I think the resentment is more the whole "you MUST pay this fee, even if you don't use the service, or we will fine you/ send you to prison" thing. Personally I don't tend to search for news on the BBC site, and I use the Met Office weather (who got ditched by the BBC a few years ago) 🤷♂️

The full story is that it's not a rebrand. The store in question is not owned or run by Cadburys, and Cadburys themselves have issued a statement to say that Easter eggs are still being called that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-68673505

Bit of a thread bump this, but I'm getting more interested in the why's and where's of TV licence funding with the recent news that the current agreement is set to expire in 2027; https://www.theguardian.com/media/2024/mar/25/bbc-looks-for-commercial-deals-as-it-faces-potential-end-of-licence-fee As far as I can work out the licence fee only pays for BBC services.... none of it goes to Sky, or freeview channels, or ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5... So why in the hell do I need to pay for a licence fee if I never watch BBC channels or listen to BBC radio services? The equivalent would be Sky enforcers going up to peoples doors and demanding money from people who haven't got Sky

Meadowhead New Football/Rugby Ground Plus More

Try and travel up or down Richards Road on a United match day, absolute pandemonium... cars park on both sides of the road, on corners... I feel sorry for the bus drivers, it must be a test of nerves trying not to rip off mirrors. -

Because then it would be sexist, but not before 😉 But also because men couldn't care less and are happy to get rid of their women for a few hours peace 😂

Loaning Money To A Family Member Or Close Friend?

I would never loan money or agree to be a guarantor for anyone, friend or family. Only lend what you can afford to lose, because there's never any guarantee you'll get it back. -
22 March: A New Chapter For Supertram
Pyrotequila replied to SheffieldForum's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Ah so it's just the Stagecoaach thing that's changing... well that makes sense now! Thanks for clearing it up 😎👍 -
Likewise I find it to be very quick to log in and use. Occasionally I'll have to verify that it's me with a text message code, but the safety net that you get if anything goes wrong with the purchase is totally worth the extra few seconds.

22 March: A New Chapter For Supertram
Pyrotequila replied to SheffieldForum's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
So they're making it more expensive to use for certain people? Say for example, someone doesn't live near a tram stop but works near a tram stop, which is quicker and more convenient than staying on a bus and waiting for it to do the rounds... their routine would have been to get a Stagecoach bus into town, then transfer to the tram and go to work, on one ticket. After that date they'd have to either buy two tickets or just lump it and stick with buses and adjust their morning routine. I can fully get the general reasoning for taking certain services back into public ownership, but surely not if they're going to make it more of a hassle to use? -
Protest In Waitrose, Ecclesall Road
Pyrotequila replied to *_ash_*'s topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I thought it might be something Israeli as the only things I could find online about recent protests in Waitrose were about them not wanting people to purchase dates grown in Israel. In the grand scheme of things it's a pretty pointless thing to protest about 🙄 -

If it's people shouting at strangers and waving flags, I'm going with either vegans or trans protestors -

But that would mean actually doing the job they get paid for? Are you mad? 🤣 Couple of days ago I watched an off road bike, no plates on it, spewing smoke, two riders, no helmets just hoodies pulled tight ride past a junction right in front of a police car, up onto the pavement and across the grass. The police car turned the opposite direction.... zero F's given. This country is broken. -
Is it definitely becoming a Poundland? Doesn't seem like a big enough space for them, and there's one not too far away in Heeley retail park.

Share The Last Good Deed You Have Done.
Pyrotequila replied to The_DADDY's topic in General Discussions
I'm sure I've done one since, but I can't recall what it was, so I'll do the last one I can actually remember 🤦♂️ When we had that bit of snow in early Feb we were walking round to the MILs to walk her dog, obviously snow all over the roads, spotted one younger female driver struggling, in front of her car with a mini folding shovel trying to scrape to tarmac to get moving. We wandered over and gave her car a push, then the Virgin media van behind her. Carried on trekking round to MILs, part way down her road and the same lady in the car had got stuck again... helped her out again and we offered her the MILs driveway to store her car off road overnight till the snow cleared. She popped round the morning after, collected her car and left a box of chocolates for us 😇 -

Do the tram lines already run there or are they having to install a new line? This could be why it's so expensive? 🤷♂️ -

In these modern times, what difference should someones choice of religion make in an asylum claim? Unless the government secretly wants to keep out all the "alternative" faiths?
