  1. I went to Mansell and then on to Yewlands. I left in 1973. God, Im old.. Mr Peter Avil, Science teacher used to put us girls in handcuffs and keep us in all breaktime. How come no-one knew he was a perv ? Miss Penlington was Head then..
  2. Hi, I went to Huntsmans Gardens in 1962-64 and my 2 Brothers before that. Does anyone remember the Walsh family from Sleaford Street ? My Grandad George Walsh worked as the doorman / usher at the picture house.

  4. Can't wait..it looks great round there! How do i get to town from there and is it a long journey? Thanks.
  5. Oh wicked! Yeah, it seems nice. I'll let ya know for sure..thanks..
  6. Is this a good or bad area? Mauncer crescent, Woodhouse. Any and all information appreciated. Thanks....
  7. No, i don't know that one, but i'll definitely go and check it out tomorrow! Tell your partner i said thanks!
  8. Thanks all. Well, i had to run before i could read any of your replies, and i ended up at MFI in town. They had ONE crappy sofa bed! Then we went to retail park in homebase, as my mum insisted they sold sofa beds there (even though i was sure they didn't) and lo and behold, they had none!! So we just quit till tomorrow. Also, someone above had a good point. Even if i could find a sofa bed, wouldn't it have to be delivered? Grr!! Oh well, i best go and cushion the floor...
  9. Hey, our bed has just fell to bits! Anyone know anywhere in Sheffield i can get a sofa bed? Anywhere in retail park or anything?
  10. Hey, was anyone on Fargate in Town on the 11th of Nov, at about 2pm ish? I was there and all that could be heard was the screaming and balling of some guy! Everyone was looking round wondering where it was coming from, but i couldn't see him? Did anyone see this and if so, what was wrong with him?
  11. I hate...ummm.....I HATE how everyone who is sitting on the ledges or on the grass stares when you walk through the peace gardens.
  12. I agree. It depends on your own determination of what "rough" is. I live in a really nice end of Parson Cross, well, it's the nicER end...lol! But i was brought up in Tinsley for the first 17 years of my life. I'm not being racist here, it's just fact, but i grew up fighting with gangs. Some asian gangs, some white gangs, but it seems like everyday would involve some sort of punch up. It was either stand and fight or run, and i don't run. So to me, Parson Cross is the Hilton! LOL!
  13. Excuse me, i'll make a thread about anything i want within reason! I was just curious is all! Can't we have a debate without it leading to arguing? I know there's a fine line but still, i didn't make this for an argument.
  14. I've heard some people say it's Parson Cross (where i live), some people say it's Darnall, others say Pitsmoor and some say Tinsley. So, what is the roughest place in Sheffield?
  15. Sometimes, cats crawl into peoples garages or sheds for protection from the rain or something, then they got locked in by accident. I'm sure that's what happened to ours and that maybe the case here. If only we could stick a camera on 'em and really find out what they get up to! LOL! Thanks for letting us know and give him a stroke for me..;-)
  16. Thanks everyone!! I'm so glad i'm not the only one who thinks the bidding system is a total pile of sham! For the record, my Mum lives in Ecclesfield. I still live with her for now because of her illness. I'm a 22 year old guy who still lives with his mum..i know what ya thinking..."Awww, bless"...LOL! Just hope all this gets sorted, and soon! :-) But on a brighter note, it's christmas soon! LOL!
  17. I dunno. It's debatable. I have lived here for 6 years now and i've never had any trouble! There are gangs and stuff, but those are everywhere you go!
  18. Tell her not to give up hope. Our cat once went missing for 2 whole weeks before returning home!! Good luck to her and can you let us know if it's found? Thanks a lot. :-) P.S Very nice of ya to post this for her.
  19. I'm not in high storrs at all but just wanted to say, i lost one of my black cats the other day but she turned up eventually. So i know how horrible it is! Hope the cat comes back soon! How long has the cat been missing?
  20. If you're interested in a property, you simply "bid" on it. No money is involved. A bid is just to say you are keen on the house. Everyones bid ranks the same. They then look at all the applicants who've bid and weigh up who needs the certain property the most. I couldn't argue with this if they had put a family with priority into next door, but it's the fact that even though noone wants it, they STILL haven't given it to my mum. We saw family after family coming to view the house, yet they all turned it down. That's what makes me so angry. The council say that in this case, the house gets passed on and on to people who have bidded and those who are eligible. My mum is both of those. Sorry, i'm rambling now. I'm just so frustrated with this whole process!
  21. The thing is, they always have some rule buried deep in the middle of a thick book somewhere to get themselves out of trouble. Like, oh yeah, THIS is why we did this, THIS is why we did that. There's no reasoning with them because they just hide behind rules which they probably just make up! Yes, i know that's rubbish, but sometimes, that's how it seems. We got in touch with David Blunketts office and they were disgusted!! Apparently, he's handling it now, but to be honest, i don't have much faith there either!
  22. That's what i said! The council told her that hardly anyone has 16 years waiting time anymore so it wont be hard to re-house her somewhere realistic and suitable around this area! Months and months later, they still haven't offered anything!
  23. Yeah, we realised all this before hand. She's eligible for a two bedroomed house, which is what the house next door is. The council also advised AGAINST going homeless because mum is agoraphobic and if she goes homeless, they'll put her in a **** hole somewhere, cos basically, she HAS to take the first one that they offer her if she goes on as homeless. So they said not to. That's why she needs to be on this estate. All the family are here to support her. We made sure she could have the property next door before she bidded. She's been bidding for soo long, and she has 16 YEARS waiting time!! They just don't care at all. They've knocked down so many houses, all they care about is people with priority. But even priority applicants haven't over ruled mum in this case. They just ignored her bid! Even the woman at the housing couldnt explain it because she is eligible.
