  1. Having arrogant high ranking officers in the SYP hidden away on their ivory towers is not a new phenomon, it has been the case for a great many years, people who think they have all cornered the market in good ideas and good sense, who look at anyone below the rank of Chief Inspector who hasn't spent time in the inner circle of police headquarters, as s..t on their shoes. And to those who say the police look after their own,,,,not a chance, if a cop does something wrong, those of high rank rip him to shreds without mercy,,deservedly so sometimes but often not so deservedly. But they have now been found out and years of decisions by inept inexperienced high ranking officers with no experience has come back to bite them. Those with no sense or experience cannot properly show those coming behind them how to take over and the whole ability to command is continually watered down to a state we are in today. Unfortunately it is these inept armchair warriors, who have never seen an angry man and are upset if they are not in their nice warm safe bed every night, that are driving all this stupidity. I wonder did anyone see the programme about the SYP a few weeks ago, did you notice how many high ranking officers running around with paper in their hand who were fawning around after the Chief Constable ranks who were more interested in making targets look good rather than getting thing done that mattered When one considers that it is now being considered to get graduates to go straight into the job at a commanding high rank, what experience of policing do they have ?? then you can see why the SYP, indeed most forces, are in such a bad state. But then again, when you consider that the Police Commissioner is a lowly politician with absolutely no Police knowledge or experience, that he can influence and control the workings of a Police Force, again little wonder all this is happening with the Police, the whole world has gone mad.
  2. Hi Olive, mine was particularly bad, buy small ivy grown in small pots for decoration is fine, but the stuff goes wild given a chance and even when you`ve removed it, you must be vigilant or it will grow back given half a chance. But good luck, the advice that neighbours are usually ok with it is sound advice, they may well be pleased you are doing it. But very good luck ---------- Post added 25-02-2015 at 17:49 ---------- By the way lol in spite of all I`ve done, I have just seen a small sprig of the stuff coming out from a cavity in the stone wall around my back yard, I pulled it and found the whole root, about 1" thick was inside the cavity and still live..... mummy!!! where my weed killer and bleach lol
  3. I cut a 40` sycamore tree down earlier this year and a neighbour said he would buy the wood off me ??? I thought he was setting up a steel smelting furnace somewhere given the amount. He took a lot of it, cut it into decent sized bit,(in situ leaving me the mess to clear up in my garden) he filled his garage and when he had moved his Audi A5, most of his back yard saying it would keep him in firewood for a couple of years !!!! he brought the missus a couple of bottles of wine as a thank you (I don't drink)!!! I told him to keep the wine along with a few more references to him being cheap skate, he don't talk to me now !! Wish I`d posted it on here now, rather give it to those who deserve it than give it to perishers lol I called myself an idiot many times after that !!!
  4. Thanks Obelix, I am not really bothered at the moment at looking at the stars, though there is no light pollution to the back of out place at night and the stars are always putting on a good show, I am just wanting to look at distance objects say up to about 20 miles. < Have you any views on that please
  5. We moved into our house almost a year ago, a detached stone house that the previous owner of which was an idle git and didn't do any maintenance at all. The garden was overgrown and ivy covering the paths, walls, lawns and the whole of the front and side of the house. First night we had to jemmy open the windows for air and when we awoke next morning we had slugs all over the bedroom that had obviously been living in the ivy and crawled into the room overnight not to mention all sorts of flies. Before daybreak I was cutting the roots and pulling as much off the walls as I could. When I got to the roots they had grown into and blocked the drains and down pipes from the gutters. When I had removed the horrible stuff from the walls I found all sorts of pests and insects living in it including mortar eating insects in the cement which eventually needed totally repointing (very expensive) I finished up having to literally nuke the whole garden and months of shovel work to get rid, it took 6 months and even now as spring starts I keep find little sprigs of the stuff all over the garden so I will have to keep on top of it because even the smallest roots will take over if you don't watch it.. Basically Ivy should be banned, it is horrible stuff and causes untold damage. Good luck if the owner of the ivy wont cooperate, but would say that if it causes damage to YOUR property then maybe if you tell him you`ll send him the bill may focus his mind. If its growing over you property you CAN cut it off and put the trimmings back onto his property. As regards weed killers, normal weed killers don't work, you have to obtain specialist which is expensive and I ended up spending almost £200 pounds on it. But whos to know you have poisoned it. they have to see you to prove anything ???. Good luck So good luck
  6. Hi I am sure there will be some expert out there who can properly advise me. I have just moved into a house with amazing views across country. Binocs are not powerful enough so I am wanting a powerful long reaching telescope. I have considered getting one of those for night sky gazing but wonder if such a one would be right or just not right for looking at land based subjects in the stance. Any advice would be great. Thanks
  7. HI Kidley, No, blame is not a word I would use but it must be accepted that some girls and indeed some boys, are very sexually experienced.(how do we hear of 12 year old girls pregnant) The law rightly so makes it rape or defilement depending on age or indeed unlawful sexual intercourse, but it has be considered that some children may have sex with older blokes quite willingly or actively encourage sex and weak willed people cannot resist as they should, but the adults are ultimately to blame because they know they shold not have sex with these children, end of, no excuse is valid. Most early teenagers these days demand to be treated in a grown up fashion(not sexually) and act very grown up with a grown up view on life, but we must not lose sight of the fact that some of these children know exactly what they are doing when they engage in sexual activitied with older people or those of their own age. Lets not forget here that this sort of crime is not new, it has been going on and ignored for many years indeed when i was at school in 1964, one girl aged 13 was pregnant and we all knew what went on "behind the shelters". But I stongly believe like everyone else, however that in the more recent cases that started this whole CSE sitiuation, these men set out deliberately to have sex with these girls knowing they were easy targets. They committed their filthy crimes with filthy purpose so should feel the full force of the law or any of the more colourful punishments that we can all thing of. Some comments on here mention the parents not knowing where their kids are at night....you just try to stop your stroppy teenager from going out at night and see what happens. What w can only hope is that they will return home safe and sound... and hope that while they are out they will `behave`
  8. Pleased I didn't offend you. Certainly you got the wrong interpretation of my comment I DO NOT think ALL these children are substandard, far from as I know from MY experiences. I am sure we are all on the same page regarding concern about kids being abused and what should be done to those involved in this Child Abuse and we are of a relatively similar age group KIDLEY it seems. I DO NOT blame these children and I don't agree that they are worldly because they have been abused in the first place either as one writer says. Though I don't know what a PIE is ??? I have had a life and career that led me into contact with many. I wont say what I used to do but would submit I may have a little more experience than most, of the worst that humanity is capable of and I still maintain that there are `children`not all, out there who are more worldly than I. I agree some have had a life of abuse right from being babies but equally I know some kids from "normal" family upbringings, that say and do things that surprise and shock normal thinking adults( and I mean extreme things) and don't care what they do or say no matter who they hurt physically or upset but it is for the adults in this who should say no and don't take advantage of youngsters who when they get older will know better. But what do we do when these children are taken advantage by other children of their own age? I maintain that we parents should be strong enough to stay the course and guide and care, not just abandon them into social care when the going gets really tough, as I know from MY experiences with my own. ---------- Post added 15-02-2015 at 10:15 ---------- As I have said in previous comments, I think we are all on the same page in concern about CSE and the poor kids involved but I am sorry Mr Bloom, I don't agree what you quote as fact that they are worldly because they have been abused in the first place, that's not fact at all and in many cases far from it.. I do agree there are many aging out of touch judges, one of which I am not I hasten to add. But must confess to not knowing what you mean by PIE ???
  9. Yes as always the poor old dog suffers because of inefficient owners....however there is a law which the council should be well aware of and that is they can impose a `noisy dog order` upon the owners. But don't blame the dog, they are only as good as the owners make them !! ---------- Post added 15-02-2015 at 09:44 ---------- even the police can take action with a noisy dog order too !! but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one.
  10. Why were there a large number of Pakistani men blocking the Tinsley green event how many of them were there and were the cops involved ?? Who was the guy with a film crew...whats all that about ? Who was the noisy bloke.
  11. Sorry KIDLEY, if I offended YOU it was not meant to do so indeed nothing I eve say in this forum is not intended to offended but to increase discussion.. But I think YOU miss the point. No I don't think my comments are uncalled for they need considering along with every other comment on this site. I had a son who was very hard to handle but I handled him without sending him into a home for someone else to look after and he has turned into a very hard working worthwhile member of the community through my efforts and his own not through council intervention ! . I agree that SOME parents may not be able to cope and the best place for those kids would be in a home, but I think they were in a minority in this case. I do agree however that regardless of whatever situation took them into these places, then they SHOULD SHOULD have been protected from these groomers. But dare I put something else controversial to you, did some of these kids actually want to be protected from them ? I have met some children as young as 14 that were far more worldly than even I in my 66 years, could ever be. A hard question that should be considered ??? ---------- Post added 13-02-2015 at 10:17 ---------- above should read that everything I say in this forum is NOT intended to offend
  12. I agree, I also wonder why the parents of the abused kids are so up in arms about it all and that their kids weren`t protected ?? To true they weren`t protected but I have to ask, why were their kids in care in the first place ? I bet the parents aren`t asking that of themselves ? ---------- Post added 12-02-2015 at 17:08 ---------- I wonder who coined the phrase "put a donkey up for labour round here and they`ll vote it in"
  13. Whole heartedly agree here mate, I know its an old cliché but the old saying still stands in Rotherham "put a donkey up for labour and it will get voted in"
  14. Those councillors who have resigned were on the `cabinet`they should have been sacked, not just allowed the dignity of resigning. The cabinet has gone but they are still councillors and the only people who can sack an elected councillor is the voting public, but you can bet they wont resign from being councillors, the money/expenses trough they all had their snouts in was too deep and too lucrative to let go easily so whats betting they will all get themselves back in one way or another. Lets hope the voting public now see what a shower they have been voting in year on year and vote for a complete change and new order of things. Rotherham has been ion the dumps for years because of all this
