  1. Natjack. Quite right, give a reasoned opinion on here and receive juvenile abuse from some brainless nut job, reply to it, he then reports you and gets your posts taken off. Only to be expected I suppose.
  2. I'm fairly sure the Master Cutler ran through Midland Station in the 60s, I remember going to London for an interview in the late 60s for an interview and because I was getting expenses went in the restaurant car for a full English breakfast, absolutely marvellous, served me right though I didn't get the job.
  3. Just heard that this elderly man has died,RIP. There's so much wrong about this cowardly attack by this lowlife.if convicted the maximum will be life, ie 14 years with remission 7. Life should mean life, they've taken a life.
  4. I don't trust adverts anymore. I once got on a bus for a pint because it said Stones beer on the side, couldn't believe it when they didn't have any.
  5. 2005 Labour 35.2 per cent of vote. 355seats 2015 Tories. 36.9 per cent of vote. 331seats So there clearly is something wrong with our voting system, but who it ends up favouring would seem to be something of a lottery.
  6. Top man Paul, nothing too much trouble. And his dad was just the same. And on a lighter note I believe he's a blade so he can't be faulted.
  7. I don't know about this case, but in general no one with children in the UK is living in such poverty that they can't afford to feed them. If that were the case more people on low incomes would be shoplifting. But they don't because they prioritise their spending.
  8. tzijistra. Seems a good enough reason for coming out of the EU then.
  9. Halibut. You really are an unpleasant child. You accuse others of inhumanity then spend time on here insulting those who don't agree with you. If as I suspect it's being bullied and picked on by the other kids that causes you to do this, you should report it to one of the grown ups. I've noticed in the short time I've looked at SF that 99.9 per cent of the people on here can discuss and give opposing views on varying subjects without using the juvenile schoolyard insults you favour. On a brighter note the people like you, with your something for nothing, someone else can pay type of socialism will have ensured oblivion for that side of Labour for at least ten years.
  10. I don't need to read history, have you been to Page Hall or up Staniforth Road lately, all the houses on Staniforth Road were modernised 25 years ago, new roofs, new windows etc, new development on the old Cravens site at Darnall, All now like a third world ghetto, if you're happy living there that's fine just don't inflict it on the rest of us. It's funny how some posters on here keep saying WE should do this and WE should do that, I don't know if you noticed but we just had a general election and the party that won have said they don't want more illegal immigrant, if you want to feed and shelter them get on with it and don't volunteer the rest of us.
  11. Just what this country needs, more illegal immigrants from Stone Age countries. Let's turn it into one giant Page Hall.
  12. Joker. Can't argue about the tax dodging and public funded bodies paying huge bonuses. I think we've got Trident simply because it IS a deterrent. I also didn't vote Tory, I voted UKIP because I honestly thought we were due a referendum, never having had one on the EU only the Common Market, I also read somewhere Jeremy Corbyn has been Euro sceptic until very recently. The difference is when we've had the referendum I believe we should stand by the result for a number of years then the youngsters of today should be given the chance to decide their own futures.after all everything moves on.
  13. joker. WE don't all hate Tony Blair, a lot of us voted for him because he made Labour electable after many years of Margaret Thatcher, I didn't vote for the disaster that was Gordon Brown and wouldn't vote for any of the present lot. The left of the Labour Party don't seem to realise that a lot of Working class people agree with some of the cuts to benefits the Tories are making and are fed up of throwing money at the feckless lot who think benefits are a lifestyle choice.
  14. I thought the people living in the Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre were failed asylum seekers, so presumably they would be free to leave with even transport provided.
  15. Mister M. Do you mean Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre?
  16. margarita Ma. Blinking heck,£1000 to £2000 for Holiday in Kos from Syria, I'd complain to ABTA.
  17. May Blob. They should have booked with Thomsons, we only paid about £300 and we thought Kos was great. I don't know why they want to leave.
  18. Just seen best yet on BBC news, illegal immigrant in Kos saying " if this is Europe we're going back to Syria. I'm gutted.
  19. Each year I'm told by the government there's no tax on benefits, then I have my state pension deducted from my personal allowance, yes I still pay tax on my pension. Incidentally if you have a wife, husband or partner that doesn't pay tax it's worth claiming the transferable tax allowance brought in in April, it's worth about £17.50 a month.
  20. Anna B, I know it is, but whe I go to the dentist and opticians I'm asked am I on benefits, when I say I'm a pensioner I'm told that doesn't count. According to a definition of poverty I saw we are living in poverty (can't remember where) but like everyone else in the UK we're not, we've all got more material goods than ever. I read recently in the paper about a fat woman living on benefits spending £300 per month on takeaways, this is more than we spend in total on food each month and we eat quite well, but then again my missus actually cooks.and please don't tell me she was being demonised, the paper was reporting the facts according to her.
  21. Anna B, you're right it's not fair but that's the system we've got, you'll also find that with a small private pension plus state pension that gives nothing like the recently announced benefit cap, like me I recently had to pay £400 at the dentist and opticians plus the other year a new boiler full price, because according to the government pensions aren't benefits. Never mind You could move to Scotland where a lot of the things paid for in England are free. Prescriptions, tuition fees and elderly care, it's no wonder they voted against independence.
  22. M18, M62 come off at South cave, B1230 to Beverley through Walkington. A1035 From Beverley, then turn right 1st roundabout on dual carriage signposted Hornsea.
  23. Somebody said on here we need vision, leadership and a will to succeed. Let's build an airport, but with a runway for only small planes. Let's build a stadium for one event, then pay for it until 2020. Let's build a town hall then knock it down. Let's collect the 40 million owed in council tax and rent and use it towards developing the city. Liverpool, Manchester and Leeds have gone through the same downturn as Sheffield but seem to have fought back, if you walk from Leeds railway station to the royal armouries by the water it seems a vibrant area, the Liverpool waterfront area development looks great and I believe the same is happening in Manchester. My siblings and their families have also left Sheffield with no prospect of returning permanently, on visits I hear how dirty Sheffield is with litter and fly tipping, the main offender being Sheffield city counci, every two weeks blue boxes are put out with waste paper, some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to put a fabric bonnet on them, most of those are now either lost or damaged so with a slight breeze they empty themselves. Last week I saw about half a lorry load of stripped out electric cable that he'd been fly tipped about 5 yards from a sign saying " fly tippers can be fined up to 50K" oh yes. At the same time rules at council dump it sites make it difficult to go with a van or small lorry, so is it any wonder people fly tip, and yes I know they shouldn't but bear in mind some people are morons. I occasionally go into the city centre to have a drink with some ex work colleagues, we've been offered CDs, DVDs, tobacco, spirits and razor blades by the local shop lifters, and please don't say they are supplementing their benefits as they are in there when I go in and still there when I come out 3 pints later only leaving occasionally to pinch something else, I know this can happen in any big city but it doesn't leave a good impression on visitors, never mind we have a caring inclusive council so I suppose everything will carry on as before.
  24. Diseases associated with extreme poverty? I'm still suffering with that millennium virus.
