  1. I got some from John Lewis on Thursday & the rate was €1.167. to the pound. Think it might have dropped a cent today though. Don't there's any better rate in town.
  2. I remember Vic. Chapman, lived in the first house on left on Meynell Cresc. We went to the same school but haven't seen him in many years.
  3. There is a notice in the dentist waiting room advising people not to park above the clearway signs on Ash Street as it is frequently patrolled by traffic wardens.
  4. Just finished Lee Child's Make Me. A little bit different from his previous, whereas his novels usually punch along, I got a little bogged down in this one.Might just be me.
  5. If you're staying central Adeje its about 20 minutes walk, but there are plenty taxis & a decent bus service up to Los Christianos.
  6. Hi webbo21. I've been to Costa Adeje a few times, there are quite a few karaoke and singers bars in the area, but comedians & tribute acts I'm not so sure about. Maybe in the high season you may find them. As its only a short walk into Americas that may be your better option if thats what you prefer. It is one of our favourite places with plenty of bars & restaurants. I'm sure whatever you decide you'll enjoy it. I hope this helps.
  7. Great stuff from the Owls and the fans also played their part. Never stopped singing, brilliant atmosphere.
  8. Thought it was just me. Does seem to happen on quite a few programmes though.
  9. Did anyone see the photo of the Meynell Road teachers in last saturdays Star , retro section. Taken around 1955 some of the teachers I recognised were Fairhurst, Fleming, Bunting ,Brammall & Hemmings.Lot of women teachers I didn't know.
  10. I bought a t.v. from John Lewis only last week. The salesmen are very knowledgeable and never once tried to sell me any extras. Their t.vs.are price matched & free delivery as well.
  11. I see this quite often on the side streets down Langsett & Infirmary road, especially the ones just below the tram stop near Wood street. In fact the dentist has a notice in his waiting room warning people to park below the sign on the side street. Must say the traffic wardens are pretty quick in this area........easy money.
  12. I had a test drive in a Renault 12 when Gregory & Denches were on Kilner Way. Not sure if they moved there from barrack hill or visa versa . Penistone Road / Leppings Lane rings a bell though.
  13. "Zeds dead baby. Zeds dead." Butch to Fabienne on taking the deceased Zeds motorcycle after she asked who Zed was.........Pulp Fiction.
  14. I wouldn't think so bullerboy as I was only part time. There was some staff changes at the time and I'm sure they brought their son as a manager, also a guy called Bob Gorrill who later went to work at hillsborough .
  15. Yes , I remember mr. & mrs. d.from when they used to visit the garage.
  16. £1 for 4 gallon, doesn't even buy a litre these days bullerboy.
  17. Bang on tup, usual food for the masses. Cheap to buy & easy to make. About 7 or 8 years ago I had a rabbit pie in the Yorkshire Bridge, but somehow it wasn't quite right.
  18. Could probably fill a car up for less than £3 then bullerboy.
  19. Back in the early 50s I used to visit an old aunt who used to cook pig's face for sunday dinner. A couple of weeks ago I ate at the Cafe Royal in London & guess what was on the menu.........pig's cheek. Looks like some of the old foodstuffs may be making a come back.
  20. Yes suzyoo, it was a Fina petrol station. I worked on the pumps 1972-73 ish, petrol was 33p-36p a gallon.........happy motoring.
  21. Not a shop, but there used to be a tyre place as well, just by supermarket car park.
  22. I think there's a petition on this forum, not certain though.Went past this afternoon & it looked as if the press were getting involved as a small group was having a photo taken.
  23. Nice to see people helping someone out........well done lads.
