  1. I was thinking this, 'experiences' are much more important than money. You cant take it with you.
  2. If you value yourself by net-worth and are poor financially, then by definition you've failed. However, many people have a more rounded view which is a lot more healthy than always chasing a pound note. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 16:59 ---------- I know, daring to look out for people and thinking of others welfare, jesus...its terrible.
  3. Apprenticships are different to NMW jobs. the low wage offsets the training companies can give to young workers - that means resources and time spent on them, and of course they get an education and experience thrown in to the bargain which sets them on their way. What I dont agree with is big companies taking advantage of this and other schemes for cheap labour.
  4. After an unprecedented rise in the population, around 5 million in the last 11 years how close is the UK to breaking point? How close are we to being 'full'? where public services cant cope etc. Another 10 years or can we turn this around?
  5. school was awesome...its crap being a grown up.
  6. the vast majority dont want a conservative government. Hence the protests. Get over it.
  7. It's a fact, projecting forward, the cons only got 36% of the vote of the turnout....so about 20% of the pop. So we can safely deduce from the vote numbers the VAST majority of the population did not want a conservative government. And there are protests because the VAST majority of people reject the conservative ideology - sorry pal but if you back conservative youre in a minority.
  8. do we get more career politicians with increased pay?
  9. Ur begrudging a hard working civil servant a pay rise on the basis of an independent review, they have nothing to do with with?
  10. I know its reet hard for some people to understand why people protest so I got this from wikipedia: A protest (also called a remonstrance, remonstration or demonstration) is an expression of bearing witness on behalf of an express cause by words or actions with regard to particular events, policies or situations. Protests can take many different forms, from individual statements to mass demonstrations. Protesters may organize a protest as a way of publicly making their opinions heard in an attempt to influence public opinion or government policy, or they may undertake direct action in an attempt to directly enact desired changes themselves. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 14:51 ---------- In some countries you can't protest. Think ourselves lucky to be in such a free country.
  11. A protest is only useful if it effects / benefits you. I get it.
  12. you said protests are pointless...history tells us thats not the case.
  13. Pay them £200k a year but ban them from holding any other paid position while they are an MP are for 1 year after they leave. They may not sit on any boards whether paid or not and they may not invest any money outside of parliament pensions, ISA etc. Currently they are paid too little so MPs seek 'top-ups' through ethically dubious positions outside of their MP work. Both Labour and Tories have a large number of MP who sit on the boards of private healthcare companies and to me this is a huge conflict of interests. Yeah, I partially agree. The healthcare board issue needs sorting. However, I disagree with banning them from taking a second job aslong is its not a conflict of interest. Why shouldnt they work and pay tax and use that real world experience to benefit constituents? It's a lot of justification to raise MP wage levels to such a high level. It becomes more of a 'job' than a public service if we compare to private sector. The PM is on less than 150k. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 13:09 ---------- suppose what im trying to say is being an MP is a public service position. They are our servants, so what they 'do' is not privy to the same sort of pay mechanisms as private jobs (imo).
  14. protests bring the issue into the public domain...look at this thread. If thousands of people did this every week the government would sit up and take notice. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 12:52 ---------- two words POLL TAX
  15. They get paid about just right. Quite a lot of costs involved with being an MP. I don't think they should get paid like CEO's or be compared with the private sector...it should be on par with other high level civil servants. Between 70k and 100k is about right. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 12:49 ---------- Remember Kate, a lot have second jobs or businesses. They do alright out of politics and the public purse and get plenty of flexibility. This is all cost to the tax payer, I dont think 350k would go down too well!
  16. School was great, uni was ok, 20s were crazy, 30s are mundane. Everyones either married and unhappy, boring or having an early mid life crises. Is this it? Hoping the next decade picks up a bit. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 09:07 ---------- Think i peaked in that respect too. Not interested in pulling women anymore either. Got better things to do. ---------- Post added 18-05-2015 at 09:10 ---------- Carpe diem. Or think of that eric idle song...always look on the bright side of life!
  17. Thats what i said. Whats this law abiding business
  18. They only get 8 quid. And be glad of it.
  19. So why use the words. You insinuated the socialist minority were non law abiding. Tell us why or retract the statement. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 20:25 ---------- Its got lots of dumbo tories talking about whingeing lefties on forums.
  20. You said: are outnumbered by the silent, law abiding majority. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 19:49 ---------- Ur talking crap again ron. Stick to making blue movies
  21. Did you love or hate school, has life got better for you or Worse? Loved school , playing sports and having hardly a care in the world, I seemed to have hundreds of mates, now hardly any. Apparently this is common...are school days the best of your Life?
  22. The tories would of won under pr too, but then again would more people voted under a different System? 5 million votes and just 2 seats that's ridiculous. I'd be gutted if I'd voted u kip. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 16:01 ---------- Am marginally richer under cons, but then again am not disabled or on Jsa Or in the public sector or,,,, well the list goes on. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 16:02 ---------- Work should always pay. I don't see much between the two main parties in that sense,
  23. There's no whingeing going on, only from you. It's a straight debate, either for or against mp raises and why. ---------- Post added 17-05-2015 at 15:00 ---------- That's what a question mark means, it's a question. like why are some people so Dense and can't read posts properly?
