  1. So did they go away as Southend fans after that result?
  2. FACT - The defence that played against Burton was weak as you've stated yourself. Hence you need strength in depth so that the same back four are not used when an injury occurs to Louvens, Lees or possibly Hutchison. If you had strength in depth then you wouldn't have to use excuses about Semedo and Lees replacements not being up to standard. A good defence one season doesn't ensure same results season after. Look at Chelsea and Man U's recent seasons. Chelsea went from Champions to mid table due to goals being conceded but it was same defence as season before. Owls do not have strength in depth defensively. United don't have strength in shallow anywhere on pitch either before you have a pop. As the saying goes " Opinions are like a***holes, everyone has got one". You don't have to agree but if everyone agreed with each other this forum would be further up the creek!
  3. Possession does not win games. Scoring goals and not conceding does. Both Owls and Blades have had majority of possession in most games but yet only have 1 win and 2 draws between them out of 8 games. England were same at Euros and look how that worked out. Burton were quite direct against United last season but when posters brought it up they were labelled as dummy throwers. Take the loss on the chin and hope it's one of the few all season. To clarify, Sod possession, let opponents play tippy tappy all game. Just put the round thing in the back of the net!! Or in Uniteds case at least get a shot on target!
  4. What are you going on about? Shearers transfer was a world record at the time and involved two English clubs!
  5. Article in Daily Mail charting the World Transfer record since the first 1M player and Shearer is on there for 15M: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3714468/Paul-Pogba-100m-footballer-1m-player-Sportsmail-chart-rise-world-transfer-record.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490
  6. According to Sky Sports it was a world record as its 20 year anniversary http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10516219/how-does-alan-shearers-record-breaking-16315m-fee-compare-today
  7. Surely this was beaten years ago when Alan Shearer moved from Blackburn to Newcastle in 'what was then' a world record £15m transfer?
  8. Clough may be doing well at what you call a 'smaller' club but don't forget Burton were already top of the league when he took over. I don't agree with getting rid of any manager in such a short space of time as they need time to bring together their own team. Its not the manager out there on the pitch for 90 minutes. Yes they provide the players with the relevant instructions and formations but as has been seen with United, half of the players just don't give a damn about how well they are playing, just as long as they are still getting paid. In a normal work environment, if you were underperforming you would be given the sack or a warning. In football its the Manager who too often pays for the players performance. Look at how far Chelsea have fallen this season. Did Mourinho turn rubbish overnight? Did Hazard forget how to play all of a sudden? I'd give Adkins one more season. Let him bring in the players he feels are needed. Yes I know he's brought in other players that have underperformed but maybe they don't feel they should be playing with heart if players that have been here a while just can't be bothered. Its not helped matters when you get players like Baxter apologising through the media for the teams performance and then finding out he's failed a drug test. Adkins and the players have constantly been in the media apologising or stating United are a big club. Its about time they focussed on matters on the pitch and not making excuses for their lowly position. It's all getting ridiculous now. United have chopped and changed too many managers over the last 10 years. Wednesday went through a similar scenario back in the days of Jewell, Wilson, Pleat, etc. They now look to have got a manager that focuses on how the team performs and not how the opposition are going to play. If other clubs want to come to Bramall Lane and treat it as a big game, then let them. United need to focus on how they perform, stop thinking about how their opponents are going to play and just get on with winning again.
  9. Am I reading this right??? Owls moan when Blades come onto an Owls thread and start commenting and then when they don't come on you still moan? :D Many Blades are probably not on here as they didn't have a game last night and as much as Owls like to think the Blades are 'obsessed' it appears the Owls are more 'obsessed' with where the Blades fans are. Don't worry they are still around! There have been quite a few new Owls posters appear on here over the last few weeks so may be wise to stop calling the pot black, Mr Kettle as no doubt it will come back to bite your derriere
  10. Cuttsie, wind your neck in. When Blades were in Playoffs the number of threads about them outweighed the Owls ones and were started by Owls. If you want a Forum dedicated to SWFC then please go to Owlstalk and leave this one alone. Blades are just as bad moaning about Owls posting on Blades threads but it's a SHEFFIELD FOOTBALL Forum and everyone can have an opinion!
  11. Typical Frankie. As soon as someone starts answering his original question he starts to reword it to ensure he gets an answer digging at Blades. Frankie, your tag line may state you are most popular contributor but it's only in your own small world. :loopy:
  12. As I'm bored and in the mood for being annoying I'll answer this for you Frankie. The list contains numerous names that have won countless trophies in their careers. Bruce and Robson won a fair few as did Weir even Wilson managed to pick up a trophy that you Owls fans can't wait to bring up whenever honours for either team are mentioned. There was no mention in either of your comments that the question was based on Managerial Career at Blades so :P
  13. Swindon having same type of mare as Blades this week. Losing to Yeovil so Swindon would be preferential as opposed to free scoring MK Dons.
  14. http://www.sufcdirect.co.uk/mobile/71_HOME-KIT-1516/153_Home-Replica-Kit-1516/
  15. Surely Manchester should be docked points as most of their fans come from population of London don't they? ??
  16. It's 2 in 9 for last 9 League 1 games and 3 in 9 for last 9 in all competitions. Although all 3 were cup wins. Don't think it's any wins in 6 in League. United up their game for the bigger clubs and it appears L1 clubs do it against United. But at moment United don't seem to have a plan B. As painful as it is they are still on playoffs but need to bring in players in Jan who can give them a boost (like Brayford did last season). They haven't really seen much of Davies and Clough doesn't seem to be playing a settled side. It's still early doors and this stage last season we were looking at avoiding relegation. All these numpties on P&G saying Clough Out need their heads looking at. If they did get rid I doubt any big name managers would come as its L1 football after all.
  17. Not stating obvious but surely Sheffield United link the Striker and Vonk? :hihi: It it Van Persie for the Owls question?
  18. Who are the 2 loan players? By my reckoning we've brought in the following: Undisclosed: Higdon McNulty McGahey Free: Basham Butler Campbell-Ryce Davies McEveley Turner Wallace As far as I am aware we have no loan players. We tried bringing in Freeman and Bennett but it fell through due to Freeman's supposed overpriced wage demands. I hope you haven't got your information from the crap that Sky Sports spouts. They have both Davies (signed permanent with SUFC in June 2014) and Freeman in on Loan and Miller to Shrewsbury on Loan (despite him signing for Coventry pre-season).
  19. Better get ready with your Owls draw and Blades..........errrmmm balls it up again
  20. Where you getting that from as it's only 1-0 at moment. Hope you ain't got a crystal ball
  21. Looks like Forest are splashing cash on League One players as well: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28681698 Although I'm surprised at the price as someone once said League One players are only worth £750k :hihi:
  22. You have to hope that if the takeover does happen then Mammadov doesn't turn out like this clown http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2717222/Leeds-United-don-t-chairs-owner-Massimo-Cellino-mess-engulfed-Elland-Road.html#ixzz39YiYz1aN Surely if this mess was ratified by FA then Mammadov shouldn't have any problems.....unless of course he's even worse
  23. SUFC Friendly Results W2 D1 L3 F8 A11 That OK for ya? And for those asking about Jim Phipps then have a word with GVOwl as he has inside knowledge on when Phipps is expected to leave SUFC. He's already stated that should be happening around now as its a month since Prince left. See Post #70 in this one: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1320828&page=4 And we know GVOwl could never possibly get anything wrong :D
  24. Can you explain what the Liverpool Adidas is? Last time I looked Liverpool were supplied by Warrior not Adidas. I've purchased the new shirt and the only issue is with sizes being smaller than the Macron ones. The Blades Badge and Adidas Logo are both stitched on correctly (i.e. the right way up and in right places). Yes £45 may be a lot for a shirt but still cheaper than the abysmal England Shirt by Nike. You get what you pay for quality wise. I assume the Sondico Shirt is around £30? lol :P Or do you pay more for Sondico Logo being right way up? :D
  25. GVOwl is so argumentative he will tell you that the World Cup Final was yesterday
