  1. Are the funds more than £60,000. If it is under £60,000 (which I doubt) you can BACS transfer. Anything over £60k will require a telegraphic transfer from your sons bank if he is the one purchasing the property. What are the odds for him being on holiday now! Good luck!
  2. They pretty much all go on Rightmove. Be careful with some estate agencies as they make it mandatory for you to use their conveyancers - not something you want as you will pay an inordinate amount of referral fees for nothing! Local estate agents are quite good, try someone like Spencers in Sheffield? There's loads of decent ones but yes they all end up on Rightmove!
  3. I think the best thing to do would be to get a property survey on the property, that should point out most of the things you would miss normally. It may also get you to lower the asking price should the property need any work doing. Also, yes put in an offer and let the estate agent know your situation.
  4. It depends if the contracts are all OK on both sides. Sometimes in can go through straight away but if there are discrepancies in the contracts it can cause delays. Also, conveyancers can be a little tricky so make sure you have a contact available that you can call to advise on the updates.
