  1. Sad to hear that. Used to knock about with Mark and others in my early teens.
  2. There was a Ray Dexter on Saunders road used to have pigeons in the garden. Think the sons were Mark and possibly Tom. Not seen them for over 35 years, no idea now.
  3. I'll chuck my hat in the ring for that one too. @HeHasRisen make sure you bookmark! 🥰
  4. As someone who despises Tory politics, what choice do I have? Lib-Dems have Gail Smith (met her - can't stand her). Greens I like in principle, but have some bat**** ideas. I just don't bother voting or spoil my paper.
  5. I catch Stagecoach 50 bus when I go to town. I used to pay £3.60 return. Now I have been told by a driver, that option no longer exists, so I have to pay £2 each way. To be fair, he said I can't sell you that option, and let me on for free, even though I offered to pay the £2. Now I just pay the £2 but the cap does me no favours whatsoever.
  6. The cars we were producing were crap. Others did it better. People voted with their wallets. Also the government of the time when we were still manufacturers, prefered finance and service industries.
  7. They can't defend it. They're are using the CAZ as another excuse in their long term plan, to eventually ban all traffic from the city centre. But stupid as they are, they don't (don't want to?) see that they are just moving the problem elsewhere, e.g. Meadowhall. People at Wincobank and Tinsley need clean air to breath too. Don't they matter? CAZ at Tinsley roundabout anyone? Because they realised his behaviour had been wrong and indefensible? Any similarities?
  8. Well of course it is, I know what I would rather do. But then again I am not the leader of a heavily criticised local authority. You would think the leader of the council would be keen to go on local radio, and explain important changes to local practice, when they get the chance. I was pointing out - quite correctly and relevant - that he doesn't show the same reluctance when attending free events (where he may very well be called upon to speak or be asked questions).
  9. SCC implementing mandatory (is it even?) scheme in a shoddy fashion, so they can then blame the current government for forcing them to do it. Don't bother asking for proof, just open your eyes. Sorry. Your point being?

  11. If they have taken early retirement, it suggests they are not working hence unemployed, and not OAPs. Prefer the Belgian.
  12. Buses were not maintained badly in the earlier years of that period. Every 7 years they were subject to a "recert". They were virtually rebuilt with parts being replaced whether they needed it or not a lot of the time. I got bollocked more than once for eating my lunch on a "recert" bus waiting for inspection. Maintenance at the garages on an ongoing basis was more hit and miss. I spent some time at East Bank garage on loan and that was an eye opener. I also did loan time (from Queens Rd) at Greenland road on the test lane doing any last minute fettling prior to MoT.
  13. Give the ticket office a call, they'll sort you out. I recommend you make a cup of tea in preparation for what could be a lengthy operation though. Phone: 0114 253 7200
  14. No, not necessarily as you will see from a post I just added.
  15. Just one example of their outstanding efforts, and lo and behold, its about tree felling. tree felling FoI summary It found that the council "could not locate and provide all of the relevant information in the case of 13 requests and that it "raises concerns regarding records management". it goes on to say . Regarding the FOI requests, the report found in some instances the council had "undertaken a practice of labelling information arising from the tree-felling programme which they considered to be sensitive as 'Not Subject to FOIA.' This practice was inappropriate. And that's before we started on the Kate Joseph's request and intentional reluctance to release information.
  16. Even though it's "general sale" you still need an account to buy a ticket. Register online. And its one customer number/ one ticket.
  17. As I recall the council aren't that keen on assisting with FoI requests, so I imagine the response wasn't exactly received with open arms.
  18. And as identified in the BBC link I provided, there are 377 free spaces available to council employees as of 2021 available in the city centre. Perhaps there still is. That's potentially 377 cars driving into the city centre, around it on their ever so urgent business, and then back out again. Don't look good for a council introducing a CAZ does it?
