  1. crafty trick that happened to me to a good few years back. they have to pick up themselves dust of and keep going,i had to do it. no use wallowing in sympathy, sounds like im being hard but it is good advice in my book
  2. rumor has it that their are two sections of a acolyte in the margins of peg 8 in a pind somewhere in Loxley, worth a bob or two,you didnt here that from me by the way ;-) you have heard correct about the acolyte carp, stonking pole if you lik tench but dont like busted tackle from carp, have you tried lanta at aston? i had some stuning tench out of there up to 4lbs over the weekend dars35,got battered by carp as well but only up to 5lb so fishing light will not see you smashed by a minster. infact owner alex always tells me to chuck anything over 5 into the lake behind (called split)
  3. he is right helpful, are you buying an acolyte dars35? seriously nice peace of kit
  4. yes it good ti see them back. adrian at bankside tackle is also good for bait on a sunday mornimg,he closes at 12. very handy when fishing over at aston or kiveton ---------- Post added 04-03-2014 at 20:42 ---------- or killamarsh

  7. i would walk away angel22 the deeler is asking to much for a 13 year old car with a turbo in my book i recently bought a 2011 insignia from a private seller that was £2000k cheaper than the exact same spec and milage car from a deeler
  8. the ones in loxley are very fit and healthy like the carp and are super scrappers,i think it is probably to di with the pond being streem fed still, you cant beat a good old tusle with a river barble when they dig in and hug the bottom against the flow, ive had some epic battles on the trent with fish of nearly 20lbs
  9. i went in the new tackle twofish today, its exactly the same as it was when it was the old shop, same stock and everthing just different blokes they didn't have any pellets by the way
  10. its not bad repo man buts not a day ticket fishery, has been restocked with carp up to 20lb and good head of roach on the "silver side"of the lake the club own a stretch of the don that is ace for flyfishing for trout/greyling and it has some decent chub
  11. had a great "first day" at ladybower today,i have highlighted "firstday" because it is not strictly true as the season ticket holders have been alowed to fish FOR THE PAST WEEK,not realy fare is it and this is the first time ithas ever been alowed, who makes up these bias rules? anyway i had a good catch of 20 and brought home 4 fish just over 2lb which i will gut and freez the fillets for meals over the next week or two, great sport
  12. this is a brillant and soothing topic peakexpat, rother valley and monsal are terific places to get away from it all I have spend some nice time in them both i have several places that i like to get away to mainly they are qieit river banks where all that you can here is the trout and greyling snapping at flys on thewaters surface and a dipper calling my all time favourite tranquil place though is the river ebro in spain which im am fortunate enough to visit twice a year
  13. he wil be older than he was then,as it is several years ago dave
  14. are you sure you are not dave, dave? you sound just like him yes,it is stuffed with tench and the new island is nice, but as you say the rubbish is a problem and I suppose it always will be while ever the pond is surrounded by a dirty council estate
  15. no Im am not from hackenthorpe dave but several years ago I caught the 28lb poke from frechville pond and the star came to take my photo holding the fish, everyone was coming at me fir my autograph and I remember someone called dave asking me to sign his rod licence
  16. i used to go with some if my fishing mates, dale, cashmore and some others from totley and i know all those that you said not seen newton lads for yonks, but kitey sells cars in dronfield and wraggy has unfortunately just lost a leg,we probably know each other blue9iron
  17. hi dave,i know a dave from hackenthorpe who is a fisherman,is it you? i am not cliff by the way, that is a old mans name
  18. you are right in my book shadrack51,i hate having to poach these ponds always looking over my shoulder because there is no day ticket fishing. what is your name by the way?
  19. i have a shower to keep me clean,in the winter ikeep my livebaits in the bath
  20. the one below weeded up yearsand years ago and is now a piece of wasteland but the trees give away the boundries of the old bankside,i remember catching my first ever tench their with my uncle back in the early seventies
  21. you are right charliewag i know people who have used them,i tie my own flies so have no need to pay retailers prices and it is a great pastime and enjoyable and rewarding to catch a trout in your own fly dont forget first day at ladybower this weekend, all fish will be in the edge. i will be there just hope wind is favourable
  22. sounds good,i have laods of pics of speci fish
  23. this has happened to me several times trebles catch hold of alsorts if you let them drop too deep. my pb skeleton is 15inches,i also once hooked a high voltage cable on the trent arm that was ilegaly supling a boat with power from a street lamp, thats true that
  24. as far as I know all sheffield venues are mixed, the sport is attracting more and more women and some are catching quite well, but arent as good at it as men are kjs's forgotten west end lake is mainly fished by elderly women these days, but is mainly just a plaice to meet and chat as the stock is verylow. Try the chopped worm at Clearwater, its lethal also luncheon meat is a winner when the balif isn't around, mag and wag in margins for some monster summer carps
