  1. McCabe has always been openly vocal about his commitment towards providing affordable family football at Bramall Lane and I see no reason what so ever why he would change this now. In regards to the revenue generated from gate receipts themselves, the numbers are far less than most people think after the deduction of operating costs eg policing, match day staff, utilities etc. Reduced numbers do have a knock on effect in regards to the commercial side of match days therefore it makes sounds business sense to balance it all out by getting the numbers through the turnstyles. Should we achieve promotion then I wouldn't expect any real change in pricing....Look at Preston North End, another club who place strong emphasis on affordable family football. They have priced adult tickets at ÂŁ25 for Championship football and kids tickets at around ÂŁ12......There has been no substantial increase in pricing despite being promoted!. I expect exactly the same from us and the previous 10 seasons are a pretty decent indication that this will happen........And the argument about having to charge ridiculous amounts to generate mass revenue to buy players etc etc....This is garbage!.....Sponsorship and TV revenue in the Championship are highly substantial amounts and Ticket revenue contributes way less......You can still charge a reasonable amount and achieve a certain degree of success......As Preston are showing at the minute, sitting mid table.
  2. They had that one chance that was literally it..... Duffy, Coutts and Fleck were the main difference yesterday, the bossed the middle of the park and completely dictated the game.
  3. A performance not that different to what we have been consistently delivering all season to be fair....the only difference being that we are once again being clinical when it counts. Nor much more to say other than a ridiculously solid performance, completely dominant from the off and could have had 10 goals had it not been for some pretty inspired keeping. Only thing I would have liked other than what we have achieved today would have been billy to break this rough spell and get on the score sheet....that said he missed sitter and came close a plenty ofl times.
  4. Extremely proud sheffielder born and bred... Great to see but to fair I think both sheffield clubs are a credit when it comes to local charities.
  5. Not working tomorrow so a chance to get up and go to the lane to watch a bit of tagger as a fan, about time too. Word on the street is that Wilder pulled the strikers onto the training ground and hammered them with drills according to an interview online...I think the gaffer is right in what he is saying in respects to us having the best strikers in this league, we've made more than enough chances to win the last few games handsomely however we need to be way more ruthless.....that said, I've every confidence in our strikers to turn it around quickly....Players like Billy know how to score goals. The refreshing thing is that we haven't hidden behind anything after the Walsall result! The gaffer was openly disappointed about bossing the game and failing to put away the chances, Billy sharp came out and apologised for missing the penalty and felt hugely responsible for not taking chances ....and all in all, the team were hugely disappointed not to have won which says a great deal about what we are all about. I fancy us to bounce back to a bit of form tomorrow and to win comfortably. Our opponents are far from mugs but we have shown what we can do to anyone in this league on our day and the lads will want to get back to winning ways....if we turn up we will be way too much for them! 3-0 win.
  6. I wish Back tothe stark reality of work and mopping up after Xmas parties I'm afraid! I just think all these injuries will leave you a little thread bare when it comes to genuine quality. There is never a good time to lose a player but Fozzi's ban has taken away your key match winner and without him and hooper I just don't see where the goals areally going to come from....as for the opposition, they will be wanting to bounce back from the Fulham hammering and Yann Kermorgant enjoys playing you lot and scoring against you so I fancy him to score too. Taking anything out of this game would be the resilience that you need if you are to secure a top 6 finish in may but I think it's going to be a tough and frustrating afternoon for you.
  7. Wednesday to get spanked in this one and a return to patchy form. 3-1
  8. No evidence Players refuse to play all the time for no reason don't they?
  9. On the domestic team? Changing lightbulbs or something? I think I will pass on Wednesday's version of Chris Porter thanks
  10. We have agreed terms in principal with a club for a striker that isn't Ched Evans apparently and we are now in for Bogle and Akinde.
  11. Heres a prediction for you......Usual bench warmer Jordan Rhodes will start the game and score at least a brace against you.....this in turn will lead to EVEN more Jordan Rhodes rumours (to add to all the others that have surfaced during every transfer window since his Huddersfield days) And they still won't cough up for him The TV picks of the draw being: Manchester United v Reading Chelsea v Notts County / Pboro Brentford v Halifax / Eastleigh Sutton V AFC Wimbledon Preston v Arsenal
  12. Feel free to point out where I said it was any different. I love the FA Cup....I don't really care about the other commercial cups however the FA Cup is the one we all dreamt of winning when the jumpers went down in the park as kids. I wouldn't have minded progressing as I said, after all it is the oldest and finest cup competition in the world however we have to be realistic about everything and as always our number one priority is always going to be promotion and whatever the FA Cup brings is as always just a bonus... No different to any other season or manager whilst in this league....our cup semi final appearance was merely a wonderful bonus...never the less one that I would have readily forfeited for promotion
  13. An unattractive third round tie away at Plymouth or Cambridge (which is about our luck in early cup draws) or hopefully a double headed Sheffield Derby next season as we re-root ourselves back in the division where we belong. Don't get me wrong I like the FA Cup and I would have taken progression to round three however I won't lose any sleep about it and it isn't as though we have nothing else to play for this season is it?.....Back to "target promotion".
  14. With a usual full strength team I would say that we would be bringing them back to the lane at the very least, that said our usual back four and goalkeeper wouldn't have conceded 3 goals like that. I like the FA Cup and I won't lie in saying that I would have liked to get through a couple of rounds however I won't lose much sleep tonight. The defensive aspect of that being the main negative in the game however Duffy and Coutts were a highlight again particularly in the second half as they worked away and brought us into the game. All in all plenty of positives to be seen and whilst we haven't got the result....We have shown plenty against one of our nearest rivals and we have scored 2 goals against them.
  15. I'm not happy about the scoreline obviously because nobody likes to see their team losing however all in all we have acquitted ourselves quite well and we have created chances here and there. We are a changed outfit most notably at the back which seems to be our downfall in the game so far. We just need to keep going at them really and hopefully pull one back before looking to kick on and stuff. A couple of changes will be made before too long I am sure as Wilder won't be happy at the scoreline as it stands. The scoreline doesn't really reflect them game though. It hasn't been prolific but the chances have been there.
  16. You lot have been far from as prolific as us in games though therefore there is probably some validity in that. The margins in our last few games have been huge in respects to both shots and possession.....for a whole 90 minutes too mind.
  17. I agree with most of the dark side in the respects that we check no longer has a place at Sheffield united football club. He isn't half of the player that he was when last in this league with us and for many a reason (as outlined above), he would just be a gamble and a backwards step. In regards to hitting the back of the net I have no real concerns. Prior to a weird run of game we have been scoring for fun and whilst we may look a little dry on paper over the last few games, quite frankly we have hammered all of the opposition and could have won all 3 by our usual margins. At the end of the day had multiple injuries to key players and a couple playing whilst under the weather including our main striker.....This broke up a successful team and threw momentum a bit despite still playing well enough to win all of the games. Contrary to the usual opinions about busy Xmas period, it is no busier for us....in fact compared to this last month it is light and is our lightest period of fixtures between now and the rest of the season. We are a class outfit and we have just taken points from 3/4 off our opposition, we have one of the league's finest and most in form strikers but apart from that, in our usual starting xi there is only one member of the team not to score. Had it not been for a last gasp Charlton goal against the run of play and had we not missed a penalty and had two goals disallowed, then truth be said we probably wouldn't be having this conversation.....A couple of consecutive wins and this conversation will be long forgotten...and based on how good we have been and are still playing...I am more than confident that this is on the very near horizon! When you don't create and make things happen in games then you worry.........we are dominating games hands down and we are still creating 20 shots a game and the law of averages and previous form both point out that things will drop back into place.
  18. He's baiting mate ignore him In all fairness the Owls fans I have spoken to were very complimentary regarding our style of play in the Chesterfield match, particularly how we moved the ball around on the deck and ran at players. The truth of the matter is that the majority of our goals have come from good passing moves through midfield (with the exception of set pieces really). The equaliser at Charlton being a prime example of this.....A quick one two at the edge of the box and then a lovely square ball and equally as nice finish. Search for "Roy's view from" on google and read the opponents views then come back and try again
  19. Hardly like when all along the majority have been stating that it was always going to come to an end....We aren't enough to believe otherwise. As we have said a hundred times the true test of character is how you bounce back from it and we are pretty confident in our ability to think that we can do it comfortably. I have listened and watched the match from the hot tub whilst on holiday and it was a pretty harsh affair. First and foremost Sharp shouldn't have taken the penalty, you could tell he wasn't confident from missing his last one the moment he picked the ball up......Secondly I couldn't understand why the goal was disallowed and all in all we dominated again and well you pick yourself up and go again. Third in the league and we have been absolutely fantastic...this result doesn't really reflect our season so farand truth be said we shouldn't have lost and didn't deserve to..... Anyway back to my hot tub.......Enjoy Owls, you've hardly had owt to cheer this season! UTB! WAWAW SUFC15
  20. Boody hell Sheridan, good job i'm sat down isn't it
  21. I fail to see this tough December that FR has pointed out? Other than a couple of tough away games at Reading and Newcastle I see 4 games that surely a team with top 6 ambitions should be winning. Preston, Barnsley and Rotherham should be bankers
  22. Which is a possibility of course however we are more likely to achieve success by remaining unbeaten and opposed to being patchy and picking up points here and there. The simple fact is that our unbeaten run has built foundations for the second half of the season and that is what matters the most. In fact based on the point totals of the past 6 seasons, should we make Bramall Lane a for fortress and win all of our home games now...We would be guaranteed a play off place if only just missing out on second place...This leaves us needing to pick up a few wins on the road in order to secure automatic promotion (again based on previous point totals.
  23. In their most recent form of the last 6 games which is considered the most relevant as opposed to the beginning of the season.......Charlton are 7th in the form table, only just missing out on 6th. They too have entered a little unbeaten run now and have scored 8 goals in their last three matches. They are one of the leagues better scorers on recent form and have defensively improved no end!. I said before the game that on paper we I expected us to beat them and we almost did had it not been for slack defending at the death in a game that we simply outclassed in. The proof will be clear to see in May won't it.....I say Charlton will finish top 6 based on recent form...You say they won't. I will bookmark it and chuckle.
  24. Here are a collection of post match opinions that actually matter....From Charlton fans who attended the game! "Deserved nothing today but got a point against a very good side. Utd and Scunny are the teams to catch in our division, they are better than the rest and Karl Robinson will know this too.” “Outfought and totally outplayed. Keeper was superb.” “Absolute day light robbery. Outplayed for virtually the entire game. Sheff Utd well organised, cynical and bossed it. If I was Wilder I’d be fining the [removed] that gave that freekick away at the end.” “Big point that could be. Sheffield United pressed and caused us all kinds of problems. Best side I’ve seen this season.” "Sheff Utd looked a decent side and the better team for much of the game" “Sheffield Utd best team we have played all season, and I have to say that their fans were a credit.” “Sheffield United pressed and passed well but didn’t get the 2nd goal, good side though made to look better by our lack of movement when in possession. Very much a point gained.” “It wasn’t a hideous performance – Sheffield United are just a better side than us.” “I was very impressed with United’s general play, they played with a high tempo and gave our midfield and defence no time on the ball, hence the endless pass backs to Dillon.” “Duffy best player on the pitch by a country mile.” “Best team we’ve played this season , if only we had a player like Duffy . We lack pace and energy in midfield and our full backs never get forward enough . Lucky point” If he improves his strikers, they will start battering teams. His 3-4-1-2 system is progressive, allowing Mark Duffy (21) a free role in behind the front two. They are compact out of possession, close down around the ball in numbers to shut down space and move the ball quickly through midfield when they win possession, overloading the full back areas very effectively. Their finishing and final pass was often poor.” “Generally Blades were the better team at times swamping us in midfield .. luckily they were lightweight in attack and their skilful approaches came to nothing” “Sheffield definitely the best team I’ve seen but they need to find a quality striker.” Sums up what I have read from blades fans really. We dominated the game and ran them ragged but simply weren't at the races in front of goal today which happens to every team. Billy Sharp is the type of player who judges his own performance however and I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up and slam some in on Tuesday night because he is that good.....He isn't one of the leagues leading goalscorers for nothing! Refreshing read though and pretty much reads the same every week... UTB! WAWAW! SUFC15
  25. It does indeed strengthen their credentials which is the point I have been saying all evening since post game. Charlton are contenders based on form and the new manager FACT, you are the one disputing in based on one season in a non-relevant league above. Not being funny but your arguments don't make sense. You are picking and trying to bicker but you have no substance what so ever. That isn't baiting or bickering, that is plain fact and clear to see. Comical really. UTB WAWAW SUFC15!
