It's a lousy school. It's got a new building, with a new head who spouts management BS. It's still a lousy school.

Some of the flats are really acky. The management is poor. There used to be caretaker plus part time cleaner, now the caretaker is on his own. Dossers and junkies sometimes take up residence in the stairwells. There's cctv everywhere, but that didn't stop a break in. All the work seems to be done by people who put the lowest bid in. They were going to demolish it, but the credit crunch stopped that; they're going to do it up, prob put double glazing in. The kitchens and bathrooms are not very nice, I go elsewhere for bath / shower - don't know if they are going to be replaced. If you're facing in to the middle it's actually reasonably quiet (for West St that is) if you're looking out on to the street I imagine it is very noisy. Heating? Wrap up warm or pay huge electric bills. Believe it or not, I've lived in worse places, eg Gleadless Valley. Living in town is very convenient. It's cheap, if you think £60 / week is cheap. There's no slimy agent trying to take a rake off. People generally ok.

did 2.5 years on gv 8 years ago. wouldn't go back there for a pension. seemed nice to start with, but sooner or later you'll find you just have to put up with a load of crap. If you don't put up with it, you'll be attacked. police and council both useless and any way get no support from locals. don't do it unless you like that sort of place.

you can sometimes do it with magic numbers from the internet - you find your make and model of phone then get a number to enter in on the keypad. Worked on my daughter's phone but not mine :-( You only get a few goes before the phone locks up so be careful...
