  1. I'm collecting stories about Sheffield based on what you would say to your younger self. Imagine that you were walking down Fargate or the Moor. Shopping in C & A or Coles. Catching the tram or bus. Walking out of school for the last time or walking into work for the first time. What would you say to yourself.... A paragraph or two would be great. I'll share them on my website spillthebeans.net.au. Oh if you visit check out Sheffield author Steven Kay on our Q & A panel. He's terrific!
  2. Does anyone have photos of a typical corner shop in late 60's early 1970's? Did you own / work in one. What was it like? How did you order stuff? By phone? Mail? Did you have any favourite or nightmare customers. Love to hear from you.
  3. Looking for your stories about what it was like to be a young hairdressing apprentice in 1969 in sheffield.....Can you remember what it was like. What were some of the funny things that happened? How was it different to hairdressing today? 4. This is a photo of my grandfather holding my father, Laurence, who contracted polio as a 2 year old. I have posted a story loosely based on his time at Lodge Moor Hospital on the spillthebeans.net.au website. I'd love to hear more of your stories, so do check it out.
  5. Skoppydickle, mardyarsedbugger, flummox, chuffinell are just some of the local words that have been sent to my challenge on nowtbutdrippin.com. Wigtwizzle, Jump, Wombwell and Wetwang are some of the great place names along with sayings like, "face like a bag a spanners", "square moulds for threshing machines", and of course "put wood int oyle!" Have you got more? Would you like to join in our challenge? It's free, it's fun - all you have to do is add a word, a sentence or a phrase to a story. Last week we had over 200 entries, but we'd like more! Congratulations to Sarah Allen, John Andrews, Jon Barrett, Lynda Connor, Gail Everett, TerryLynn Ladybird, James Ridge, Andy Longford, John Saunders and Pauline Smith - we chose their entries to start off the story.. Now its your turn to give it a go. Have a look at nowtbutdrippin.com and send your entries through.

Is there anyone out there who did something like this or who knows anyone who did?

  19. Hey... If its totally confusing for you... then guess how I feel. I think it was Ron, but you know it could have been Pete. I think back then the hill at Hillsborough was called the KOP. I keep finding references to loads of oranges being thrown ... and I'm thinking they couldn't have been cheap then... or were they? But why? I don't know if it happened to any other players... does anyone have a clue?
