Virgin Money At Meadowhall To Close
Cora B replied to Annie Bynnol's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Now that Virgin Money have well and truly taken over Yorkshire Bank, VM are closing about 30 small branches mostly around North Yorkshire. Tbh, I'm surprised VM have taken this long to 'rationalise' their Yorkshire Bank branches. They don't want people to go to banks, want you to 'use the app', just like every other business these days. -
Sheffield Churches Committee For Community Care.

I thought it still existed as a charity, now called S and four C's. I'd never heard of it before, until this year. -
Where Were The Floods In Sheffield Monday?
Cora B replied to bassett one's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The photo's were in the Daily Mail too. It was Ecclesall Road near the old Sorting Office. There used to be an area of waste ground there on the left hand side of the road, heading into town, but I think its been built on now. That's probably why it flooded, more buildings, drains not improved and can't cope with a heavy downpour. -
Road Closures - Sheffield Grand Prix Cycle Race.
Cora B replied to Baron99's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
If only that were true. The delays are spread far and wide, not just town centre. -
Road Closures - Sheffield Grand Prix Cycle Race.
Cora B replied to Baron99's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
My husband has been waiting at Hallamshire Hospital since 2pm for an ambulance or, any transport, to get home after treatment. He's disabled, there is no other way he can get home. Nurses said the delay is due to the cycle race and he may have to wait a lot longer til the race is over. I can't understand how it is that a cycle race can cause so much traffic chaos when the race is nowhere near Glossop Rd.... or is it just that the car hating council have closed down so many alternate routes that one road closure can cause havoc to the traffic in the entire city. -
MISSING CAT: Alcester Road, Netheredge (S7)
Cora B replied to Magilla's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Hi Magilla, If your cat isn't back home yet, have you thought about putting the details on Streetlife's Lost and Found (for Nether Edge and tick the boxes for all nearby areas) and, on Lost and Found Cats Sheffield, on Facebook? If you aren't signed up to Streetlife, I could put the details on for you (I'm in Nether Edge), with your permission of course. Wishing you all the best, I do hope your Mucker is back home safe, soon. -
Hunters Bar Vets - what are your thoughts?
Cora B replied to Ruthie950's topic in Sheffield Pet Owners
Can definitely recommend Hunters Bar, although they are not cheap, they are great, especially Will and Jess who are experts on all things cat. Don't worry about out of hours visits, you could always use Park Veterinary Hosp on Abbeydale Rd South for emergencies. I know someone who has 4 cats reg'd with Hunters Bar and they don't drive so they always use Park for out of hours emergencies rather than trailing to Rotherham. Hunters Bar vets don't mind if their clients choose to use another out of hours vet, its the clients choice afterall. -
Too true Medusa. Thats why Sheffield is awash with feral colonies of cats, mostly strays, once much loved pets, stuck, can't get home on their own.

Fantastic result, lucky cat Roxy, thank heavens for the wonders of the microchip and, bless em, rescues with a scanner plus, willing volunteers to do the legwork/transport runs. Wonderful Rain Rescue, going the extra mile!"

Yes thats sometimes the case, but, in this specific instance, not only is there a lost cat called Betty who has now been missing for over a week, but, it involves another cat which did not wander off on its own, it was physically taken from one place to another and, when a reward was not forthcoming, it was not returned to its original home area.

Park Veterinary Hospital at Millhouses have taken wild birds in for me in the recent past, and, they have a contact who takes in and cares for/rehabilitates all types of wild birds. If you can't find the nest and don't want to release it for fear of it being attacked or too young to fend for itself, give Park vets a call on 2363391. They are open til 7-30 at night on weekdays and are really helpful. Bless you and thanks for caring!
