  1. Looking at the map it seems the whole of Stannington will be affected, starting at Wood Lane up to the village & down Myers Grove Lane. The area down to Rivelin Valley Road & Liberty Hill. Also roads around the park. New limits will be indicated by signs & road markings. No speed bumps as they're too expensive. It's also being introduced in eleven other areas. Hope this helps.
  2. Yes, I remember the shop now hillsboro. Thanks for jogging the memory. You could get anything you wanted in those days, now its charity shops, estate agents & just general run of the mill stuff.

  6. Greenwoods traded here from the early 90's, taking the shop over from Burtons ......now a Subway (eating shop). Upstairs was a betting shop, Thorpes.
  7. There used to be an outfitters called Parkers, next to the jewellers of the same name . Probably the same family.

  9. Dont worry Moonbird, it's hardly a squeeze & a slight tap . Don't get the idea it's like assault and battery........it's all very playful.
  10. My wife got me first for a change.........we always pinch punch.
  11. Hi Longy. I always felt safe at night, even on the odd occasion when I forgot to lock my door. There are quite a few 'gennels' connecting the various roads, but I didn't feel the need to keep looking over my shoulder when using them even late at night. In my opinion it's a very nice area, the houses seem very well built. This is only my opinion & others may have a different view, but I enjoyed my time there. Good luck whatever you decide.
  12. Hi Longy. I lived on the older part of the estate (Collingham Road) until march this year. It always seemed nice & quiet with no problems that I ever heard about. Five minutes walk to the shops & plenty of supermarkets a 15 minute drive away.M1 crystal peaks & rothervalley on the doorstep. Dont know about the schools but I'm sure they'd be o.k.
  13. Did anyone stand outside when an 'A' film was showing and ask , "tek one one in mester please". Wouldn't happen today.
  14. Got to agree with you there bladefellow. Some nice coastal walks & Robin Hoods Bay just up the road.
  15. Winking Willys, on the front opposite the harbour. Was there recently, always plenty of customers inside. Nice fish 'n chips, we always go there. Enjoy your weekend.
  16. John & Jim Myers , remember them both from school. Both a bit quick with the deliveries if I remember rightly, couple of nice lads as well.
  17. After having a s.a.e. returned , I managed to get an online receipt from their website. What does anyone do if they haven't got access to a computer.Thank goodness I won't have to deal with them anymore......and all for £10 ground rent.
  18. Hi sheffieldcat. This comes as no surprise as I was quoted £60 for a receipt as proof of payment of ground rent during my recent property sale.E&M are just greedy.
  19. I went to Meynell Road 51-61 and remember most of the teachers mentioned, plus a few more.
