  1. Is your 'annex' and house on the same circuit? (electrical) because they need to be for the powerline things to work (Unless they are the crappy wifi ones, which are just basically WiFi extenders and aren't very good usually)

  2. the first and only interaction I have had with Autism Plus, they told me they couldn't help unless I got funding for myself for a 'support worker' - without giving me any idea where/how to do that etc..... so I feel like I was just brushed off (as with everything/everyone else I tried in the past) so haven't bothered with them again!

This was about 10-12 years ago now tho!

Doing a backup is essential. All those data recovery software don't really work

They do work, but it depends on the drive and data, how much there is, the drive condition, and if you have already put new data over the top of where the old data was etc!

Good grief!  Am I being asked to present evidence for trial by the Sheffield Forum🤣

Not at all, I am interested from a historical context, at which point that version of the spelling may have disappeared/dropped off the view etc.. and out of sheer curiosity :)

TPM which as far as I'm concerned it a tracking device

🤣😅😂 the TPM device is just a small chip that generates cryptographic keys for use with things like bitlocker or encrypting files etc, and also checking windows is actually what it's supposed to be etc

Odd, I have it coming up as a fairly old model WiFi dongle (USB2 - 54Mbps) EDIT: Just noticed the model number in the link...that might be why ;)

So, whatever it is...If it's a router, it won't work until configured (good chance it's on a different subnet) If it's a WiFi dongle, it won't work until you connect it to your router.

EDIT: If you're using Windows, it should find the driver for you, if it's the dongle.

you're probably right, I didn't even notice that model number in my link.... mistakes happen, my bad :D

If it's an old WiFi dongle, it could simply be too old.... older won't work on more modern networks, they may not even pick them up at all...

    *Edit*
    If it's this... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000FO6QYU

Then it should just 'work' in current windows etc, however if your laptop is from the last decade, you (in theory) shouldn't need it as it should already have WiFi built in....

If it's for a desktop, it 'should' just work, but again, may just be faulty :)

I have managed to reactivate my Nokia 2310 and whilst its "1" button is locked, it's "9" button is not.

However, the older phone required you to dial 9 three times and then press call within a few seconds or it resets.

On the newer Nokia 110 one can accidentally dial 999 when its in "lock", but it remains there for ages (I got bored waiting after 5 minutes...) just waiting for "call" to be accidentally be pressed.

The 110 would also dial 112 even in lock mode, I then pressed "call" not expecting it to do anything (as we're in the UK not the USA) but it appeared to start ringing through so I disconnected the call ASAP. The old phone would not have done that as the "1"appeared to be locked.

One could speculate on just how much safer these "advances" make society than the older phones (ignoring the waste of time to the emergency operators from the accidental calls), but I surmise it's as close to zero as it's possible to be without actually being zero.

I can only repeat that in all the years I used my old Nokia 2310 it never accidentally dialled through to the emergency services.

Why wouldn't 112 do anything? that's the number that is 'standard' across the EU member countries (and us as we WERE part of it when that was introduced in 1995) it's also part of the GSM standard for over here!

     911 is for the US!

So why did my old Nokia 2310 never make an emergency call then ?

Have they change the "regulations" since that was manufactured ?

It was a different phone, different shape, different buttons etc.
    It probably just never happened.
I had it happen on an old phone of mine (about 10 or so years ago) but it hasn't happened on one since.

And no, regulations have not changed.... Its been that way since '87

But all phones used to be like that, i.e. all numbers were locked and one of the reasons, ironically, was to stop the phone accidentally dialling the emergency numbers !

    What phones?

My mum used to have one of the old-school Nokia 5110 "brick" phones, even that you could still call emergency number with the keypad locked... You can even call them without a SIM in most phones....

    Who's your ISP?

Currently Vodafone, as they had the best offer at the time, Gbit for £30/month (rose to £34 in April 23 tho) for 24 months...

Once that time's up, i'll see what other offers there are (mibbe a different provider on CityFiber) or see what Voda can offer, mibbe drop my speed to 500mb - but it's 1:1 so the download and upload are the same...

Measured (speedtest) I get around 700-850mbps at peak time of day (around this time, 6pm) and my peak in the evening has been around 970mbps - upload is usually around 930-950 ish
