Just come across this post, you'll know my mum then, Jane? She always said Uncle Rhino was the one you didn't want to have a fight in a ring with, but uncle hairy would just nut you haha. I was only young when he died, but I like reading up and hearing stories about him.

Only just seen this reply. Yeah I grew up with Paul, Mark, Gary and Mick. I knew Jane too, but not like I knew the boys. Been out on the town with all of them, mostly Gary. I went on Gary's 21st with him to Turnups. I left for pastures new in 1989. If I'm near City road cematary, I pop over to Mark's grave for a few minutes to remember the past. I've looked for Gary's (who I believe also died a few years ago) grave but had no luck so far.

  2. I know this is an old thread, but very little info exists regarding the lido. I went for a walk last week trying to locate it. I went over the tram tracks towards Carrs, but took a right over that concrete bridge onto the waste land. Followed a path until I got to the gates (locked) to the old Cooks area. No option to go any further. The area is really overgrown and largely inaccessible.

I did also walk along the path that goes under the same bridge, and there is a pond where the path meets the road. No sign of any structure though.

    Anyone have any more info?

Well Victoria and Albert managed to knock out nine children that all survived and strengthened the monarchy greatly. It was Edward V11 who started to break the Germanic ties, Kaiser Wilhelm 11 and Adolf Hitler managed to finish the job.

Have to question that mate. Edward VIII was almost certainly in collaboration with the Germans.

Asda charge 32p (or 34p, may have gone up recently) for their cheapest ones, and as said the Co-Op charged 70p, they do offer a cheaper range according to Google but the Co-Op shop I was in certainly didnt stock it, or even have an empty space for them.

I have always found the Co-Op to be more expensive than their competitors. As I said, its no loss (bar possibly jobs going)

Co-Op are very expensive and seem to pick locations where they can get away with it. I (regrettably) Moved from Yorkshire Bank (because their cust service was appalling) to Co-Op bank, which is almost as bad. 1 branch serving Sheffield.

It really isnt. The Co-Op is a rip off, there is a brand new Lidl just opened round the corner, the recently opened Tesco Express on Fargate is probably the same pricing, you already have another Tesco Express and Sainsburys Local nearby too.

Its only a "bad day" for nostalgia freaks.

As said in another thread, I had to go in the Co-Op recently and it was 70p for a tin of chopped tomatoes. It wont even be half that in the Lidl.

As for the rest of the old Co-Op building, that is now being used by other enterprises.

Most well known supermarkets charge around  £1 for a single tin of tomatoes these days.

    Ha. Another one.

If you are a British citizen living in this constitutional monarchy, I can assure you he is your king.

Not My King either and thousands of others.

    You've had your moan now.

    He is YOUR KING.

You may not like it but it is a fact.

No he's not and never will be.

Some of us have our own minds, you sad sycophant.

Heaven forbid that this country celebrates anything.

Always summat to get outraged about.

Nothing wrong with celebrating something work celebrating, the coronation isn't.

Only people in the ward Terry Fox is in can vote for him, every 4 years.  So thats in one out of 28 wards, in one out of every four years.

I put it to you there arent many "inspirational" people knocking about in local politics.

Yeah but he is the current leader of the council, so voting for any of his party potentially gets you Terry Fox back.

    Agree on your second point.

The majority who will benefit won't be NHS consultants though. Pretty sure the main winners will be in "financial services" etc - the people who donate to the Tories.

    Exactly.

I’ve read the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday for years and will continue to do so !

You surprise me. Hateful journalism. Wouldn't have associated you with that kind of thing.

The point I was clearly trying to make is you cant pick and choose what money is spent on based on the sole fact that "you dont like it".

You might not like money being spent on street parties for this, but thousands of people will.

Same for me with libraries. I dont like them and have no call to use them, but I dont moan about it and ask for a rebate as that would just be silly.

Never mentioned asking for a rebate. I appreciate services are provided to meet needs across the  board.

This huge amount of money is not providing a service, it is supporting a jolly and further promoting the brainwashing that royalty is right.

Will the council provide funds to support Republic group protests against the monarchy on coronation day? Not holding my breath.

I dont like libraries or use them, why should I pay for them?

You don't like libraries. How can you not like a library? You might not use it much, but not like?

Libraries are there for you and everyone else if you need them. They offer services that some people may not be able to afford otherwise. The royal family offer nothing, whatever they do is done for themselves, always has been, always will be.

  14. It will help to pay for this ****e.

Sheffield City Council has approved the sum of £296,000 to be spent on events celebrating the forthcoming coronation of King Charles III.
This includes an allocation of £5,000 to each of the 7 Local Area Committees across the city for local community celebrations.
Information about applying for grants and other information (such as applying for road closures for street parties etc.) will be available on the city council website
