  1. I worked with this lass for a few years and there wasn't a single day where she wore a hijab. Then the first day back at work after getting married she's wearing a hijab. It's pretty easy to read between the lines on this one. You could also tell by her body language that something was off about the situation. It's hardly "far-fetched" given it's well known that a lot of the men make the women cover up.
  2. I think that happens more than people realise too. I once worked with a Muslim lass who never covered her hair and wore western style dress. She had a couple of weeks off work to get married, and when she came back to the office she was wearing a hijab and more loose fitting clothes. It was pretty obvious that her husband had made her do it.
  3. I went in person because I often nip to Sainsbury's or Boots for a sandwich anyway and the bank is less than 50 yards from both. It was no bother at all.
  4. I could buy all my food and clothes online, but I still want supermarkets and clothes shops to exist. The last time I tried phoning my bank I was on hold for 40 minutes, so just went on my dinner break instead and got it sorted in five minutes. Obviously it makes sense to close some branches, especially if there are multiple in the same city centre, but closing them all would be drastic.
  5. Anyone over the age of 16 who watches Harry Potter should be locked up in my opinion.
  6. Some crafty wording there from DWP. Of course it will be at a record high considering the population keeps going up. The number of people on payrolls as a percentage of the working age population would likely tell you a different story. A spokesperson for the DWP said: "Our plan for the economy is working. Inflation [the rate at which prices rise] is down to 3.4%, employment is up, the number of people on payrolls is at a record high, and inactivity is falling.
  7. It's almost like it has a track record of failure over decades or something...
  8. I'd say the last few years of the 90s when I was aged 10 to 13. I was out of the house more than I was in, whether that was on my bike, playing football or washing cars. I loved the freedom of it while having no responsibilities. Plus people seemed happier in the 90s too.
  9. Yet more nanny state nonsense which doesn't do anything to solve the problem at hand. Meanwhile people still see these adverts anyway on TV and YouTube etc.
  10. I'm right handed but my fork is always in my left hand when eating a proper meal. Using a fork with your right hand seems more of an American thing. The only exception would be when I'm not using a knife at the same time, such as for eating pasta or cheesecake etc. Then I'd consider using my right hand.
  11. Apparently the new style fences separating gardens is what's killing hedgehogs off. They can't get between gardens, so have to go around the front onto the road and get run over.
  12. Because it should never have gone to court in the first place. It's a slippery slope when you start dragging soliders before the courts.
  13. It's disgusting that you can serve your country and it doesn't even protect you from crap like this.
  14. No we haven't. Certainly not on the scale that we have been since 1997. There's probably been more of it in the last 25 years than between 1066 and 1997.
  15. It's almost like importing different idologies from around the world en masse for 14 years against the wishes of the British public wasn't such a good idea after all...
  16. That's a bit of a ridiculous suggestion. Most of south and west Sheffield is within half a mile of a river. Surely it depends on the terrain more than anything. My house is about 300 yards from the River Sheaf but it's on a fairly steep hill, so there's no chance of it flooding.
  17. A man who fraternises with every enemy this country has, just like Corbyn.
  18. Sounds great. I'd actually be able to get a seat on the train to Manchester.
  19. Yes it does. Women are being over-represented in crime statistics when they had nothing to do with the offence.
  20. I thought we deserved a point given our second half performance. Wolves didn't create a clear cut chance all game. That said, some of our decision making at times is embarrassing. We're so naive and don't have much footballing IQ.
  21. Ministers tell civil servants what to do. The average MP doesn't have any authority over the Civil Service.
  22. When he was brought in it was obviously to try and keep us up, but with an eye on next season should we go down. Wilder is definitely a better option at Championship level than Heckingbottom. Look at the promotion season under Hecky. We were so negative at times and would often scrape past teams 1-0, while having two of the best players in the league and then nearly threw it away at one point.
  23. You could bring the best managers in the world in and it would have made no difference. The squad just isn't good enough to avoid relegation. It's all about planning for next season now. If not, then what are you saying? Sack Wilder now and get someone else in until the end of the season?
  24. I wasn't keen on him returning but I don't think you can judge him on this season. The damage was already done and he's had one transfer window so far. The real test will be in the summer when we've got loads of players out of contract and the squad will need rebuilding. I'll be judging him a couple of months into next season.
