  2. Hi I can't get hold of my regualr boiler guy, could anyone recommend someone reliable to come and do an annual boiler service and hang a radiator. Many thanks!
  3. Hi I had a letter from virgin in March ago which I am pretty sure stated that I had to upgrade and use their new 3.0 media hub otherwise my broadband would cease to function by the 1st of May. I have the hub but am having tons of problems connecting it (Despite the instructions being super simple it doesn't cover what is happening with my computer when I try and connect). I am quite happy with the broadband box I already have so would rather leave it as it is. I am wondering if anyone else who is a virgin customer has had a similar letter as I can't find where I put mine. I looked online and can't find any information (on their site or elsewhere) to state that this is the case. I'd be very grateful if anyone else can help me shed some light on this. many thanks
  4. Thanks for replying, I looked around and £5-6 seems to be the rate, always like to check with folks on here about some things. I got my son sorted out now. Berty he is doing Jujitsu :-)
  5. Hi I am looking to get my son into martial arts (kids class) I was wondering how much one should pay per class or monthly options. I'd much appreciate if anyone could tell me what they pay/ or charge if you are an instructor. I have my eye on a place already but it seems quite expensive so I wanted to gauge it first. Many thanks.
  6. Hi folks thank you for your responses; when I phoned my ISP (Virgin) they couldn't help, I don't think the guy could understand English very well to be honest, they then transferred me to another person who tried to sell me a package for £10 a month, I didn't get into that so told him I would sort it myself. turned out the LAN settings had changed, it ended up being a simple matter of changing it. I also updated the drivers as you suggested MoZ you were right it did take less than 5 minutes once I knew where to look. thanks again:)
  7. Hi as the title says I have upgraded to Windows 7 and now have a connection issue with the Internet. I get "The proxy is refusing conections" or error 651 There is a lot about this error 651 on the web but little in the way of solutions I could fathom. (Scam sites abound so I guess this is a common error and people get duped into downloading malware) I was wondering if anyone knew any simple remedies. I imported all settings so don't know why it isn't working (the laptop connects fine as before) any help much appreciated
  8. Hi the boiler in our house has died; had it re-lit and it went out again within days (it is ancient) so will have to have a replacement. Just looking for good tradesmen willing to give a quote and advice on replacement, plus fitting. I will check back on the thread Thursday or please pm my inbox. many thanks
  9. Oh I don't know it is easy enough to verify some of what truthlogic says here, well collapse of the dollar in 18 months may be hard to verify. However, the gold/silver is easy enough to see. Just head over to the kitco website, which shows gold/ silver have skyrocketed, if you had bought silver this time last year you would have doubled your money (fact not conspiracy if one is bothered to look) I am guessing there are some here that didn't believe and didn't benefit. Silver/gold isn't done yet. These tend to go up when currencies get hammered/devalued. U.S. keep raising their own debt ceiling over $14 trillion now. Don't need to be a conspiracy theorist to look back in history to see what happens when governments print money to excess, the facts speak for themselves. I don't think it is the apocalypse, as for the food thing, maybe not as dramatic as you say but yeah food inflation is also hard to refute. hey rickiethecat it might be worth you going over to the bookies on London road and betting that the price of gold/silver will increase. It is an easy bet as long as currency gets destroyed/devalued you are on a winner. It will reverse when faith is restored in fiat money but that isn't looking to be anytime in the near future. So whilst all of what truthlogic says may indeed be hard to verify some of it is supported by fact and has merit. of course you may not care and just want to bash truthlogic for presenting a different view.
  10. Well that must make it ok to kill people for profit then; lot knowledge first-hand what Depleted Uranium rounds do to the human body and tomahawk missiles. Perhaps ethics and morality go out the window when it comes to scientific advancement, on the same note you can thank Nazi scientists for their work on G force/gravity pressures on the human body (test subjects) with which knowledge, putting people in space became possible shortly after. you can acknowledge benefits (I'd agree with the above comment) but it is disturbing that for some that means it is ok to murder people. Suppose it is a choice to ignore facts and common sense that challenges a world view or simply interpret them as one wishes.
  11. @Dan those instructions were spot on, however so were your fears about the spark igniter as I wasn't able to get the pilot light on at all You reminded me of when it went out when British Gas were doing repairs in the street and knocked everyones pilot lights off. He had trouble getting mine back on, first night he failed so came back the next day as this wasn't so long ago and because he needed to come back I am guessing he got it on using something other than the spark igniter.
  12. Hey thanks for the numerous replies i wasn't expecting a rapid response so soon I have had a look the type is Glow-worm Capricorn 246N combined central heating boiler and space heater It was installed 3/2/1980 (making it 30 years old and 2 days) I don't know if this helps with familiarity
  13. Quick question; I have an old style boiler (over 25 years) When i click the heating on I hear the flame and ignition today nothing and no heat. Needless to say the pilot light isn't on, I just wondered if there is a simple solution to this. I had the light knocked out months ago (as did everyone else on the road) when gas works were being carried out in the street guy came and got it working again. Seems to be a lot of knowledgeable tradesmen on here so I thought I'd ask many thanks
  14. Yup you convinced me, looks like I'll be walking up there later thanks for the info folks:thumbsup:
  15. thanks for the reply Mathom; I thought as much, I am quite far out yes but will hopefully be able to drive part of the way to my brothers and then walk home perhaps 50 minutes, get some exercise:D
