  1. Just stumbled across this topic again, forgot to post, the results of my appeal, It was dropped, i.e. no fine, but with a warning if I got caught there again I would be fined! So my advise is to always appeal, (if you think you have a good reason to!)and if you get a ticket issued, tell the person who issued it ( if you get the chance) in a well mannered way why you think it's unfair and that you will be appealing, Maybe they make a note of this? Thank you planner 1 for all your well informed advice cheers:)
  2. With needing to go that way approx 17.30 keep updates coming please
  3. Has the filling loop flexible pipe been fitted, most people leave these on, but maybe yours is not fitted being new? just guessing try to find your instructions or Google for them or Google how to repressure your boiler, you should be able to see if this is problem?

  7. With you Habs, sad day, was big quo fan late 70s early 80s, kinda fell out with them, after "end of the road concert Milton Keynes," Sadly thought the became a bit of a sham in later years, you really had to go and see them live to get them, seen loads of bands, over years, nothing beat a quo concert, The above said I "recently saw them at Doncaster race course as part of a race meet entertainment,How wrong I had been not making the effort to see them in recent years!!! Fantastic show, and crowd, 6 to 60 year old fans maybe some older! Amazing, They just don't make bands like l this anymore, How many bands of today will be around next year let alone in fifty years time! Good luck to Rick and all the best to the rest of the band,Many thanks for all the good times, cheers!
  8. Lomas hall stannington,Worrall village hall, Hillsborough arena maybe more types of these local venues noticed your from middlewood
  9. Planner 1, as a experience motorist I have admit by knowledge of the highway code is nowhere near your level, although I think it is above average, but was sadly lacking in this case, It was a urban Clearway even when shown, sadly I though that even applied to the road only my mistake. However my point is sadly on the advice of a warden "1" Maybe a year ago who should know that's why I asked him if I could unload there, , I have been ticketed by warden "2" On wardens "2" advice, unless I had checked up I could have even ticketed by warden "3" unless I cleverly check up myself! Warden 2 advised me to park on double yellow (which is ok! I was not aware!) But this position was within 10 yards of a junction, would have clearly obstructed of motorists, been a danger to pedestrians blocking there view on a dropped kurb area to aid disabled crossing (the only reason I checked is because I wouldn't have dreamed of parking there and could believe I could!) I am aware with a wardens permission you can unload a" anywhere" make sure you have their number etc So sadly I was given bad advice by people who should know and who I specifically asked as unsure, HELP! My next point is although clearly now I was parked in a wrong area , it could not be deemed as obstructive or dangerous ,given the location, if it had been in any way so I would have accepted the ticket gracefully! Clearly the warden could have in this case could have approached me and informed me using common sense and humanity, I accept they have a difficult job to do, but clearly I am not the only one who is sadly lacking information ( but if it was my job ....), So more training for wardens I think, and maybe better advertised info for us commoners! I have much respect for wardens and the difficult job they do, sadly after meeting this individual due to his manner , this much is much less, not very big of me I know! To quote a passer by " get a proper job" sadly mate you are wrong he's got a proper job, " you bleep bleep bleep" sadly mate in the case of this individual , and manner in which he conducted himself you maybe right?? You are a" public servant" good manners and politeness cost nothing, take a lesson from the bloke you gave the ticket to! Cheers! Planner1 please keep giving you knowledgeable advise to all much appreciated
  10. I do hope you right about the "fair" I was recently given a ticket which I am appealing, I was "loading " parked on. A pavement down Hillsborough on a Sunday, within 30 seconds I was issued a ticket! I think the warden was fully aware I was there , was within 10 yards of car! How ever I was shown a very small sign saying I could not park there (around 12 ft up a lamppost) I accept they have a difficult job, but I found this" person" most unreasonable, I did ask him where I could load , his advice seemed far more illegal, and dangerous! In which I checked on later and found out , having took his advice, he would have clearly been able to ticket me again!(sadly I had been told previously some months before by one of his colleagues I could load where I was sadly I should have kept his number /details) The signs may be new? The business owner who has been there 3 years was completely unaware of them,,Again I accept a difficult job and a job that needs to be done, but a job that should be done with good manners humidity, and respect, I do hope I made the wardens day, in the way I responded to him, think he did kind of feel a bit sneaky and guilty, Maybe next time he will give a bit of goodwill, Maybe next time, I might choose to deal with him in the manner of several passers by ! Sadly on this occasion I think there response to his manner and respectfully how he went about his job was far more fitting! Will let you know how my appeal goes! On my first parking ticket in 32 years, please note the pavement I parked on was 3 cars wide, i.e. I don't want anyone to think I was posing a danger to pedestrians or blocking there way, the reason I parked there is because it didn't block pedestrians, motorists, trams, buses etc , i.e. it was a" reasonable "place to park not dangerous, but clearly now against the law, I was not aware of the poorly placed signs, ---------- Post added 21-08-2016 at 11:01 ---------- I do hope you right about the "fair" I was recently given a ticket which I am appealing, I was "loading " parked on. 12. Just remember I am sure chick once told me a story about being in the war, " I spent most of my time me digging" he said "Digging ??????????" I replied " Yes digging a hole to flipping hide in!!!! He said Note to readers flipping has replaced another word beginning with F! Happy days!
  13. That's him ! As a 19 year old I took over from him when he finished work thro ill health I think, yes he was a chracter indeed,!! I am now 52!, it is so sad what has happened to the engineering in Sheffield, though a few firms are still hanging in there, soon these skills will be lost, . Sadly few people seem care .
  14. I think a bloke called chicko worked a planer there, he later worked at lodestar, I remember the new brick work in the old brickwork on one of the outside walls where a planer table shot off its slides and went thro the wall,!! I ended up working planer/millers at lodestar,
  15. Yes eitb was on Petre st the large building sadly gone, when we stopped caring about industry and training young people doing proper apprenticeships,( now we just training. Them "all" in law!), lodestar on Johnson st , the small side building is still there as a power coating firm now, the large side was pulled down to make way for the derick Dooley ring rd, somebody should make up a list of old ,"forgotten" Engineering firms , before they are wiped from memories.
