  1. Quite a few American cities have large areas of blight classic examples been Baltimore , Cleveland East, Detroit houses can be brought for a dollar from the banks but the land taxes can be has much has sixty thousand dollars plus repairs on top making it less than worth while . A few take the plunge to rent the houses out . The American economy is all over the place many here think it will collapse at any time . Going back to the abandoned neighborhoods the weird thing is the city still pays for the street lights to be on even though no one is living their.
  2. Since the referendum the pound has been weak prices have risen my brother back in England was only telling about this the other day. Will this settle down soon or later after the UK has left the EU? For what I can understand the DUP want a soft Brexit to remain in the Custom Union and single market to lessen the impact of leaving were May wanted a hard Brexit which to me would be very damaging to the economy. Read online the talks with DUP are difficult but didn't go into detail on what at a rough guess it's Brexit has no country has ever left the EU no one really knows how this will turn out.
  3. I will say this for May space is the limit cost no problem along with the train set dream I thought the country was broke every penny counted. But in the planned Queens Speech are plans for a space development an idea nicked off UKIP who wanted to mine space for a profit. Has May been watching too many Star Trek's it costs America millions of Dollars each year for its space programme which always comes under fire from the Republicans over the cost of it. Let's see if this happens perhaps we will see where no Tory has gone before.
  4. Killing someone is against the law in any state regardless of religious background . He chose to get into that van and drove to that mosque with the intention of killing people no ask him it was murder.
  5. The way things are going you will need an entire forum to discuss Brexit ! So the battle lines are drawn EU Vs UK should be be interesting.
  6. It was just a matter of when and where that someone would take the law into their own hands without thinking their actions will play into IS hands. No doubt IS will use this to further their brainwashing the young who will be ready soldiers of death. RIP to victim.
  7. I'm part Scottish ( mother's side) and American ( father's side) but born in England so I'm English by birth I wouldn't class myself has British I'm I proud of my country of birth maybe.
  8. Number one : buy yourself a nice Primark suit ideally reduced. Number two: spend hours in front of a mirror talking total crap it greatly helps your confidence. Number three: must have a large ego and question your sanity. Number four : when anyone ask you a question make sure you answer with a question never be honest about anything it will never get you voted in. Number five: spend hours watching Theresa May footage or Trump footage to the learn the art of crap public speaking . Number six: make sure you surround yourself with yes people who will clap at anything you say no matter how bad your speeches are. Number seven: if all else fails you can at least you can take your suit back and get a refund . Follow this advice you be in number ten in no time.
  9. Time will tell ---------- Post added 11-06-2017 at 21:44 ---------- A agreement that has kept the peace without it more people would have died.
  10. Shame the Rutland got like that sounds like it's struggling given half a chance could be a nice place.
  11. The problem with Northern Ireland every party wants power if they think anyone has more say all hell breaks lose. The then Labour party came up with the Good Friday Agreement in 1998 in hope of pleasing and disarming both sides which it did but some saw this has a wash out. Just before this general election their were problems in the NI Parliament over the usual subjects. I agree compromise is not easy but this case it's going to be really difficult has some will see this has favouritism to one side. Even if the DUP was not anti gay or anti abortion it could see be seen has a dance with the devil .
  12. Thanks, I honestly believe the UK is going down a rocky road May looks like a dead woman talking looking for answers in the wrong places in hope it will turn out just fine. Politics seldom works that way perhaps a second referendum is needed but this is not time our political system is unstable we have Brexit on the horizon that could potentially send us off the cliff.
  13. After the 2008 crash many Americans had their homes mortgage foreclosed and many made their cars or RVs their home. Still quite a few about sometimes in groups sad state of affairs.
  14. So you think it's worth destabilising Northern Ireland so that your favourite party can hold onto power at any price? You should read up on how long it took to get a peace agreement between all sides even now one wrong move could easily start it up again. By going into a coalition with DUP the oppersition like Sinn Fienn will see this has a threat to the power sharing agreement which is overseen by UK Prime Minister clearly you see this has a price worth paying so the Tories can stay in power.
  15. Brexit has become an Tory slash Irish affair I don't see it ending well .
  16. . Best laugh IV had in ages please feel free to write another.
  17. I'm going into the realm of what if here. Do you think David Cameron could have done better than May?
  18. We keep hearing this mantra of yours enlighten us on your thinking here. Labour and the SNP have common ground ture SNP are more centre left of Labour but a working relationship would work. DUP has links to Ireland's trouble past but yet during the general election we were told of Corbyn's supposed links to the IRA and told endlessly not too vote for him. But yet May can form a coalition with a party who are more too the right than the Tories and on occasion caused problems in the devolved Northern Ireland Parliament and could undermine the peace by endorsement of DUP by the Tories a dangerous game to play given how long it took to get peace and disarmament of terrorist groups .
  19. I suspect this will effect Northern Ireland' s politics which in turn could well affect the peace it now enjoys a peace that many frought so hard to get.
  20. May could rule has a minority government without a coalition but would need other parties votes to pass laws not ideal and oppersition parties are unlikely to help. The DUP is right wing so their is some common ground with the Tories the other parties are more too the left in Northern Ireland.
  21. The high turn out of young voters was good and needed it shows they are interested in politics has much has the older end are. Corbyn did well in fairness better than I expected .
  22. Getting into bed with DUP is a bad idea their is a risk of stirring up bad feelings in Northern Ireland. I don't see it working either the DUP is anti LGBT the Tories brought in gay marriage the DUP are deep rooted in their thinking and they will push for what they want I suspect when the newish wears off May might end up with war on her hands . Has I understand it the government will use vote by vote basis great if both agree but that's not always going to be the case interesting times ahead. ---------- Post added 09-06-2017 at 19:48 ---------- The DUP support a soft Brexit they want to remain in the Custom Union and the single market. The DUP manifesto wants to keep triple lock on pensions along with winter fuel allowance which the Tories wanted to means test issues like this could see the coalition strained .
  23. Well the big day has arrived . Like IV said in a early post I strongly suggest that young people go out to vote it only takes five minutes it's your future at stake. Talk to your parents and grandparents on what you want your fears too. No good moaning after the election if things get harder if you didn't vote this election is important more is at risk than before. Let's make it cool to vote.
