  1. Its not about the price Jonathan - paid for a "service" and got a "safety check"!
  2. Contacted Vaillant technical who tell me these things should have been done - which 100% havent:- Burner should be inspected cleaned, seals and nuts replaced and spark electrode removed cleaned gap checked/replaced minimum every five years Expansion vessel pressure checked every three years Condensate trap and drain inspecting for debris and blockages Inspect the heating and water system in particular the condition of radiator valves, evidence of leakage from the heating system and dripping hot taps Bit disappointing when I stated it had not been looked at for 7/8 years ro my knowledge, Would have gladly paid extra for those things to have been done - lesson learnt and will give one of you guys a call for the other properties I have....
  3. Thanks Jf, When you say "Checked seals and inside of boiler for any distress and all clear" would this be just a visual check once front cover removed? Was under the impression the burner needed more attention? combustion seals? didnt check any radiators or the fitted magnaclean? expansion vessel? Just want to make sure Ive done all I can to ensure its being looked after!
  4. Just had a combi "serviced" but all the Engineer did was take readings from the flue etc, only part removed was front cover - didnt take anything off or look inside the burner, replace seals or any consumable parts, or vaccuum it out etc which I was under the impression would be done in a service. When I asked about this he said they only need to do that if the readings are out of spec which mine wasnt, told him it had not been looked at for a good while but he wasnt bothered about that. Is this correct? Seems to me its like taking your car for a service and them just doing an MOT without changing anything such as oil and filters as "its running ok so doesent need it"? Thanks for your advice - 1st post but been a visitor to the forum for many years
