Sheffield Tramlines 2014 Price Rise and Acts
ExiledinLeed replied to Vaati's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
It cracks me up. I brought a load of mates down from Leeds to last years, they could not believe the value for money they were getting and thought it was fantastic. It's far, far cheaper than the Bingley Festival up here and you get the added bonus of all the city centre amenities. Even at increased prices this is an absolute steal Sheffield and I can't believe people complain! Unreal! -
Is it me or is Sheffield getting left behind?

As someone who works in the sector and lives in one of the aforementioned cities, I'll chuck my two pennies worth in. Sheffield Council are dinosaurs. That's the unfortunate perception in the rest of the North. They are far to enmeshed in party politics to actually look at the bigger picture. When the cuts came, Sheffield's "top brass" spent most of their time pontificating about Thatcher et al. Leeds went out of their way to engage with business with the aim to attract new investment. There's no forward thinking - why haven't SCC made serious steps to roll out the Supertram to other parts of the city? The traffic is terrible. This isn't a Tory bashing Labour (again its NOT about party politics Sheffield), Leeds Council aren't universally Tory. This is about recognising a Council that aren't fit for purpose. -
Possibly Romanian "poor collecting"

They 'pick-pocketed' it from my back pocket. In all seriousness, the sooner the political establishment acknowledge that inevitably unencumbered EU freedom of movement rule leads to both some fantastic, hardworking people but also a minority of less desirable chancers, and attempts to control this in a real and tangible way, the sooner the political swing towards UKIP (of whom I'm no fan) will disappear without a trace. -

Will be part of a begging gang mate. It's the same mob who've seized control of all the Big issue sales patches. -
Marc B - have a look at the Spareroom website. Google 'Spareroom'. You can rent a room in a shared house for a short period of time, its much cheaper than renting your own space and will mean you can get to meet some new housemates and make friends quicker. I did it when I relocated to L**ds. I'd look at the areas near Ecclesall Road - Greystones, Hunters Bar etc. There will be plenty of young professionals sharing around there and you'll be able to get a room with bills included for £300 to £400 per month. It gives you an opportunity to meet the people before you commit and see the area as well. It's also more flexible in terms of leaving (i.e. 6 months shouldn't be a problem).

I think the Euro elections will be a single issue vote and UKIP will sail in. I'm politically liberal and proud of our multicultural society, but that doesn't mean I can't vehemently object to unfettered EU immigration. It's madness people can come here and claim benefits, we need to get the best, most talented, most productive of other societies. Page Hall is a dump and it's desperately sad for the people stuck there.
