  1. Can anybody please recommend a decent honest ,door fitter as want a composite door fitting, somebody who is actually bothered about making a decent job, not just chucking it in and running off,had a nightmare with a patterned concrete drive last year,Dont same calibre of not giving a toss and running off
  2. Have anyone heard if Kier are still doing work for the council..
  3. Not a central heating fitter, but I would say it is 'possible',..but a bean counter in the council may say the extra cost will make it 'impossible'
  4. All well and good, but shouldn't the people who cant buy have the same benefits,as the council is ducking out and doing it on the cheap and not to regs
  5. Just done a search on it it has been mandatory since 2010,my property which I consider 'new' was built in 2012,and that has zoning, and luckily it wasn't on the vast list of extra's builders charge you for so it must have been mandatory then ,being a 'Greenie' if this measure can save people on low income's a few pounds it can all add up.The more I look into it seems people in social housing in Sheffield are not benefitting from this measure, why should I only benefit because I own my own home:loopy:
  6. Thank you for the info, feels like ive had a crash course in heating legislation, but I do value your professional insite,my relative has worked hard to be in a position to buy the house,i am just worring for her:(
  7. Dug a bit deeper(joys of working from home) all new central heatings in homes over 150m3 should have minimum of 2 heating zones, upstairs and downstairs, apart from single storey dwellings. All new builds have zoned heatings. Sounds like Sheffield council are flouting the building regs,or is Kier to blame.A struggling family in social housing, may well save money,if builders are made to do it in newer housing ,like my own it must be law.Ive always been a bit of a 'Greenie',makes my blood boil when energy is wasted.. ---------- Post added 23-07-2015 at 21:40 ---------- Thanks cyclone
  8. I am currently sat in my house with a recently installed heating, and hey presto 2 thermostats 1 upstairs,1 downstairs, thought it was only a council thing not doing it,but done a search and it has been law for over 5 years, are Kier ripping off the council. ,or is it the council 'doing it on the cheap' can any plumbers on here comment?
  9. A family member recently had Kier in to do there heating last year, and now they want to buy it,had a leak and got a local plumber who lives across the road,he said it wasn't up to regulations as you cannot control the heating separate upstairs with a separate thermostat, and on a survey if he tried to flog it might get picked up,he said most other councils fit it so you can control upstairs, separatly:loopy:
