Playing a selection of fine tunes from Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Jimi Hendrix to Stevie Ray Vaughan and Gary Moore amongst many others, a belter of a rock night is anticipated! Baz Groom - Photographer and Reviewer for Rock of The North... "What band in their right mind would perform the Allman Bros "Whippin Post" on a Friday night in the Boot & Shoe? More importantly, get away with it? Well that band would be the Gav Coulson Group. The same song even got em' up dancing (until they realised the song is a tad over 3 minutes!) And along with tracks from Gary Moore, Hendrix, Glenn Hughes, Walter Trout and a blistering take on Joe Bonamassa's version of Just Got Paid, the group went down a storm. Most know of Gavin's prowess on the guitar, but this is no 'one man band'. Four cracking musicians who know their stuff. Keyboards from Chris Pilkington ex Storm Bringer & Empress really give the band a rich sound. Ably assisted by a powerhouse rhythm section, this is rock blues at it's best!! Influences now come from the tastes of all members of the band and they have developed a heavier style that retains melodic quality and a more modern sound than their early work.
