  1. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/business/pubs-to-trial-professional-lanes-2013122082253 "Pub owner Tom Logan said: “While I’m giving samples of our real ale to some bell end who’s just going to order a half of Fosters, I could be servicing our core clientele of red men with poor home lives."
  2. Ignore my suggestions, if this is the mural: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.3788439,-1.4761086,3a,75y,55.31h,83.49t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sfGHJ7V873AwtfXKhtKhOKQ!2e0!6m1!1e1 then it's definitely neither of them, but hopefully the pic above may assist identification for you. ---------- Post added 18-12-2014 at 09:46 ---------- It's pawski http://iconosquare.com/tag/pawski
  3. Kid Acne, if the one I'm thinking of is the one you're after : ) Or maybe Coloquix
  4. If you don't mind a bit of elbow grease then you can get amazing results yourself in a weekend with a bit of patience and aforementioned products. Clay bar, polishing compounds (easy enough by hand but better by machine polisher) and waxes for all budgets can easily be bought on the net. Techniques and advice is available by the bucket load on YouTube and the like. http://www.detailingworld.com/forum/ The forum above is a goldmine of information. Have fun : )
  5. Check out these guys: http://www.cleandetail.co.uk/ No affiliation, just highly recommended. They offer a huge range of options. £300 they charge for Gen-3 I think which is definitely cheaper than your dealership and I guarantee they will do a much better job of prep and application than any dealer ever will. Whatever you do, if you are going to get something done external to the dealers, goes without saying to get your car to them for protection as soon as you can after leaving the dealership with it to limit damage to your paintwork and any correction they may need to do before glass-coating. I'd also be very surprised if the paint work on your new car is in pristine condition straight from a dealer due to them potentially washing/waxing/shining it badly ready for you to pick up so they may need to correct anything screwed up by them. Just something to bear in mind. ---------- Post added 24-06-2014 at 11:32 ---------- Forgot to comment on any good question. The various glass-coat options are great if applied by someone who knows what they are doing. Check out some of the detailing forums for more info, there's a wealth of knowledge out there. A good prep and application of a high grade wax, in my opinion, is just as good if not better cosmetically and cost wise and is something you can maintain yourself longer term if you are that way inclined. There's a whole world of fun, gadgets and potions awaiting you out there... http://www.theultimatefinish.co.uk/detailing.aspx I love keeping my car clean and tip top. There's something therapeutic about an afternoon spent waxing your penis extension.
  6. "All I want is get out of my front door and feel home I guess." My top pick then for you would be Heeley/Meersbrook. I'm biased as I live there but I live there for a very good reason and that reason is your desire above. That's exactly what I feel every single day on leaving and getting home. Reasons why? Meersbrook and Graves Park are on your doorstep. Both amazing spaces to have walking distance away. Both areas kind of run into one another, are very leafy and green with lots of open spaces and are just off Chesterfield Road, a major bus route allowing easy access into and out of town. If you're heading south down the country you're in an almost straight line heading out towards Chesterfield to drop you well south on the M1 so great for commuting/travel in that respect and getting North on the M1 isn't that difficult either. Opposite direction, keep going straight past the train station and follow the M1 signs. Alternative/hippy-ish laid back vibe sort of areas, as mentioned it has a great mix of lifestyles. Minimal crime. Very friendly local community. Things going off all the time if you want them. Heeley festival this weekend just gone is just one such example, a great little community event. Sharrow festival also on the same day just down the road. Heeley institute put on music gigs on a regular basis, acoustic/folk and other styles. The White Lion in Heeley is a very busy live music venue with something on most evenings to cater for all tastes. You have Woodseats just up the hill with more pubs, a good butchers (Batty's) an amazing game and fish dealer (Baldock's), 2 brilliant chippies and a whole bunch of other great shops. Virgin gym just off Chesterfield Road. Millhouses nearby has a PureGym. Meadowhead is a little further up from Woodseats with one of the greatest wine/beer/spirit merchants (Mitchells) in the city, if not Yorkshire. Walking distance to Abbeydale and London Road with great restaurants, an amazing bakery (Forge Bakehouse) http://www.forgebakehouse.co.uk, butchers, antique shops and a whole raft of eclectic shops. Brilliant pubs nearby including The Sheaf View, The Broadfield, The White Lion, The Union, Byron House. Des Amis on Chesterfield Road https://www.facebook.com/DesAmisCafe, brilliant French/Turkish restaurant/cafe and tonnes of other takeaways and restaurants nearby, especially London Road as mentioned. Supermarkets and shopping wise, LIDL and a large Morrisons on Chesterfield Road, Sainsbury's and Tesco not very far away in Millhouses, bit further away at the bottom of London Road there is a Waitrose and there is Asda on Queens Road. Tesco express in Woodseats and one just across the valley near the Broadfield/Nether Edge. Coop/garage on Chesterfield Road and numerous corner-shops and the like. Homebase, Heeley retail park with a 24 hour Boots/chemist. Sharrow/Eccy Road/Greystones are a short taxi ride or walk away, depending on your fitness levels and the weather. Town itself is walkable in 20 minutes. Come check the area out, especially the pubs (The Sheaf View and The Broadfield being particular favourites which will give you a good idea of the cross section of people that make up these great areas), I promise you won't be disappointed : ) I will certainly ask around and keep an eye out for rents in your price range and let you know if I see anything. And finally welcome to the city, it's a beautiful place to live as you are going to find and full of friends you just haven't met yet. Pay no heed to the miserable naysayers!
  7. From what I just read of your past posts in this thread on what you were looking for in terms of people, rent limits and so on I would highly recommend you concentrate your search in the Heeley/Meersbrook/Woodseats/NetherEdge areas for what you are looking for. Great mix of laid back people, lifestyles and quite a range of housing and lets available in terms of costs if you do some research. You can find highly expensive properties backing on or joined to roads with more modest and cheap housing all over. It's a bit of a mash-up and one of the reasons I love this swathe of areas so much. Rough, smooth, rich, poor all muddling together. Also, great facilities in and around those areas, parks, amazing pubs, London Roads eclectic mix of eateries a short walk away.
  8. In spite of the mickey taking above, I have to speak in defence of paying a decent amount of money for certain audio cables (to a low-medium price point where IMHO diminishing returns is rapidly reached and that over it you are just throwing money away to convince yourself), specifically interconnects and speaker cable. These can and do make a massive difference to sound quality from a decent separates system.
  9. http://www.shunyata.com/index.php/accessories-footer/125-darkfield-v2 Hilarious. $295 for 12 bits of foam. Or you could crack the kitty litter out. http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?fcabl&1215950921&openflup&21&4#21
  10. Unfortunately not Geared, some people really are that gullible and some unscrupulous but hilarious sod has cornered a lucrative niche of the high-end audio market for people with more money than sense. If you want a proper laugh, do a Google on the subject and go read a few of the audiophile forums with proponents of these things convincing one another that they've spent their hard earned well. It's pretty hilarious : ) Speaker spikes however, like carosio points out, are a very worthy investment for floorstanders especially if you've got them in a carpeted room. They tighten up the bass and bottom end no end and make a serious difference noticeable to even the most unobservant possessed of painted on ears, though obviously the amount of boom and effect they'll inhibit depends somewhat on the substrate the carpet is on, how far from the walls they are, are they in a corner etc.
  11. Don't forget your cable elevators! http://www.oregondv.com/CableElevators.htm "I must say I am floored at the increase in clarity and leading edge transients with the stands in place. Like wow. I would not have believed it." A fool and his money...
  12. Nilfisk are massively favoured by a *lot* of car detailers. These are guys who are using them most all day every day. If that isn't an endorsement for their general build quality and longevity then I'm not sure what is. A quick Google will show you this. Milquetoast1's point about storing and looking after any pressure washer is hugely important. I keep mine indoors all year round. Still going strong after 4 years of heavy use and as good as the day I bought it. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
