  1. We need to incorporate some advanced Turing Test into our communicating devices: that uncloake the AI and alerts us that it's a "bot". So it goes.
  2. There is 170 pages of Uhderstanding The Universe. Shall we go again?
  3. Hackey lad AS you can see. I was on that thread. Here we go again. The end result is that the Earth is not flat. But, as we sleep walk into a " Post Truth" society. I think it will become increasingly difficult to deconstruct such nonsense as " The Earth Is Flat". I have a small sailing boat ,Anita A .Contessa 26. I have often sailed over the horizon ,and sailed almost to the geographical North Pole. The Earth is not flat. The Earth's magnetic field has an horizontal and vertical component that change the closer you get to the geographical pole. The steering compass gets increasing unreliable-because the Earth is ROUND. So it goes.
  4. Hackey Lad You funny terrible ,terrible man.
  5. Al Bundy. By all means. It is a bit lengthy. I did -for a longtime - think that humanity was made up of distinct-scientifically provable-biological races. Apparently that is not the case.
  6. Considering the sensitivity of this topic,I've thought very hard before posting this link. We need to think very hard about what is understood as "Race". https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8452910/
  7. Padders. Thank you for that very interesting contribution. I've always found written English and grammar puzzling. However, at my Secondary Modern school the teachers hammered into our tiny minds, the rudiments of :spelling, grammar ,sentence and paragraph construction Subject.verb,compliment. That is the way it goes.
  8. The upshot- by whoever is responsible-,will be a complete"bastardising" of written English.
  9. Mr M. I came across the idea whilst reading the Festival of Debate magazine. The lecture being delivered by the Festival is called ,"Verbs Not Nouns: Scaffolding Alternative Future. Allegedly, there are some indigenous languages which are 80% verb based. It appears to me to be an attempt to politically undermine the place in the world held by written English. So it goes.
  10. What would a Verb based only language :sound .read like ? No Nouns allowed.
  11. There is light in the darkness. There are lights in the sky. The Martians are coming. They are coming from Mars. Ba Boom.
  12. A link for anyone interested. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/safety/myocarditis.htmlI I've had 4 of the bu.....s-but not having anymore. My heart is ok. I have occasional muscle and joint soreness-but put this down to old age (73). Note : One may disagree with the final paragraph of the article.
  13. Cuttsie. Glad to hear that the radiotherapy is going fine. My partner had anal cancer. The therapy caused some soreness around the groin area. Don't worry if you get some soreness. It will heal. May your guardian angel watch over you.
  14. Cuttsie, When you get to ring that bell ,ring it hard and ring it long.

  18. Ads36, I do not mean to offend you.My apology to you. I do think that the 15 Minute City looks attractive on The World Economic Forum Web page. But I have this sinking feeling the 15 Minutet City will degenerate into a Le Corbusier dystopian Blade Runner nightmare. HeHasRisen. There's nowt wrong with a holiday' So long as you haven't exceeded your motoring social credits. "We are off,we are off. We are off in a motorcar . 60 coppers are after us and we don't know where we are". A little song we sang as kids in the car and drove mum and dad insane. OH ,the good old days of happy motoring and the sprawling Metropolis.
  19. Melthebell, I'm a pensioner and my personal transport is a folding bike. I do not own a car anymore-I scrapped it. I damn well miss it. When I did drive ,I loved to jump in my car and drive to: Scotland, Wales and the Lake District and go camping and climbing in the mountains.-a motor vehicle can be a very liberating force in ones life. Sheffield is not an easy riding area. Most days I ascend the "Col-de-Myrtle Road" . But , the virtual signaling anti-car ,15 Minute City numpties get right on my pip.
  20. HeHasRisen. I'm staying and exercise my democratic right not to vote for the headbangers peddling 15 minute ideology. So ,on yer bike matey.
  21. Melthebell, Aye, praying to God is the only hope we have for protection against the insane on Sheffield City Council.
  22. The 15 minute city . Even if you don't want it you are going to get it. https://ifapray.org/blog/15-minute-cities-the-devil-in-the-details/ Sheffield is on its way there.
  23. A description of the "15 Minute City". https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/03/15-minute-city-stickiness/ Note: World Economic Forum. And just who are they? I don't quite see the the relationship between ,"Climate lock down" and the "15 Minute City". Can someone briefly describe the connection? (Thank you in advance).
