would also be pregnancy discrimination under the Equality Act 2010.
  2. It’s three months less one day. As already suggested, put in an appeal and contact ACAS / a solicitor.
  3. Thanks for the recommendation, I’m going to go and have a look at them in Richer Sounds. Some of the reviews I’ve seen online seem to say it can be difficult getting a good fit but presumably you haven’t found this to be a problem?
  4. Can anyone recommend some in ear wireless headphones that are good quality but don’t cost the earth?
  5. Does anyone know where I can buy the festive headbands with antlers etc in the city centre?
  6. Thank you, presumably they can also be used for weekly tickets through the mTickets app or on a smartcard.
  7. In the UK, terrorism is defined as the use or threat of action which is designed to influence the government or intimidate the public or a section of the public, and is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.
  8. Totum is apparently the new name for NUS Extra and whilst First’s website states that they will accept NUS Extra cards to be eligible for a student fare, it doesn’t specifically mention Totum. I can’t see why they wouldn’t accept them as it is just the new branding for the same thing, but wondered whether anyone has used a Totum card on a First bus and been able to get the student fare. I tried ringing First earlier on but spent 20 minutes on hold and then gave up.
  9. Is this the same as the FSCS? Their website shows BLME as being authorised but it doesn’t seem to be on the list on the website in your link.
  10. Does anyone have an account with them and if so, are they any good? I’ve seen reviews and posts on sites such as MSE and they seem to get good feedback but just wondered if anyone has any personal experience. At the moment they have a one year fixed rate savings account with an expected profit rate of 1.95% which is better than any of the other banks at the moment.
  11. Does anyone know why these have been closed? It’s not exactly like they can easily be transformed into anything else.
  12. It is now displaying the correct times for the 51.
  13. It now stops one stop further up the High Street, at stop HS5.
  14. Both individuals have now pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and six counts of conspiracy to murder. They are due to be sentenced on 12 November. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-49854228
  15. It would be hugely helpful if when moving where buses stop there was some kind of information poster to alert passengers. As of the weekend the 51 going up to Lodge Moor now stops one stop further up on the High Street (previously outside Pret) however there is nothing to inform passengers of this change and the information on the electronic information boards still hasn’t been updated so people are still queuing for the 51 at the old stop and the information on the board at the new stop doesn’t relate to the correct buses!
  16. Age UK - https://www.ageuk.org.uk/sheffield/get-involved/volunteer/ Also look here where you can enter your preferences for types of voluntary work and days/times when you are available - https://www.vcconnectsystem.org.uk/VMS2/VolunteerOpportunities/OpportunitySearch
  17. It wasn’t those ones I saw earlier on today, just a plain black one that looked as though it was carrying people rather than any kind of equipment.
  18. Does anyone know why a helicopter landed in the field next to the Spider Park off Crimicar Lane in Lodge Moor around an hour ago? It was black and didn’t have any special markings as though it was the Police or an Air Ambulance. The same thing happened a few days ago too, though it may not have been the same helicopter. There is no designated helipad there and people frequently use the field to walk dogs so it doesn’t seem a particularly safe place to land unless it is an emergency.

  20. Just to clarify, it’s not actually illegal - it’s just banned by TFL policy.
  21. A couple of questions.... According to the Sheffield City Council website, my ward currently has three councillors however it states that only one candidate is to be elected at the forthcoming election - why is this and if this candidate were to be elected, what would happen to the other two? Secondly, we have had no campaigning materials through the door yet and when I search online for the candidates standing for election, at least one does not seem to appear anywhere online and the others just list their contact details - where can I find out more about their policies etc. Even looking on the party's website does not seem to elicit any further information. Appreciate there are far bigger politicial issues going on at the minute but there just seems to be a lack of information about the local elections.
  22. Have you tried Aspire? http://www.aspire-sheffield.co.uk/computer-recycling/
  23. I’m looking for any opinions on Simmonite butchers on Division Street, I understand they used to have a stall in Castle Market. I’m particularly interested in the quality of the meat slices, pies and pasties.
