Hahaha ... like mixing mi chutney with mi pickle, that made me chuckle! 😃

As already stated, it's controlled heather burning on Hallam Moor which is drifting on the prevailing breeze/wind into Sheffield. If I was clever enough I would put up a picture up on here from across the valley at Rod Moor, Stannington taken approx 11.00am which clearly shows such a fire ... but I'm not!!

Penistone Rd Shut Due To 'Police Incident' ?

You beat me to it HHR! Just add that the rank & file officers shouldn't be condemned ( try walking in their shoes)for the politics played at senior levels! -
Sorry but possibly an incorrect answer. Sect 75 of the Consumer Credit Act only used to apply to goods over £100 (it may have changed) & it seems unlikely that a car tyre inflator (if I understand the post correctly) would have cost this amount!

Bassett One, do not think you have to justify your thoughts/opinions on here for anyone! I for one appreciate your input to the forum, keep it coming!

I'd like to speak out for the sticks! What have they done to deserve some oik randomly interfering with their business, picking them up n slinging who knows where (& if having a fear of heights/excessive speed or whatever how will the stick feel!?) only then to be clamped tightly in a mutts jaw & slobbered over before undergoing more of the same! Respect sticks, all sticks!!

I had my driving lessons with Stan Wainwright. The route was wherever budgie seed (in sacks) needed dropping off that particular day/evening! 😄

Viners kept just on the right side of the legislation of the time by undertaking some finishing of the imported product which met the (some might say very weak) requirement for substantial change & hence could be marked with words including 'Sheffield'.

Not as early as the 60s but worked there from 1974-1982 (tho 1st year mainly at Sheffield Twist Drill/Dormer training centre). Some good times!

Good post Jim. I think geographical location also much more important these days. London, Manchester/Liverpool attractive to rich footballers for all the other 'attractions' outside of their footy commitments. Will be interesting to see if Newcastle will be able to attract now they have the money but perhaps, not the location!? Perhaps when we're all levelled-up, we (Sheffield) might come good again (tongue in cheek)!

Hi Cuttsie, was this by chance Ian Steel a toolmaker at Viners?

Do we have enough players for this to be called a 'mass walkout'!?

Very interesting Robbie, many thanks! -
I hope that someone can though clearly could not be another Mr Shaw. As an ex toolmaker in the cutlery sector (1970s) & seeing him at work in Kelham since, it rekindled my interest & wondered if he wanted an (aged) apprentice. Watched him a little more which made up my mind that to have such a range of skills was just about unique and would need a lifetime apprenticeship! Rest in peace.

Relatively brief but nevertheless excellent portrayal of a hard-working local business! -
Good article in today's Daily Mail sports section. RIP Peter Swan

The below initially posted in Feb 2020 re ownership etc. Whether the situation is the same now I dont know!? Re someone to run the business in his absence. This is what I don't understand & forgive me if I have missed something in the public arena on the same. A quick look at Companies House public information states DC is the only Director so who is running the business/ making decisions both 'locally' & from a running an EFL championship football team competence perspective on a day-to-day basis!?

I'm sorry but you are incorrect. Can you please point out where my statement mentions cycling interventions at all - no I don't think so!? You have chosen to interpret my words to suit your position rather than intepret them iterally. -
