  1. Hi, I need a gas safety certificate doing for my tenants in S6. Can anyone recommend a trustyworthy Corgi plumber who won't charg me an arm and a leg? Cheers Rosie
  2. Whether you agree with taking drugs or not the real issue here is that police were stopping and searching people without any probable cause. I don't want to live in a society where the police can just stop me and make me turn out my pockets without needing to give me any reason for doing so. I don't want to be harassed by the police unless I am behaving suspiciously - and if I'm doing nothing wrong I still don't want to have to prove to the police that I'm doing nothing wrong by being searched. Our civil liberties are being taken away from us and it's important that we stand up for them.
  3. Where's Bedroom Bar? Never heard of it.
  4. It's called Shiraz - on Abbeydale Road.
  5. I stayed in, did some work, watched Shameless (Frank Gallagher was my valentine) then did a bit of shopping at Tesco at midnight. And all through the evening I had a massive grin on my face because however single and dull my Valentine's day was at least I didn't have to spend it with the complete and utter tosser I was going out with last February. Hooray for being single!
  6. Spinroc's in Crookes does pretty good tapas, Nonna's on Eccy Road is brilliant for Italian food although the service can be a bit surly, 543 on Eccy Road is very good modern British/European, Thyme Cafe in Broomhill is good modern British/European, in town both The Wig and Pen and Boho on Campo Lane are good - modern british/European. Artisan (which used to be Thyme) in Crosspool is really good - you guessed it modern British/European None of the above are mega cheap (around £25-£35 a head including drinks) but they are good. I have to eat out a lot for my job and I reckon these are the best places in Sheffield by a country mile.
  7. It's Thyme in Crosspool that is now Catch and Artisan. The Thyme Cafe in Broomhill remains as is.
  8. They do serve pints at the weekend - I should know I drank enough of them on Friday! And the football crowd were absent for a long time last year, they just re-emerged towards the end. But I have heard rumours of a stabbing quite recently...
  9. I drove past the Earl on Saturday night at about 1am-ish and there were at least two police cars with police hanging around outside - anyone know why? But I was there on Friday night until 4am and it's true there wasn't any trouble then.
  10. I was in there last night for the first time and there didn't seem to be too many straights in there. It was cheese-tastic but rather good fun and a pound a drink. Bonus!
  11. It did go mega downhill, but reliable sources tell me that it's now going back uphill because management have started to take the dodginess problem seriously.
  12. Um, all that's left of bed is a small section of its facade - the rest of the building, let alone the club doesn't exist any more. It's been like that for months!
  13. My channel four reception was absolutely knackered this morning. Thought my telly was on the blink so glad to hear it's not just me. Annoying though int'it.
  14. Hi, Can anyone recommend a qualified sparky who can do an electrical safety test on my house? Also does anyone know roughly how much this ought to cost? Cheers
  15. I'm letting my house out to mature students and my insurance company won't insure my house once they've moved in. Does anyone know of any companies that will do buildings and contents insurance for landlords renting to students? Cheers!
