  3. Lakelands Exhibition Tuesday 19th – Friday 22nd June Winter Garden Surrey Street, Sheffield 8am-8pm This exhibition showcases the beautiful artwork created by local residents of the Sheffield Lakeland area; exploring their honest views and opinions about their community. The area encompasses the towns and villages of High Bradfield, Low Bradfield, Dungworth, Stocksbridge, Deepcar, Wharncliffeside, Oughtibridge, Bolsterstone, Midhopestones, Worrall, Loxley and Stannington. As part of this project, Ignite Imaginations delivered creative sessions in 4 groups in the local area including primary aged children, people over 55 and adults with learning difficulties. The participants used creativity to explore the positives and improvements needed for the Lakelands and this resulted in this very honest and detailed work about this community. 'What Sheffield Lakeland means to me' A creative consultation led by Ignite Imaginations commissioned by Sheffield Lakeland Landscape Partnership Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust has been granted initial approval for a £2.8m Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) grant to set up a Landscape Partnership aimed at protecting and improving the city’s unique Sheffield Lakeland area. The partnership will seek to deliver a more natural and resilient landscape for people and wildlife. Partners include organisations such as Yorkshire Water, Sheffield City Council and Bradfield Parish Council, and community groups, residents, farmers and land owners have already expressed their support for the project and form part of the steering group. The Partnership area encompasses the towns and villages of High Bradfield, Low Bradfield, Dungworth, Stocksbridge, Deepcar, Wharncliffeside, Oughtibridge, Bolsterstone, Midhopestones, Worrall, Loxley and Stannington. In the 1950s, a Sheffield bus company, drawing inspiration from the numerous reservoirs which define the area, established tours to visit “Sheffield Lakeland”. Appreciating the boldness of that vision we have brought the name “Sheffield Lakeland” back to life through the Partnership As part of this project, Ignite Imaginations delivered creative sessions in 4 groups in the local area including primary aged children, people over 55 and adults with learning difficulties. The participants used creativity to explore the positives and improvements needed for the Lakelands and this resulted in this very honest and detailed work about this community
