  1. luckily because the improvement works are iminent the inspection took 5 minutes, which involved taking our details, telling me the rent account was in credit and that the place was going to be gutted when we moved out as long as we took all our rubbish we were fine. gracex
  2. i am moving away from sheffield and vacating our housing association (parkway/wybourn) was council when we moved in. they are coming round to inspect on wednesday to see what repairs we have to pay for. the improvement works are due to start soon and to be honest the house is in a bit of a state, but compared to when we moved in things have improved. the problems are, we have slowly been going round the house taking off wood chip, very old and tatty, but as we've gone round pasters fallen off etc, some has been replaced some hasn't because i hadn't got round to reporting it, they saw the house on pre works inspection and said nothing. the other problem is the doors, all the frames are rotton and the doors don't hang/close correctly. according to the neighbours before we lived here the property was really badly negected and had various short term tennents and was also empty for long periods. we have lived here for 4 years, but how do i convince the inspector the problems are long term not caused by us, i don't want to be left with a bill for previous tennants neglect or councils incompetance?
  3. i received one and was about to phone virgin to question. thanks for info gracex
  4. i know its been discussed before but i am moving 250 miles away and it will take between 4/5 hours in car, if we don't have any probs. is there any way to prepare my 2 cats for this long journey, how do they cope for travelling this long, and whats the best to do at the other end, there won't be a quiet room for them to be in, although the bathroom may surfice! do cats get car sick or will they sleep for the journey. 1 cat is happy to come when called and i would risk getting out onto lap in car if he gets upset but he other cat is much of her own mind and will have to stay in her carrier. do i feed them on journey or just water? sorry so many questions. gracex
  5. i brought mine in the middletons (?) on moorfoot. you can get various colours and remember they grow really quickly so need cutting back hard after last frosts. gracex
  6. thanks also for the tickets:D my 12 year old son loved it and came out with lots of questions, the second half was especially great with the 3d effects grace
  7. hi, i'd travel back to 1939-45, although such a horrible time for the would it was also a period when many local communities pulled together, where you watched out for one another. i wouldn't want to be a great hero just someone who could do small things that could make a difference.
  8. I travelled from buxton to sheffield on the bus the other day. the driver spent his whole time on the phone. it was a rather scary drive. why don't the bus companies clamp down on this? TMTRAVEL. he spent most of the time talking to someone from the company about running late so they are aware. grace
  9. my step mum died last june, dad manage to alienate the whole family by talking about meeting some one new even before her funeral. other than me the rest of the family aren't talking to him, this includes 2 of his children and 2 step sons and extended family and friends (i am his oldest child), by september he had dated several women but since then he has been (on and off) with the same one. she is nice enough and i can live with his choice but she seems to be turning into a clone of my step mum. i am not worried about any inheritance but i know my siblings are. so we now don't really have a family but that may have happened just with mum dying not because dads dating again. grace
  10. our max brings in live birds , last time a sparrow, before that a rather large magpie:loopy: then he lets them loose in the living room:suspect:and all hell breaks lose as bird tries to escape, kids scream both cats go mad:hihi: gracex
  11. we are upper wybourn/ skye edge boundary road area. wonder if its worth reporting to housing association, although i've a feeling its owners own their house gracex
  12. well after a hot tip we trailed up the road to its owners who informed us it had to be left alone and refused to let it in. luckily another dog owner has taken it in for now. grace
  13. we've got a small to medium size dog lose up here in wybourn. last time we took in a stray until monday morning for it to go to the pound. the local kids are tormenting this one,not nastily but anither to wind it up, whats the best thing to do now as i don't really feel i can take it in at the moment? grace
  14. hi my son has just knelt on my cooker hob and fractured it:loopy: so i'm looking for somewhere i can buy and get delivered a cheap new or secondhand electric cooker. any ideas of any shops out there? thanks grace
  15. :mad:My 11 year old son soils himself daily due to anxiety/stress, we live in a housing association house. (parkway/wybourn). i think we really need a shower for my son as its not hygenic , and also more expensive for him to have several baths a day. our homes are due to be done up in 18 months to 2 years but i really don't think i can cope without a shower that long, tried a thing on taps but not good water pressure. I have asked housing association for help but they say i will have to get signed permission for it then pay for it myself, then after its done they won't do any more up grading on bathroom including double glazing the window:mad: he recieves DLA and i get carers for him and i am a single mum on income support. does anyone have any advice on how to go about getting funding for a shower and/or not affecting future works that need doing. many thanks grace
