  1. Hi Sandra, Did you live in Queen Mary Road, in between Wulfric Road and Scotia Close? If you did, we may have been friends as children. I lived in Fitzhubert Road, facing Scotia Close. This would have been mid-50s to mid 60s. Either way, best wishes.
  2. Tomorrow is the most important day in the history of this country since D Day. We are voting Leave.
  3. Every country should have its own borders and be in control of its own house. The ever increasing immigration in Europe will unsettle things in a few short years. I never thought being white, Yorkshire born, English would mean I am politically incorrect in my own country. We are building now on farmland. Lots of farmland. The increasing population means we will be unable to feed ourselves. I have one message for my little grandchildren ... if things go on like this emigrate as soon you can. If the vote is to remain, I will never vote in a House of Commons election again, We will be governed from Brussels. My father, God rest him, was Sheffield born and bred, he said the English Channel was worth £1million a teaspoonful. We voted years ago for a Common Market .... not a government.
  4. Hi Snowball72, Thanks so much for a super day yesterday. A wonderful reunion. You worked so hard to bring it all about. Here's to the next one! All the best to all the boys, and Les Girls - Linda (Pearce), Susan (Mellor), Jean (Bingham), Judith (Milner), Christine (Hoyland) and yourself. I will be in touch soon Averil, love to you and Roger (can he have a sit down now?) - Muriel
  5. If we stay in, we are governed from Europe. Might as well knock the Houses of Parliament down and build a block of flats!! Also, Mr Cameron and his new deal... if we vote to stay in, this may be ignored ... we voted to stay in, we can toe the Brussels line like everyone else.
  6. I lived on Fitzhubert Road in the 1950s, looking out onto Scotia Close. Wulfric Road was the top road to the right and Carey Road was the road to the left. I remember the chip shop, post office and St Swithens church where our mums would stand and watch the weddings on a saturday afternoon.
  7. Hi Snowball, it was a joy to meet up again after all these years, what a super time, I was really surprised at what I remembered, info I had not thought about for many years. Keith and I were so pleased to meet you and Roger ...here's to the next time. Wonder if we could get a few more for a get together in a few months. Will be in touch, Muriel and Keith
  8. Is there another Gregg site, interesting, I only know this one. I remember Mrs Wostenholme who took RSA stream for English, and also a pupil called Paula, wnose mother was a teacher for a time, Mrs Savage.
  9. Hi Snowball and Sweetman, I am sure a pupil was surnamed Shirt, during our time at Gregg School. Sylvia Watson lived near us at this time, she taught maths ... I think Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks Snowball, .... gosh, using all these 'code names' ... like contacting MI5!! Best wishes to anyone who remembers me -- Muriel
  10. Hi Snowball72, I did not know about Susan Harrison, I remember her as her mother and father would sometimes give me a lift to school if they saw me at the bus stop. I wish you and all our classmates all the best for 2015
  11. hello Snowball72, sorry for the delay in replying, April and I were very good friends all through our time at Gregg, however we have completely lost touch. I have found it fascinating, reading about our schooldays. Best wishes for 2015
  12. Deep Pits joined the newly opened Arbourthorne Methodist church on Edenhall Road in the late 1950s. Harry Ironside was the senior layman who ran Deep Pits. He was what the methodists call a local preacher. His son Ralph married Pat Roome at Arbourthorne Methodist church. Do you remember David Hill, married Joan Clay? The youth group was joined with Prince of Wales Road methodist church youth club as the churches shared a minister and it was very successful.
  13. I lived on the Manor Estate in the 1950s/60s until I left to work in Leeds in 1964. Our house was on Fitzhubert Road, directly behind the church and looked out on to Scotia Close.I remember the fish shop, the post office.
  14. Did anyone go to the joint Arbourthorne Methodist and Prince of Wales Road Methodist churches youth club. Known as the YPFG during the 1950s and early 60s? The minister was Rev George Beck and then Rev Jack Lucas. I remember the Roome family and the Ironside family.
  15. Hello, I am Muriel, so good to read all these names, a real blast from the past. Best wishes to all.
