Would that be down Abbeydale Road, Ecclesall Road area? It would eventually be very popular as a hell of a lot of buses go down those roads - but can you imagine the consternation caused by the disruption....

Would there not be enough space alongside the existing railway tracks?

There are a few places where it narrows, existing bridges for example, but surely if they can do HS2 across half the country, they can widen some bridges?

Ronnie O’Sullivan would be happy to see the World Snooker Championship move away from Sheffield, believing a switch to China or Saudi Arabia would be a ‘wise’ decision.

I'm guessing money would be the main factor?
Although I can't see it going down well with fans... I doubt many would be willing or able to shoulder the expense of going to China or Saudi Arabia to watch it in person... with that in mind, surely they wouldn't be making as much money from ticket sales?

Ive just realised the glaring typo above - it should say I WOULD NOT give a Roku product to my worst enemy 🤣

How come? What put you off?

I've had a bog standard Roku stick for years, for taking on holiday and breaks away, and never really had any issues 🤔

  4. Always sad when a family member dies.

My memory of that shop was taking a Dyson hoover in for a service and clean and the owner going on a half hour rant about how awful Dysons are, how James Dyson lied to everyone, and then tried to sell me some random brand I've never heard of, but when I looked it up online it was garbage 🤔

A week later went to collect my hoover, got it home... still in the same condition as I dropped it off in.

Some of you are coming accross as spenders, and others tight. In old age, we must learn how to spend our money.

I have a spreadsheet for the monthly essential outgoings and then I can see what my "spare" cash is for the month.

There's plenty left over to enjoy myself and buy treats 👌

Democracy  -  Good or Bad  .............    opinions

It depends on your goals as a country.

If you want to dominate and dabble your hand in everyones business then the China route is the way to go.

You could also say that the USA is doing just that as a democracy, however on paper the USA is not a true democracy and they've managed to paint a huge target on themselves by doing it in a more militaristic way, whereas China is doing it in more of an economic way by making everyone reliant on them for products.

If you want your citizens to feel like they have freedom then go democracy, although I'm sure people in China would say that they have freedom too, it just depends on your definition.

Though it's not working out that way for us... we elected people into office who then imposed restrictions on people, whether it's "for our own good" or not... i.e. ULEZ, Scotlands hate crime law, smoking bans etc..

I'm going to hit submit now because I feel like I've gone off on a weird tangent 😂

  7. Ages ago I set up a standing order on my current account to pay some cash into a savings account each month on what would be called "pay day".
It can never hurt to have some squirreled away for emergencies.

The 2024 version focuses far more on the Japanese perspective. The white characters appearing in the first episodes representing Portugal, Spain, England, and Holland could hardly be deemed heroic. However, the character John Blackthorne, now played by Cosmo Jarvis, is already a pivotal figure and will be a hero, along with several Japanese characters. Others are already praising the new 10-part series as a cultural sea change from the 1980 version. I ask the question now that I naively didn’t ask in 1980. Where are the Black people?

Put simply, people are complaining because of the lack of black people in this show about 1600s Japan.

A bit of research shows that although there were a small number of black people present in the country at the time, they were very restricted in where they could go and what they could do.

In fact there was a black samurai.... one in all of Japanese history, so including more would be inclusivity for the sake of it, rather than representing what actually happened, but then of course people wouldn't have anything to get offended by 🙄

Is it me or has anyone else noticed how quiet its been on here for about a week ?

For me it's about not wanting to deal with the inevitable bickering.

I was going to post a thread about the new series of Shogun and the debate around it, but then didn't want the hassle that would arise given the nature of the supposed "controversy"
