  1. Mr Gallagher took me for maths which was always a very interesting lesson to say the least. I am amazed and also gobsmacked reading what he achieved after leaving Newfield and teaching. sure was one hell of a guy and someone his family can be very proud of
  2. Runningman We last spoke on here about 5 years ago. to be honest I,d forgotten all about this forum till just now when I came across it again quite by accident. I could not believe you were still here after all this time. I have been going over the thread again and the memories of Newfield came flooding back. I live in Bournemouth so I don't get to Sheffield now at all so these trips down memory lane mean alot. I know we exchanged real names by pm but sorry i've lost all that info. I see from one of your posts even more Newfield boys have now left. I will now keep following this forum and keep in touch with all the new threads. Best Regards C---- S--- AKA XC60

  6. Hi All I,m a late visitor to this topic but have read all the posts. A few of my memories to share, I left Ellesmere about 1958 ish but I do remember Mr Albaya very well as I used to play with his son who was in my class. A couple of names I recall. Faye Palfreman whose parents owned the shop on the corner opposite the school, and Gloria Grounsill (may have spelt her surname wrong). I still have a class photo which I will endeavour to find and post.

  17. hi M firstly don,t solder to the spade terminals buy an inline fuse holder that takes spade terminals, that way if it blows its easier to just pull out the old one and push in a new one. use a fuse of no more than 5 /7amp capacity, yes you can take the earth wire to any point on the car but make sure you remove any paint from under the bolt you are using, and that the wire is tucked away so as not to get pulled. A point to keep in mind is that wiring it in this way means the cig lighter will be permanently live even when the ignition is off. also make sure your wire has a higher amp rating than the fuse otherwise the wire becomes the fuse. hope alll this helps and good luck. chris
  18. Yes but you cannot legislate for idiots like that, even nowadays. Totally agree, the the worst I got was having my privates smeared in grease and underseal, hung from the hook of the recovery truck by my overalls and driven round the garage forecourt, with everything on show, much to the amusement of the office girls.then spent all morning in the toilet with a tin of petrol trying to get it off.
  19. I worked at TCH and never saw anyone being initiated let alone tied to a car lift and electrocuted. However I remember a case in the paper of a young apprentice having an airline pushed up his backside and blowing some of his intestines out and his subsequent death ( Not at TCH ) and talking of buffer girls my friend had a steel washer placed on his limp p@@@s then a buffer girl came and played with it which of course got him excited with a painfull result Happy days
