  1. No you haven't, you've just expressed your opinions as if they are facts. Here's a fact for you: No Labour Government has ever left office with unemployment lower than when it came in. That's a shameful record for a party that claims to be "for the working man".
  2. I don't think he's planning to object because he "doesn't like it", more like he's concerned about encroachment towards his boundary, privacy concerns, etc, ie valid reasons to object even if the council permit the plans anyway. Did you get out of bed the wrong side today?
  3. If I understand you correctly, they are demolishing an existing dwelling and building a new dwelling in its place? If so it will be subject to planning, which would normally restrict the new bit to the footprint of the old. However, the developer can ask for that to be amended so that the new is bigger than the old. Either way, they will have submitted a planning application, which you can object to, though the council don't have to take any notice, they should at least listen to your concerns and could for example, place certain restrictions on size, etc. I would advise you to search the councils website for planning applications to see what exactly has been submitted and take it from there. I have a link which I use but it doesn't seem to be working so maybe the council have changed their website since last time I used it, but that would be my starting point.
  4. So, yet another thread started by someone, who since a week last Thursday, has done nothing but moan and whinge about the outcome of the democratic process. Yet, when I comment on that, he questions why I am always going on about whinging lefties. I know its hard for lefties to accept that others have an opinion, and we don't particularly agree with your nonsense, so while ever you keep posting your whinging threads, I reserve the right to object to your whinging. But thanks anyway, for proving my point.
  5. You mean the system set up by caring Labour that has now been reformed by The Tory Scum.
  6. Spot on. The whinging left go on about "greedy bankers" but the really greedy people aren't those who work hard to better themselves, but the lazy spongers who think they have a right to live off others hard work. And if the whinging left really cared about the vulnerable, they would support measures to stop lazy spongers taking money out of a pot aimed at helping the needy. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 07:52 ---------- I do wish you would stop spouting your nonsense as if its a fact, which, if you consider the evidence, it clearly isn't.
  7. A brief summary here; http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/
  8. They all look weak. So far I've not seen single candidate that would inspire me, except for the chap who ruled himself out straight away, (Jarvis?)
  9. I wonder if this is The Govt trying to circumnavigate councils. Most metropolitan councils are Labour but putting a mayor in place might put the local council in a more balanced position, keep them on their toes. Though Manchester is mostly Labour, there are Tory areas in the surrounding areas so by making a larger economic area, the mayor could well end up being a Tory. Leeds also has Tory areas, as does East Yorkshire. And of course Boris is Tory though London is Labour. I think Sheffield might be the exception with very few Tories in the surrounding areas. Having said that, I'm not against the idea. IMHO a lot of Labour councils hold back their areas to fit in with their politics so this may give them a kick up the jacksie.
  10. Great depth of knowledge there. Have you been watching CBeebies?
  11. Hardly. The last Govt in Greece was a coalition between a right of centre party and a left of centre party, equivalent to a coalition here between Labour and Conservative, now replaced by a hard left party. Their financial problems have been around for much longer than a term of Govt, they are ingrained within the Greek economy and culture. Many would say the problems were made worse when they joined the EU in 1981, and later, the Euro, as they were lent more money than they could ever hope to pay back, in an attempt to make their economy more like Germany's. Simply to blame their problems on "the last right wing Govt" is silly, and for you to state it as a fact just makes you look stupid.
  12. My sentiments exactly. Of course, you might get shot by anti-aircraft guns if you fall asleep during a meeting, but at least you won't have to put up with The Daily Mail. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-32716749
  13. Sorry to sound a bit harsh but when someone says my child won't eat / drink x, what they usually mean is they won't because they are given an alternative. If the child simply isn't given fruit shoots, what do you think he will do, die of thirst. No, he will cry and moan for a few days and drink other stuff reluctantly, but eventually he will come round. What do you think will happen when he starts schools, they are quite strict these days on what is acceptable. I suspect he would drink water at school but then come home and say he doesn't like water. I hope that doesn't sound too "lecturing", we have small kids and know just how hard it is, for example, if we ever go out any where, such as to the pub or on holiday they can have a drink of coke, the other 95% of the year we don't have fizzy drinks in the house at all so they have to drink something else. Sometimes being a good parent isn't the same as being best mates with your kids.
  14. To get an idea of Sheffield's status look further than infrastructure. Like Manchester we have 2 football teams. Theirs are amongst the richest in the world...where are ours. Look at entertainment. All the big bands and stars that go tour visit Manchester, we are lucky to get "Strictly on Tour" They have excellent theatre shows, we get snooker for 2 weeks. The whole concept of being a successful, vibrant city is down to more than just what our roads are like, but if those who defend the status quo took their heads out of the sand, they would realise just how far Sheffield is behind others and we need to start catching up. Infrastructure is a start, but it needs more than that....it needs a council who will sell the city, and make it a welcoming place for people and businesses to come to.
