  1. Hello, can anyone recommend an advisor? I normally sort out my own re-mortgages but with an hectic work schedule I could do with a little help this time to ensure I get the best deal. any help appreciated Thank you
  2. Hello, can anyone help? We are building a rear double extension, structural engineer has said we need to fit windpost on a rear house extension - WPA windpost from wincro. I get what it is, but how does it tie into the house, one ties goes into the block and one tie goes across the cavity into the brick. It bolts into concrete footing and bolts to the joist, am I missing something? or does the tie from the block then go into the current brickwork of the house? We need windpost due to taking down the nibs in the current house and putting in a long UB. Thanks any help appreciated.
  3. Hello, can anyone recommend an architect? Looking at getting some drawings sorted and planning permission asap. We have a 3 bed detached house (1950s), we are looking at extending on the rear of the house (instead of side) to create a large rear bedroom with en-suite, family room downstairs, and a larger kitchen. If anyone can recommend some rough cost that would be great. I can get the groundworks sorted through a friend Thank you
  4. Hi, can anyone suggest a good bar to watch the haye vs bellew fight this Saturday? Thanks
  5. Hello Currently live in a 2 bed semi detached (built 1965). It's been a great house ffor the last 10 years, but I'm now moving on to a 3 bed semi , built around 1925-1930. I really like the look of these houses because they have great character. Just wondered if any one can advise of any common problems to houses built in this era that may crop up, and as anyone had any issue with bad soundproofing issues?
  6. Hello Looking at taking some old double glazing windows out and replacing all for new. Just normal windows nothing fancy - no lead trimming or stained glass. 2 x bay windows, at the front of the house then rest are normal windows (no windows on the side of the house) also thinking of having the doors replaced. As anyone had any done recently or can recommend anyone? I was speaking to one company who are workIng on a 12 week lead time. Thanks

  8. So looking at the comments it would be very difficult to extend the tram line to stocks bridge because of the road layouts and far too expensive
  9. I thought that there was a tram link included in the planning my for the new housing project in Oughtibridge on the old paper mill site?
  10. Ah yes , so they could potentially make use of the rail track on the other side of the don? Just curious that's all because I've seen a house in oughtibridge that I'm thinking of viewing but just wondered that's all because it's on the main road and was thinking about what may happen in the future.
  11. Hello Just wondered if anyone could help? Does anyone know if there are plans to expand the tram lines from Hillsborough to stocksbridge by going through middlewood rd north then up on to Manchester road ? Just with all the house building going on I guess that this may be a future development ? Thanks
  12. Hello So what is everyone doing for NYE? Is there much happening in town or anywhere locally in Hillsborough area? Normally go to a friends party but looking at doing something different this year, any suggestions? Thanks
  13. Hi all, I'm just after some advice, recommendations on a budget etc. I have a 3 bed semi detached house, built in 1930 plenty of land with the house been a corner plot, property is mortgaged but free hold. Lots of neighbours on the street have also had extensions (I have also been looking at there plans etc on council website) I think why'l where doing this might as well go for the double extension straight away - no garage though, I think might as well use all of the space for rooms. Now I would like it built the traditional way- Brick, and would say 1/4 at th top will be fine block so that house can be rendered. So can anyone advise of a local company to draw the plans and sort plans with council etc and cost involved? I will only be looking for a shell extension to start with so if any one has done this recently what did it cost you please? Thanks

  15. Hi firethorn, I am thinking of moving to this estate, so in your honest opinion do you feel that this would be a nice place to live, good location and with no neighbourhood issues? Hi Jilljoe, could you advise of the same? I know a property that is coming up for sale on Chiltern Rd very soon, and I am really interested, but the prices on these roads seem very expensive so I need to make sure its the right move also Any advise would be appreciated thanks
