Hi everyone - i'm so impressed at the responses to this thread!!! Had no idea it would spark a meet up so thanks Anne for sorting that and all your hard work! - sounds like it will be a good night, and i'm just looking forward to getting out of the house and meeting everyone! :-) How ironic is this - I headed out into Sheffield on Saturday night for the first time properly with some new people i've met (woo-hoo! I was actually socialising - shocking...) and my boyfriend drove us into town to meet his friends and drop me off, and while we out, our car got broken into! Usually I would just drop him off and drive home rather than park up, so it's become a bit of a joke that i'm not destined for a social life........... ;-) Look forward to meeting you all on Weds Sarah x

Oh no, I can't do Thursdays!! In my attempts to get a bit more of a life since starting this thread, i've agreed to coach a netball team on Thursday nights starting tomorrow!!! Arghhh!! Hi Ali, I came along a few times to training last year but haven't been since early Dec or so as I had a bit of an accident! All's well now, but if you needed a hand umpiring/coaching, i've done some preliminary courses but am not fully qualified, though i'd like to do that this year. Hi everyone, I've been in Sheffield for a few months and am finding it really hard to meet new people. I moved here to be with my boyfriend which means I haven't any other housemates to get to know, and although I play sports (netball) and go to the gym, I haven't found that many friendly people at either! There isn't anyone at work even in my age group (mid 20's!) really so that's also difficult. Is anyone else in a similar boat does anyone have any other ideas?! I'm getting a bit bored of my boyfriend's life being my entire social circle! ;-) What did everyone else do when they moved to Sheffield?? x

Hi there, No I wouldn't book it at a casino, it's just not the same!! Get a function room and hire in croupiers and casino tables which isn't as expensive as it sounds!! That way, you get a private room, with a private bar/disco area etc for a buffet if required etc :-) x

Hi all, I'm thinking about organising a Christmas casino party in Sheffield for about 100 or so people, and just wondered if anyone would be interested in coming along?? I'm new to Sheffield, and love events, so I thought i'd try and pair that with meeting new people and came up with this! I'd look to make it a regular thing if there was enough interest?? Hi everyone, I'm a qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language, and have just moved to the area. Does anyone have any advice on the best areas for me to advertise classes, and even to hold them? I'd be interested in having 2/3 classes a week for about 10 students.
