  1. eeew, ok, no problem.. dont like thoes personally, so uncomfortable
  2. I would personally reccomend these.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-5177-HD457-Headphones/dp/B00009QH7F/sr=1-2/qid=1168294449/ref=sr_1_2/026-2942360-7546812?ie=UTF8&s=electronics Sennheiser HD457 they are quite a deal bigger than those you posted up but they are the comfyest headphones i have EVER used (and I have been through loads) and they can keep your ears warm in this bitter cold.. I have some but have used them so much, and had them so long that the cables funny on the right side...
  3. the MINUMUM Requirements for broadband at the moment is usually Windows98... whilst they say you require windows XP, thats the reccomended, but it doesnt mean it doesnt work.. If you want to run windows XP, The MINIMUM system specification i would personally reccomend would be along the lines of: 1Ghz CPU (XP did quote as being 600mhz as minimum) 256Mb Ram (XP quote as 128, but its really REALLY slow) 3GB HDD Space to install (It can be done on less if you get a 'lite' version) then the rest should be fine regardless..
  4. i can do that, as can most people with a laptop or PDA as most PDA's and laptops have an infra red port... let me know
  5. i run a 17" @ 1280x1024 and a 19" Widescreen @ 1440x900 and I must say the WideScreen is my favourite I'd go for the 19 inch however
  6. ahh, but thats not always the case.... My wireless isnt encrypted and the chance of anyone getting in and using it is about 1 in 999,999,999, anyone is willing to try I use mac filtering and only the MAC addresses I allow are assigned an IP from my network... its much easier since some things handle because devices handle WEP and WPA differently, and some devices have one and not the other so it can mess things up..
  7. It has been known to be under the keyboard also.. you'd have to slide the thing above the keyboard, before the hinges for the screen, then the keyboard will lift up, and there's a memory slot under there.. this is mostly on older HP machines, on some current Compaq, and Advent most of the time though it is on the bottom as people have said above
  8. thats better, 1/2 the ram of the other, but the rest of the spec makes up for it.. spend £30 on some ram and your sorted
  9. the problem is that people want 'cheap' laptops, for business use, not for playing games, a 1.2ghz Celeron is enough for browsing the web, word processing and playing mp3's, so thats all they provide.. companies will make cheaper laptops because they will sell.. the higher spec expensive ones are still widely available.. other reasons, especially with cheaper laptops, the batteries dont last as long because the batteries are cheaper laptops, so to a) save cost of manufactur, and b) to make the batteries last that extra 15 minutes, they use slower cpu's and such like, as these are really the biggest power hog...
  10. Agreed melthebell, if my IRC was used (not saying it will be) I could give JoeP IRCOp Status (higher level admin) and he and me could give the moderators Operator status so they can kick/ban users if required... we can provide a bot that will prevent floods, swearing, mass capitol letter useage and various other options.. you could also have notes, topics, a welcome message etc.. plus the chatroom would be there, when the forum site is down for maintenence or if there's problems, so it could also be used as a support tool Yes there are CGI and java based web IRC clients you could integrate into this site, almost exactly the same way as the current chat room... There might need to be a couple of modifications if you wish users to have thier own account on IRC to 'reserve' thier username, and so it will auto authorize to thier nickname (so moderators can get operater status auto, and people cant pretend to be who they are not) but i think it would be worth it in the long run, and I can assist in any modifications required.. I really think you should reconsider the IRC option
  11. The battery's not that good on that laptop... the rest of the spec isnt too bad, but you can get slightly better battery life and better GFX for around the same price elsewhere
  12. i still say they should have used IRC, If they used my server i could moderate it etc, and its easy set up, and can protect the users too... plus people wouldnt have to use the websites java chat applet, they could use mIRC, Trillian, xchat, or whatever IRC Client they wanted to.. I might try suggesting it again!
  13. ty evildrneil - thats just perfect Thanks too maggi, but it wasnt a javascript approach I was after, it was a straight preg_replace regex
  14. Im still attempting to learn Regular expressions, and how it all works, but I need a regex NOW! and not in a couple of weeks when I have learned it properly... I need a regex match for... <form name="Form1" method="post" action="login.aspx?referrer=80" id="Form1"> then I need to change the action to action="newurl.com" and leave the rest intact.. any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks a bunch xD
  15. Radiators emit small EMF because they are connected to the Earth of your mains electricity, plus the heat rizing, I have known many monitors to go 'wobbly' (CRT ones mind) because they are near a radiator or similar, I have also known PC's to crash when-ever they are near a radiator, and not because of a heat issue... so yes, it CAN affect things, its un likley, and doesnt happen much, but it can happen
  16. I have a Flash cart for my Game Boy Micro/SP and i have to say, its cool sticking 10+ games on it and playing them, mines only a small sized one though so no DVD or movie watching for me, though it is capable...
  17. Why not just get a USB Bluetooth dongle for your PC (they cost like £5 now) and then bluetooth it to your PC?
  18. Ever laptop i have ever had or seen has the option to increse Video Ram, why would they set it at 32 then say "Maximum of 128Mb Shared"
  19. i think the OP has made it into a single 'movie' file, If you make a photo video CD nero does this, it converts all the images into a single video cd movie file.. i have found alot of DVD players are a bit fickle about playing these... i'd suggest trying it as jpg's, in whch case its just a simple normal 'backup' CD drag and dorp the jpg's onto the disk and write them as standard...
  20. Its a 20GB EIDE, hard drive, just about any laptop hard drive thats EIDE and the same physical size should work fine..
  21. You wouldnt expect it to no, but there's a possibility
  22. a 171 MB Pdf, what you got in there? any ways, to upload a file you will need your webspace address, username, and password, then you will need an FTP Program (Smart FTP is a good one) you simply put in the address, username and password and connect, then just like copying a file from one folder to another, you drag and drop the PDF into there.. you may have to place it in a folder on the webspace called public_html - just depends how the host has set the space up.. as for the link, it would be http://location.of-your.space/filename.pdf
  23. Whats the make/model? it should say on the sticker on the bottom
