  1. I know it's probably a bit late but nobody has mentioned getting a book on how to use the thing. Buying a DSLR (without knowing how to use it) will get worse results than they'd get with a compact. I hope Classic Rock has took that Canon PowerShot too. A good book for a newbie to DSLRs is Complete Guide to Digital Photography by Ian Farrell
  2. sky on fire Ok it's an old one, the camera settings were all wrong, It's not even at night (it was a morning shot) but still it's a red sky Johnny, if your photos are on flickr just click share (third icon bottom right), select BBCode, set size to medium 640 or 800 then copy the code and paste to your post.

  5. I agree the Tamron is a great lens and because it's an FX lens you can keep it if you decide to go to a full frame sensor at a later date.
  6. I'd say the Canon EOS700D or Nikon D5300 are about the best you can get in that price range. http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/canon-700d-kit-18-135-stm-1277-p.asp http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/nikon-d5300--18-140mm-vr-kit-1531-p.asp
  7. Too much work Rich, very nice stags BTW, wish I had time to get out there myself Thanks Buggz
  8. My latest attempt in North Wales took at 500mm handheld (didn't have time to set the tripod up) Buzzard cr2 by InsanePenguinPhotography, on Flickr
  9. For me the horses looking over the wall is best, yes the focus isn't perfect but it just makes me wish I was there.
  10. I know how hard it is to get a decent deer shot so not bad at all, it's a roe deer btw
  11. Snails and under ripe strawberries? Not my favorite combination but nice pics all the same.
  12. Lovely colours there Mr Sheffield. A few more of St Georges Peregrine Peregrine flight by InsanePenguinPhotography, on Flickr Wheres your head at by InsanePenguinPhotography, on Flickr Fast food delivery by InsanePenguinPhotography, on Flickr
  13. That lens isn't going to be as good as a £400 tele zoom but it is still capable of decent images. If you do go for this take your camera with you and ask to try it out in the shop, by doing this you may even get a mini lesson on basic technique.
  14. The first one is an old SLR lens (before digital) and like it says is manual focus only, the lens should physically fit on your camera and work fine in full manual mode ie. no auto focus or metering. So unless you can do what the old school film photographers used to do with light meters and stuff I'd leave that lens well alone (hence the price). I'm not familiar with Pentax gear so I can't advise on what's good or not so I'd say take your camera into a shop and ask them (you don't have to buy anything, just look like you might) they will tell you all you need to know Seen this Tamron 70-300 in Jessops
