  1. Hasn't she already said that she finds nothing wrong with it? Just because it offends someone else, doesn't mean Pattricia has to be offended by it too. Some people are offended by jokes about the McCanns, comments about football teams, or any other number of things. Because one or a group of people are offended, doesn't mean everyone has to be.
  2. I have to say I think there are worse things to worry about in modern life. Plus, I'm just jealous that no woman has ever made such signals to me...
  3. You know rapists don't only rape attractive women right? It's generally thought to be about power, hence the rapes of 90 year olds etc. ---------- Post added 22-11-2017 at 12:58 ---------- I shouldn't have to worry if I've locked my door. I do though. That's why I check twice. I shouldn't have to worry if I'm safe in my Wednesday shirt, walking in S2. I do though. That's why I don't wear it round here. I shouldn't have to worry etc etc etc. It's all well and good saying problems should be fixed in society. They won't be though - not for many generations, if at all. Crime has been an ever present since the dawn of man, and I'd suggest ever will exist. Whilst crime exists, giving sensible advice, not blaming anyone, should be accepted in the spirit it was given. My insurer told me that I should never leave my car running outside whilst it warmed up, and that if I did, and the car was stolen, they wouldn't be paying me. Is that victim blaming?
  4. This argument goes on and on and on, but no one is disagreeing. Everyone agrees that the fault lies with the person committing the crime. Of course it does. No one, ever, would disagree with that. What people are saying is that it's not wrong to give sensible advice. - Don't walk in dodgy areas alone - Don't leave your house unlocked and go on holiday - Don't leave your keys in your car - Don't accept drinks from strange men - Don't wear a Wednesday scarf and go drinking in the Cricketers or somewhere on a United home match day In all of those situations, if anything happens of course it's the fault of the attacker/burglar/car thief/rapist/chav thug. Of course it is, but the above remains sensible advice, just as much as 'Don't eat too much fatty food' does.
  5. Sadly that's nothing unusual. I've seen Judges say literally stupid things over the last 20 years, far worse than saying someone shouldn't have worn a short skirt. Some Judges, like some people, are idiots. Those Judges are generally old and their equivalent of social media is sadly Court. That's where they express their views. There is (or certainly was last time I was there), for example, a Judge in Leeds who takes her cat to work, and it sits in her chambers with her, when hearings are taking place. She talks about the cat in hearings. It goes in the official transcript. That's what we're dealing with.
  6. There was one in the Hammer and Pincers car park in Bents Green at the weekend. Huge sticker on it saying 'untaxed vehicle'
  7. The current Disney exec (name escapes me, forgive me), is being placed on leave for 'unwanted hugging'. Hugging. When did hugging become an assault? Surely there's got to be an element of motive/intent here - if he was trying to sneak a grope, then fine, but it's a hug, and he thought clearly he was being caring. Where does this end?!
  8. When I click any of them I just get a calendar? Random. Are they searchable? Which bands were you in Dan, out of interest? You and I probably know each other if you were around in the L2SB and Sheff Sounds days!
  9. Can't get that to work sadly, which is a shame, as I remember the old L2SB days very well!
  10. I think they would, but I do think that if you had an MOT lapse, they might refuse, on the basis that you didn't disclose a material fact. I think it's very difficult to say though unless in that situation
  11. But, it's still worth less than a classic e-type that you'd lovingly restored that had passed its MOT, so they would pay you the lower value. That's how insurance works.
  12. They would likely pay you the value of a car with no MOT, which wouldn't be a lot. If your MOT runs out during the course of your policy though, I'd argue that was a disclosable material fact, and they could void the policy on that basis (or rather refuse to deal with any part of your claim)
  13. Exactly that. They're duty bound to pay any third party under the terms of the Road Traffic Act (even if your car is stolen and hits someone - it's still your policy that pays). They can and will consider failure to maintain the vehicle and/or disclose lack of MOT as a 'material fact' and refuse to pay you on that basis.
  14. I love it. I can't be bothered to work out where my MOT certificate is, to print my insurance etc and take it to a post office. Click online and it's done. Can't fault that.
  15. That's life sadly. Santa will be getting paid, and minimum/living wage increases. Ditto the elves etc. Costs of lighting and so on, buying presents etc, all increase year on year, so they've probably done that to keep the cost to children down. It's all the same money of course, as the parents pay it, but it's psychologically more appealing if it's a fiver for kids and a pound for parents than £6 for kids I would imagine.
  16. I think you might be right. I remember going as a child as my parents did their shopping there and can't remember ever getting petrol there at that time. I know they had it when I could drive, but can't remember it before, so you might well be right on that.
  17. I was in my early 20s when it closed I think. Something like that, perhaps late teens. I remember going for petrol in my old B-reg Fiesta though! I seem to remember that the car park in front of the store was fairly large, and as you drove in, the petrol station was to your right, so left if you were stood looking out of the store. It wasn't huge certainly. There was also a second car park to the left of the store from memory. I wonder if there are any old overhead shots on google maps....off to look!
  18. Yes. It was on the right as you went it, about 100 yards from the store entrance (but on the left as you walked out of the store)
  19. I was a witness to it too and the police tell me they've arrested the idiots responsible, and located the owner.
  20. Do monsters celebrate Christmas? Are they even christian? Should someone boycott John Lewis? PS The Moz toy is really cuddly and kids love it. Definitely recommended.
  21. If you really want to lose faith in humanity, have a look at the comments on their Facebook page. Are there really that many knuckle draggers out there?! (You need to read between the 100,000,000 questions as to whether the meat is halal) I genuinely don't know how Tesco's social media team don't just tell a lot of these idiots where to go.
  22. Really? I did think it was a bit large for just HSBC. Was half expecting it to be student flats
  23. I really like our parks - think they're very important in the city - but what lets them down is the public toilets. The ones in Graves Park for example are literally vile. I'd rather go in the woods (but don't). I know it comes down to funding etc, but it's a real shame as they're very, very grim. Endcliffe isn't much better, which surprises me.
  24. Zoe Round at Irwins. I can't stand Irwins as a firm for their practices personally, but Zoe is the best out there.
