  1. Thanks again for all your help. Yes I found him in the 1851 census. I had a good walk round the area on Friday and it is amazing how much of the Upwell Street area still exists from the late 1940 and well before but sadly the bits I was interested in have gone. The area around Court 5 is now a modern GP Practice and Ballyard is now a very small trading estate. The pubs are still standing but have different uses (except Ball Inn) With your help I have been able to complete the task I set and will be moving on to research Blymhill , Staffs looking for ancestors around 1660. Thanks again and I am in awe of your skills, knowledge and keenness to help.
  2. Thanks very much to all for taking the time and trouble to help. I am currently researching Edward Warrender has a Son and Parent. In the 1881 Census he is shown as 3 Ballyard and in the 1891 Census as Court 5 Upwell Street. It is possible that my transcription of the census is not complete. I am looking for good maps (the Court 5 reference was brilliant) and I am not sure about the properties in Ballyard. Thanks again for any info. I hope to visit the area shortly with a print out of any information to see how much is left.
  3. Many thanks for the reply. I am little familiar with Upwell Street (went to Wesleyan Reform Chapel circa 65 years ago) but I cannot remember any courts. Would the outline of courts show up on any old maps?
  4. I am researching family tree and came across a Court5, Upwell Street in the 1891 Census. I cannot find this place on any map - does anyone know where it might be and how I can see it on an old map Thanks
