Sheffield Becoming A 15 Minute City
Ghozer replied to tracy2009's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
that's talking about Oxford yes, and while there may be some 'crossover' in schemes, but it's not DIRECTLY because of the "15 minute city" plans, and that's also not why SCC placed them at Crookes/Heeley etc... there are multiple plans and ideas being acted upon to try and decrease pollution around cities in hotspots... the '15 minute city' ideas are one (of many) as a RESULT of government requirements for pollution yes, but the 15 min city, and CAZ stuff are separate schemes. both of which, people are whining about for (pretty much) no reason imho - sure there may be the odd outlyer case that is affected more than others -there always will be, with everything we do- but it's for the long-term greater good! -
Sheffield Becoming A 15 Minute City
Ghozer replied to tracy2009's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
That's different, that's not the "15 min city" thing, that's similar to the pollution reduction they are doing with all the road blocking and such around Crookes, and bottom of C-field Road etc, which are separate schemes from the 15 min city proposals... -

honestly, haven't seen any 'bad press' surrounding this, beyond this forum.... and it's not something that is posted/plastered/advertised all over, hadn't even heard of it until this thread originally started, and I looked more into it... -
No, it's supposed to be near the Tinsley Viaduct, by where the Cooling Towers were... not sure of the EXACT spot, but in that area at least.. Unless you mean the "heart of steel" - then yes, I believe that's the one! https://www.meadowhall.co.uk/news/heart-steel-meadowhall

Yeah, I noticed that while digging too, is a bit odd, but who knows the reasons... I also found another (none Sheffield) number linked to "Yorkshire Man of Steel" (was on 192.com) - 01709 377 271 but it seems to also be a pub in Rotherham...

Could just be a freelance contractor hired by Sky, in an area to help with demand, he'll be on the system as an engineer with contact details etc, but be "unregistered" for a company, as he's freelance... at least, that's my interpretation of it, with the bit of knowledge of the industry that I have...

Last update I can find was posted June 2021, saying its delayed due to Covid, however a smaller "Heart of Steel" has been revealed at M-Hall, that will live next to the Steel Man.... The Wikipedia page claims that more funding is needed, however the last update on there references 2015 so, who knows on that one... The website (www.thesteelman.co.uk) does indeed seem to be not working, the company (Yorkshire Icon LTD) still exists and records are still up to date, I managed to find a phone number for them, you could try and give them a call... 01142541220

Voter Id Required From The Local Elections In May - Eh?
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in General Discussions
that's fine, (and I have ID) - the question was more aimed at those who don't have ID, and are not aware of this, not everyone has internet access, not everyone knows how to use google, not everyone is able to, disabled people exist too... where's the TV campaigns to tell people about it? where's the letters? I don't have a problem with it, in the slightest - just the execution.... -
Unreal Engine 5 On Linux On A Chromebook?
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Don't even try on a Chromebook, they are not designed for that kind of workload, their graphical capabilities are lackluster at best, and are mainly designed for basic web browsing, emails, some word processing etc, maybe a bit of Youtube here and there and nothing more... Unreal Engine 5 is relatively heavy to run, you would be looking at a reasonable spec machine ideally.. while you 'could' technically run it on lower spec hardware, the performance will be terrible, even for 2D creation -
Voter Id Required From The Local Elections In May - Eh?
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in General Discussions
Stupid, not everyone has a photo ID, not everyone can drive (so doesn't have a drivers license) and not everyone has got a passport.... so what do those people do? i'm lucky that I recently renewed my provisional license, purely for ID purposes for something else, but if I hadn't done that how could I vote? I don't have a passport (never have, never been abroad, so never needed one) -
Will Sheffield Get This Deep Snow?
Ghozer replied to bassett one's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
not bizzare really, now and then a bit of sleet (rain) has been mixed in, so it snows a bit, then some gets melted and washed away, then it snows some more... it'll be hell for ice tomorrow evening and Saturday! -
Dan Walker Hit By Car On Sheffield Roundabout
Ghozer replied to Findlay's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
It's something I noticed right at the start, which was one reason I said he was positioned totally wrong and was at fault, and had no sympathy for him.... on top of the other things... -
Uh no, it's because of the river Sheaf... and we were called Escafeld before Sheffield too
-
I grew up thinking we were Midlands, mostly because if you look at England, look at where we are, we're pretty much in the middle! (approx ~140mi to Scottish border, approx ~170mi to Portsmouth, approx ~60mi to Liverpool, approx 70mi to Mablethorpe (or ~60mi to Grimsby) looks pretty 'middle' to me - but yea, had always thought and classed us as Midlands, as well as S.Yorkshire

Repairs By Scc Get Huge Delays
Ghozer replied to bassett one's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Then you phone your gas supplier, or national grid, who will then arrange an emergency engineer within 24 hours (if you have no heat or hot water) -

Connect Mic To Turtle Beach Headset (Xbox)
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Oh, in that case - a mic should have come with the headset, separate in the box, and will have a small (mono) plug on the end, this plugs into the LEFT ear cup, and then acts just as I said above.... if you don't have a mic, and purchased new - contact the retailer/manufacture, if you were given or purchased 2nd hand, you will just need a mic that will fit in the socket, and isn't too heavy... -
Connect Mic To Turtle Beach Headset (Xbox)
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
Assuming you gave the correct info, and it's a "Turtle beach, Recon 70" > https://uk.turtlebeach.com/pages/recon-70-headsets Then the mic is attached to the side, on a swivel, just plug in the 3.5mm (4 pin) plug in bottom of the controller, and it should just work, there's nothing more to it than that... -

Connect Mic To Turtle Beach Headset (Xbox)
Ghozer replied to XPertByExperien's topic in Computer & Tech Chat
I don't understand the question? the headset already has a mic (flip-up) just plug the headset into the bottom of the controller and it 'should' work there's not really anything else you can do... (beyond setting audio destinations in console settings) if you're wanting to use a separate mic, you may need a different headset that has a standard stereo plug, and an adaptor etc... -

Could be down to the fact it's streaming, your settings, display/monitor settings, any number of factors!! -
Isn't that basically exactly what I said anyway?

Is There Any Need For Another Starbucks?
Ghozer replied to Ashcroft's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
You forgot Tudor Square, and Western Bank, there's also 2 at Attercliffe (Attercliffe common, and Cricket Inn Road), also Cineworld, and 2 in Meadowhall, one at Drakehouse, one at Swallownest, 2 at Woodall!! -
It should just have a standard USB port on your computer no? the USB drive will come with the correct cable, just plug it into any USB port...
