Pretty sure I have the same camera, think it was branded something else though, great peace of mind knowing you have it and I wouldn't be without it now. Didn't tell my insurance about it as I don't want to ensure it is with me every hour of every day should they want to see any recordings, it's my hidden trump card if ever needed.

Good point about not telling the insurance and i totally agree. Its great to have just in case but you wouldnt want to have to use it all the time.

If you havent watched any of the footage yet though, igve it a go. The quality is very good indeed.

That is what you think? Personally I am not too bothered with the trains but there will be many out there stuck because they don't have the money and the alternative bus options are horrible and/or non existent.

Disabled should really. Most of them get extra money to help with travel so really they should pay full.

Pensioners though, well thats a bit harsh. They have paid their dues and deserve some help later on in life.

That is a massive jump up in price though.

 

I dont think the quality needs to be HD. For insurance purposes i think they only need to get the gist of an accident.

The jump in price is not as steep when you see the difference in quality. Im a tight northerner, i dont spend anything i dont need to but i have to say its very good value for money. This unit also has GPS for location and speed details at time of impact and it also deals with changes in light waaaaaaaaaaay better than the cheaper one.

Your probably spot on about the insurance thing but the way i see it is the more detail the better.

But i paid 22 quid for it. Its ok but the quality isnt there. I needed the footage for something but when i looked at it the detail was poor, you couldnt really see the number plate and it was jerky.

Its fine for a rear facing camera but for a front one its not up to scratch. I still keep it as a spare though

Are you saying its only ethnics who do it? If so you are soooooooooo wrong. The reason you see it a lot on Abbydale road is because its got a very high immigrant count in the area. Almost every face is a brown one. Go to mainly white areas and youll see similar things but it will be just the whities doing it. It not an ethnic thing, its not a white thing, its a moron thing.

yeah I've set it to MPH. The software doesn't do anything, nothing to load or click on. I think it's because on Win8, because in one of the files you have to pick XP/Vista or 7.

 

I notice on mine too, that it doesn't keep the time. I've changed the time a few times, but it just defaults to a random time.

The time is controlled by GPS.

To turn off the GPS you need to set it to "closed" but its better to use the + hour and - hours funtion and leave the GPS on.

Make sure the time setting is set to 0 or +1, im not sure which. By default mine was set to + 8 hours so when ever i set the time it was always 8 hours ahead. When i changed it to 0 then set the time it worked perfectly. Its in the settings menu. If you have any trouble finding it and setting it im free all of today so i can nip round and set it up for you.

As for the Windows 8 problem. The only way around this i know if is to run it in compatibility mode for win xp or win 7. I run win 7 so its not a problem ive personally come across but after a bit of diggin around found a few people who got it to work on win 8 machines.

Ive got one and its poor. It records in Mjpeg and the quality is bad so its relegated to status of spare in case my proper camera goes tits up.

I think that for sensitive information, such as problems you can always use the 'Dear Forum' facility.

Would that be where you go through admin and they screen your posts before they post them for you?

Not so. I found out about this place via a mechanic i used to use for my (please dont hate me) Renault

He has a user id for posting just normal stuff and he also has a business type account where he helps people with more mechanical type stuff and where he has his business on the foot of every post.

He told me it was something he had to ask the admin permission to do and in fact ive been considering approaching admin and asking for a separate account myself where i can promote my new business by giving advice and building up a good rep on here that will hopefully transfer to a bit of extra income for the business.

What other reason could there possibly be?

I have 3 accounts on another forum.

1 account is my main one that i post with

2, Is my business account

3, is the one i use for anything sensitive or private i dont want people to know about or link to me. Nothing illegal of course, but if i ever have a problem i dont want friends or family to know of id post using my 3rd account.

Ill be binning the 3rd one soon though as the forum has just adopted a system where as i can post anonymously and have admin check and ok then post my question or issue for me. They then check and ok every subsequent post i make in that particular thread.

There are genuine reasons for multipul accounts but most fora dont allow it unless you speak to them first and ask for permission.

The price is pretty incomprehensible but it seems that Facebook now owns WhatsApp

Ive been supplied a firmware update which gives you the option of changing the speed counter from KPH to MPH. Check your menu, if you can already choose MPH then you have the latest version. If you dont then let me know and ill mail you the (tiny) firmware update with instructions on how to apply it.
